MATCR515D Digital DAB & FM Radio

Safety Warnings

Please note: Because DAB digital radio is a developing technology, station

availability can change without notice. As new multiplexes and transmitters

are turned on, new stations will begin transmitting and new postcodes will be

able to receive DAB digital radio. Conversely, some DAB radio stations may

disappear without notice.

Covers - Do not remove any fixed covers as this may expose dangerous

voltages.

Weather - It is advisable to unplug an external aerial during a thunderstorm.

Ventilation - The ventilation holes on the casing prevent your product from

over heating. Do not block or cover these holes, especially with cloth or paper.

It is recommended you leave a 10cm gap all around the unit.

Damage - Never use the product if it is damaged in any way. Always place the

unit on a flat level surface avoiding anywhere which may be subject to strong

vibration.

Temperature - Avoid extremes of temperature, either hot or cold, place your

product well away from heat sources such as radiators or gas/electric fires.

Don’t use this unit in tropical climates.

Moisture - Do not allow your product to be exposed to rain, moisture or dust.

If any liquid is spilt into this product it can cause serious damage. If you spill

any liquid switch the unit off at the mains immediately. Contact your store

immediately.

Naked Flames - Naked flames such as candles and night lights should not be

placed on or near the unit.

Accessibility - ensure that any mains plug is easily accessible.

Protect Fine Furniture - Use protective material under the unit when placing

it on a surface with a natural or lacquer finish.

Getting Started

1. Connect the AC adapter to the mains supply and then connect

the adapter plug to the DC connector.

2. Carefully extend the antenna wire.

3. Press the STANDBY button to switch on your radio.

The radio will perform a quick scan of UK Band III DAB

channels. The display will show "AUTOSCAN".

The radio then starts scanning for stations and the display

shows “DAB *”.

When autoscan finishes, the unit switches to standby.

If no stations are found it may be necessary to relocate your

radio to a position giving better reception.

4. Press the STANDBY button to switch on your radio.

5. Press the VOLUME+ or VOLUME- buttons to adjust the volume

level.

Restoring the Factory Settings

If you move the radio to another part of the country, your pre-tuned

DAB stations may not be available. To make the radio autoscan for

new DAB stations, please do the following:

1. Press and hold the STANDBY button until the display shows

"RESET ***", then release the STANDBY button.

2. When the display shows "RESET OK", press the STANDBY

button again. The radio will start scanning for DAB stations as

described in "Getting Started".

Listening to DAB Radio

1. Press the TUNE+ or TUNE- buttons to scroll through the list of

available stations. The display shows the name of the selected

station.

2. Position the antenna wire to give the best reception, using the

signal strength display as a guide.

If the selected station is unavailable, the display will flash “NO

SIGNL”.

Secondary services

1. Some DAB radio stations have one or more secondary services

associated with them. If a station has a secondary service, the

display will flash "Secondary" for 4 seconds each minute.

2. To listen the secondary service, press the TUNE+ button. The

display shows “Secondary”.

Listening to FM Radio

1. Press the DAB/FM button to select the FM band.

2. Press and hold the TUNE+ or TUNE- button, release when the

radio starts tuning. The radio will stop automatically when it

finds the next station.

3. To tune the radio manually, press the TUNE+ or TUNE- buttons

to change the frequency in 0.05MHz steps.

Storing and Recalling Preset Stations

Storing Preset Stations

You can store up to 5 DAB and 5 FM stations as follows.

1. Select the DAB or FM station that you want to store in preset

memory.

2. Press and hold the PRESET button until display starts flashing

the first preset number and shows the station currently stored in

the preset (if no station has been stored, the display shows

“EMPTY”).

3. Press the PRESET button to scroll through the presets (1-5).

4. To store the station, wait a couple of seconds. The station will

be stored in the selected preset and the display will show “P#

SAVED”.

Selecting Preset Stations

To recall a preset station:

1. Press the DAB/FM button to choose the DAB or FM band.

2. Press the PRESET button to scroll through the stored stations.

Setting the Clock

The clock is normally set automatically from the DAB signal. If the

clock does not show the correct time, follow the steps below:

1. Press and hold the ALARM SET (clock set) button until the time

display starts flashing.

2. Press the TUNE+ (minute) button to set the minutes.

3. Press the TUNE- (hour) button to set the hour and AM/PM.

4. Press the ALARM SET button again to set the year.

5. Press the TUNE+/TUNE- buttons to select the current year.

6. Press the ALARM SET button again to set the month.

7. Press the TUNE+/TUNE- buttons to select the current month.

8. Press the ALARM SET button again to set the date.

9. Press the TUNE+/TUNE- buttons to select the current date.

10. Press the ALARM SET button to finish.

NOTE: If no button is pressed, after 5 seconds the radio will finish

clock setting automatically.

To view the time when the radio is on, press the DISPLAY button.

Using the Alarm Function

Your radio provides 3 independent alarms. Each alarm can either

sound a buzzer or play a preset DAB/FM radio station. You must

store the preset stations before setting the alarm.

Setting an Alarm

1. Press the ALARM SET button to scroll through the 3 alarms.

The display shows the status of each alarm.

2. When the alarm you want is displayed, press the TUNE+ button

to set the minute. Press the TUNE- button to set the hour and

AM/PM.

3. Press the DISPLAY button to set the days when the alarm is

active: every day, weekdays only, weekends only, Mon, Tue,

Wed, Thu, Fri, Sat, Sun.

4. Press the PRESET button to choose the alarm type (buzzer or

radio).

5. If you choose the radio, press DAB/FM to switch between DAB

and FM radio, then press PRESET to scroll through the preset

stations. If there are no preset stations, the display shows

"EMPTY".

6. Press the VOLUME+ and VOLUME- buttons to set the alarm

volume.

7. Wait 5 seconds. The radio then saves the alarm settings. The

display shows the alarm icon .

When the Alarm Turns On

1. Press the ALARM SET button to turn off the alarm

2. Press the SNOOZE button to pause the alarm for 9 minutes

Deactivating and Reactivating an Alarm

1. Press the ALARM SET button to scroll through the alarms.

2. When the alarm you want is displayed:

• Press the SLEEP button to deactivate the alarm. The display

shows "OFF".

• Press the SNOOZE button to reactivate the alarm. The display

shows the original alarm settings.

Changing the Snooze Time

1. Switch the radio to standby.

2. Press and hold the SNOOZE button until the display shows

"ADJUST". The display then shows "SNOOZE" followed by

"SNZ- #" where "#" is the current snooze time in minutes.

3. Press the TUNE+/TUNE- buttons to change the snooze time.

4. When the display shows the time you want, wait a few seconds.

The display shows "SAVED" and then the radio switches to

standby.

Using the Sleep Function

To turn off the radio after a set number of minutes, press the SLEEP

button to scroll through the options: 5, 15, 30, 45, or 60 minutes.

To turn off the sleep function, press the SLEEP button until the

display shows "SLEEP --".
