Centre base on joists to be trimmed out. Tile Tray can span no
greater than demonstrated. Failure to follow floor detail will void
warranty. Floor joists and trimmers must be flat, planning or
sanding off any ridges is recommended before installation. Trim
edges of base to support join of flooring and Tile Tray.
If the tray requires trimming it is recommended to use a diamond
saw blade in a well-ventilated area. It is recommended that
appropriate PPE is worn, such as eye protection and a dust
mask.
Ensure that the joists are level; the tile tray is designed with fall to
the drain. If the joists are not level this may distort the base and
affect the flow of water.
Tile tray must be supported around all edges with a maximum of
450mm centers.
Install base with adhesive; apply a continuous bead to the
underside of the tray. Ensure the adhesive has a clean surface to
adhere to. Always use a flexible adhesive when adhering to a
substrate e.g. Sikaflex-11FC.
After installation onto the substrate, apply downward pressure
and check the tile tray is level.
It is essential to test for water run off to the waste outlet prior to
commencing the installation of the shower walls and tiling. This
will ensure the tile tray is draining correctly. At times during
installation and airlock may occur within the plumbing which can
have an adverse effect on the drainage of the tile tray. If this
occurs, it is recommended to use a plunger to remove this
airlock.
Stud Frame – check in wall junction: The waterproof membrane
should extend at least 1500mm from centre of the tile tray outlet.
The fall of the floor outside the tile tray must be towards the tile
tray outlet to comply with local standards.
All the joints between the tray and the floor/walls must be
waterproofed using one of the approved waterproofing, tile
adhesive and grouting tiling system companies as recommended
by the tile tray manufacturer themselves.
Waterproof around the waste outlet and around membrane.
Rough up the surface of base using 80 grit sandpaper (only
spend 2-3 mins)
Apply primer over the tile tray surface and allow to dry as per
primer manufactures instructions.
Option to waterproof over primer but not necessary

TILE TRAY WASTE CONNECTIONS
Tile Tray shower base can be installed on a 10mm mortar bed or glued to the floor with silicone. If installing on
silicone apply a continuous bead to the underside of the tray.
Ensure the silicone has a clean surface to adhere to
Ensure the area is level and will allow water to flow to outlet when tray is installed (tray has in-built fall to waste)
Ensure underside of tray has full support at all times (450mm square for direct to floor joist application)
INSTALLATION TO CONCRETE FLOOR
Ensure the area is level and will allow water to flow to outlet when tray is installed (tray has in-built fall to waste)
Tray can be installed on mortar bed if required
Void area around outlet can be no greater than 300m m x 300 mm
If installing on silicone apply a continuous bead to the underside of the tray. Ensure the silicone has a clean surface
to adhere to.
Refer to the installation instruction for smartseal outlet, it is recommended the smartseal be installed 30mm below
floor surface to allow for locking nut.
Smartseal to sit 30mm below concrete floor level
Note: Manufacturer recommends IPLEX Smart seal be used for new construction. If Smartseal is not used ensure
void area under waste outlet does not exceed 300x300 mm as the area around the waste outlet is designed to span
this distance.
300 X 300mm is MAXIMUM SPAN RECOMMENDED
TIMBER FLOOR INSTALLATION

Professional waterproofing contractors should be used to ensure compliance with Australian
Standard AS 3740-2010.
Note that insurers may void claims if the installation does not comply with AS3740.
All the joints between the tray and the floor/walls must be waterproofed using one of the approved waterproofing
systems as recommended - Refer Page 10.
It is also recommended that the waterproofing cover the entire surface of the tile Tray.
Do not waterproof in the area immediately around the waste outlet so as not to block water drainage
Refer AS3740.
Preliminary
Ensure tray is clean from dirt and dust, using methylated spirits will assist in removing dust.
Allow to dry before commencement of installation.
Refer Page 9 For recommended tiling adhesives and grout systems.
