Operation
•Useyourfullattentionwhileoperatingthe
machine.Donotengageinanyactivitythat
causesdistractions;otherwise,injuryorproperty
damagemayoccur.
•Neverrunanengineinanenclosedarea.
•Operatethemachineonlyingoodlight,keeping
awayfromholesandhiddenhazards.
•Starttheengineonlyfromtheoperator’sposition.
•Neveroperatewithouttheshields,covers,orother
guardssecurelyinplace.Ensurethatallinterlocks
arefunctioningproperly.
•Donotchangetheenginegovernorsettingor
overspeedtheengine.
•Raisethecuttingblades,stopthemachine,and
shutofftheenginebeforeleavingtheoperator’s
positionforanyreason.
•Stopthemachine,shutofftheengine,waitfor
allmovingpartstostop,andinspectthecutting
bladesafterstrikinganobjectorifanabnormal
vibrationoccurs.Makenecessaryrepairsbefore
resumingoperation.
•Keepyourhandsandfeetawayfromthecutting
bladearea.
•Keepbystanders,especiallysmallchildren,outof
theoperatingarea.Stopthemachineifanyone
entersthearea.
•Bealert,slowdown,andusecautionwhenmaking
turns.Lookbehindandtothesidebeforechanging
directions.
•Slowdownandusecautionwhencrossingroads
andsidewalks.
•Donotoperatethemachinewhileill,tired,or
undertheinuenceofalcoholordrugs.

SlopeSafety
•Usethemachineacrossthefaceofslopes;never
upanddown.Useextremecautionwhenchanging
directiononslopes.
•Donotusethemachineonexcessivelysteep
slopes.Poorfootingcouldcauseaslip-and-fall
accident.
•Usethemachinewithcautionneardrop-offs,
ditches,orembankments.
MaintenanceandStorage
•Parkthemachineonalevelsurface,shutoffthe
engine,andwaitforallmovementtostopbefore
adjusting,cleaning,orrepairing.Raisethecutting
blades,stopthemachine,shutofftheengine,and
disconnectthespark-plugwire.
•Cleangrassanddebrisfromtheblades,drives,
mufers,andenginetohelppreventres.Clean
upoilorfuelspills.
•Lettheenginecoolbeforestoringanddonotstore
themachinenearaame.
•Shutoffthefuelwhilestoringortransportingthe
