Installing your Microtek PlateLyzer Scanner

Unpack your scanner package and
check for major components.
1. PlateLyzer scanner
2. Hi-Speed USB cable
3. Power adapter
4. Power cord

*The sample holder you receive will vary depending on
the scanner package you purchased.
IMPORTANT: Do not remove the yellow sticker
from your scanner until you are told to do so.
You must install software before connecting
your scanner.
1. Please visit the Microtek website at https://www.microtek.com.
2. Search for the keyword “PlateLyzer“ and locate the ”Download” page for the product.
3. Download the necessary drivers and software marked as “Yes” in the download list based on your
operating system.
 Pleasenotethattheledownloadprocessmayrequiresometime.Thedurationmayvarybasedonyour
internetspeed,bandwidth,lesize,andothervariables.Wekindlyaskforyourpatienceuntilthedownloadis
complete.
4. Oncethedownloadiscomplete,double-clickonthedownloadedle(*.exe)tostartthe
installation process.
5. After all the software and programs have been installed, restart your computer.

3.Unlock Scanner
A. Remove the yellow “Unlock” sticker from your
digitizer.
B. With the scanner power off, tilt the front right
corner of the scanner to see the locking screw at the
bottom.
C. Using a screwdriver, push and turn the locking screw
counterclockwise to the unlock position. When
successfully unlocked, the screw will push out a
little, protruding slightly from the bottom of the
scanner.
4.Connect Scanner
To the Power Adapter
A. Connect the power adapter to the back of the scanner.
B. Plug one end of the power cord into the power adapter, and plug the other end of the power
cord into a wall outlet or other power source..
To the Hi-Speed USB Cable
C. Connect one end of the USB cable
to your computer.
D. Connect the other end of the USB
cable to the scanner’s USB port.
E. PressthePowerbutton( ) at
the front panel of the scanner, and
wait for the lights to stop blinking
and stay on steady.
The system will detect your
scanner automatically.

Positioning Samples
1. Place the microplate or glass slide with samples into the sample holder that you want to use.
2. Inserttheholderwithloadedmicroplateorglassslideallthewayintothescanningbed(drawer)
of the scanner.
NOTE:Duetothepotentialpresenceofbiologicalhazardsandinfectioussubstances,itiscrucialtohandle
sampleswithcarewhenplacingthemintothesampleholderandscanner.Topreventinfectionincaseof
spillage,itisnecessarytowearglovesandhandlethemicroplateorglassslidewithloadedsamplescarefully.

Scanning and Measuring Samples
Before using the Microtek MiBio-Probe software for scanning, please ensure that the Microtek
ScanWizard Bio software has been installed on your computer.
1. Place the sample holder with the loaded microplate or glass slide into the scanner’s scanning
bed.
Please refer to the “Positioning Samples” section of this guide for details.
2. Launch the Microtek MiBio-Probe software by double-clicking the software icon on the desktop.
3. Scan the samples and select the plate type.
Please refer to the “Scanning Samples” section in the scanner’s manual.
 Whendone,thesystemautomaticallysavesthescannedimage(RAWle)inthesystem’s
default folder, and displays it as a thumbnail in the Thumbnail area. The scanned image is also
displayed in the Viewer panel.
4. Frame the measurement range and create it as a template.
Please refer to the “Creating a Spot Frame Template ” section in the scanner’s manual.
When done, the template can be applied and shared among different samples.
5. Measure and export the measurement data.
 Pleaserefertothe“MeasuringandExportingData”sectioninthescanner’smanual.
Whendone,theexportedCSVdatalecanbereadfromothersoftwareforanalysis.

Problems?
The orange and green LEDs on the front of the
scanner indicate the status of the scanner. On
power up, you should see the following:
First, make sure that you have followed installation steps 1 through 4 in this guide. Then if your
problem is listed here, try the suggested solution.
1. No light comes on when the scanner is turned on.
Make sure your scanner is connected to your computer and plugged into a power source.
2. Add/Remove Hardware Wizard appears on your screen.
Click the “Cancel” button and close the Control Panel. Disconnect the USB cable from the back
of your computer, and refer to the installation instructions in this guide.
3. When trying to scan, an error message appears on your screen that reads, “Can’t Find
Scanners”.
 Makesureyourscannerisunlocked(seeStep3).
 Makesureyourscannerisconnectedtoyourcomputerandpluggedintoapowersource(see
Step4).
Uninstall and reinstall the ScanWizard Bio software.
4. After clicking scan, a blank screen appears.
 Makesureyourscannerisunlocked(seeStep3).
Uninstall and reinstall the ScanWizard Bio software.
5. Having trouble scanning samples.
Make sure you use the correct sample holder to hold the microplate or glass slide with samples.
 Makesurethesampleholderisproperlyinsertedintothescanningbed(drawer)ofthescanner,
and keep the Calibration strip clear and free of any obstruction.
Make sure that the “Scan Mode” is set to “Transparent” when scanning a transparent
microplateorglassslidewithsamples,andsetitto“Reective”whenscanninganopaque
microplate with samples.
Uninstall and reinstall the MiBio-Probe software.
