Deck Lift Handle
Blade
Pivot Release
Cable Lever
Shave Plate
Blade
The blade is used to push snow/dirt/gravel, etc. and can be
angled left or right and raised or lowered.
Deck Lift Handle
The deck lift handle is located on the front of the RH console, and
is used to raise and lower the blade. Depress the button on the
end of the handle and push downward to lower the blade, or pull
upward to raise the blade. When the desired height is attained,
secure the pin in the desired index hole and release the button
on the handle
Pivot Release Cable Lever
The pivot release cable lever is used to change the angle of the
blade. Squeeze the trigger against the handle and push forward
on the blade pivot handle to angle the blade to the right or pull
back on the blade pivot handle to angle it to the left. Release the
handle to secure into position.
Skid Shoe (Not shown)
The skid shoes are located on the bottom of the blade and can
be adjusted up or down depending on the conditions. The skid
shoes set the distance between the ground and the bottom of
the blade.
Shave Plate
The shave plate maintains contact with the pavement as the
blade is pushed forward.
Operation
4
12
Operation
WARNING! Before operating the tractor,
familiarize yourself with the SAFE OPERATION
PRACTICES in the rider manual starting on page 3.
To change the angle of the blade, squeeze the blade release
cable lever against the handle and push forward on the blade
adjustment handle to angle the blade to the left or pull back on
the blade adjustment handle to angle it to the right. The blade can
be angled 30° to the right, 30° to the left, or straight ahead. Release
the handle to secure into the desired position. See Figure 4-1.
Figure 4-1
CAUTION! It is important that the blade is locked
into position. After releasing the lever, push or pull
the blade adjustment handle to be certain the blade
is locked into one of the three positions.
To raise or lower the blade, use the deck lift handle. See Figure 4-2.
Figure 4-2
NOTE: The blade is designed for clearing snow, leveling soft dirt
or sand and other light duty dozer jobs. The spring trip release
protects the blade, tractor and operator from severe shock loads
when the blade comes in contact with curbs and other obstacles.
The blade has a reversible and replaceable cutting edge.
WARNING! Operate the tractor at a slow ground
speed until familiar with the operation of the blade.
CAUTION! Never operate the tractor at high
speeds. A collision with a hidden obstacle may
damage the blade cutting edge and unseat the
driver.
WARNING! Exercise caution while operating
tractor with this attachment, especially when
traveling in reverse.
1. Pushing snow — Adjust the skid shoes so the blade cutting
edge just clears the pavement. In large open flat areas, the
tractor can be operated at medium speed.
NOTE: See the Maintenance & Adjustments section for
instructions for adjusting the skid shoes.
2. Light grading — For light grading and spreading soil, sand,
gravel, etc., adjust the shoes so they are even with the
cutting edge. Control the blade position with the tractor
implement lift. Operate the tractor at slow or medium
speed.
3. Heavy grading — For heavy grading of soil, sand, gravel,
etc., adjust the shoes so they are slightly above the
cutting edge. Control the blade position with the tractor
implement lift. Operate the tractor at slow speed.
4. Terracing — For terracing, adjust the shoes so they are
approximately /” or more above the cutting edge,
depending on the rate of blade penetration desired. Angle
the blade away from the trench cut by the blade. Control
the blade depth with the tractor implement lift. Operate
the tractor at slow speed. Once the desired angle of the
terrace is achieved, level the blade and continue grading
until the desired terrace depth or width is obtained.
CAUTION! To avoid an accident or injury, do not
allow adults to operate the blade without proper
instruction. Never allow children to operate.
Maintenance & Adjustments
5
13
Maintenance
Lubrication
Periodically lubricate the pivot points between the A-frame and
pivot plate with a good grade of grease. Periodically spray lube
the pivot latch components.
Adjustments
Skid Shoes
NOTE: Adjust the skid shoes so the blade cutting edge just clears
the pavement when being used for snow removal.
Adjust the skid shoes to the appropriate position for the job
being performed. See Figure 5-1.
Figure 5-1
1. Loosen the jam nuts and lock washers on each shoe.
2. Turn the skid shoes to the desired position.
3. Tighten the jam nuts and lock washers.
Shave Plate
If the shave plate becomes worn, reverse or replace the bar as
follows (See Figure 5-2):
Figure 5-2
1. Remove the nine carriage bolts and flange lock nuts
fastening the shave plate to the blade.
2. Reverse or replace the shave plate and attach with the
carriage bolts and flange lock nuts.
14
Trip Spring
Maintain the proper trip spring tension as follows (See Figure 5-3):
⁄” Max Gap
Figure 5-3
1. There should be a ⁄” max gap between the top of the
spring and the upper lip of the blade.
2. Tighten or loosen the hex screws on top of the blade to
obtain the proper gap.
Assist Springs
During operation, the lift handle is to be placed in the locked
down position to prevent blade float in light snow conditions.
At the operator’s option, the assist springs (located behind rear
wheels) can be backed off approximately 1” on each side; This will
increase lift effort slightly but avoids the need to lock the handle
down. See Figure 5-4.
1”
Figure 5-4
NOTE: Remember to fully tighten/re-tension the assist
springs when removing the blade and installing the deck.
