2. Installation Instructions
ATTENTION!
In order not to damage the compressor of the air conditioning unit do not short the electrical
terminals in the wall plate for testing purposes.
This will cancel any warranty that is provided with the unit.
MEITAV-TEC will not be responsible for damage to the compressor caused by shorting or
by bypassing the systems timer.
It is very important to find the right place to install the thermostat.
Please make sure to follow all the installation instructions in order to get an accurate
reading of the temperature.
General points to follow:
x The Unit must not be installed in the following cases:
On an outside wall.
When not having air draft inside.
Exposed to direct sunlight.
x The standard height to install this unit is 5 feet (1.5 meter).
Installation procedure:
It is recommended to mount the thermostat or
return air sensors between 5 & 6 feet (1.5 & 1.8
meters) from the floor where possible.
Separate the base from the cover by pressing the tongue
(pic.1).

Gently disconnect the quick connector between the cover
and the base (pic.2)
Line the back panel up against the wall or flat surface
on which it is to be mounted and drill the appropriate
fixing holes (pic.3).
Insert screws so they extend approx. 3/16" (3 mm) from
wall or surface.
Align the back panel against these screws, pushing it
forward, allowing it to slide downwards to lock into
position.
Make electrical connections to the terminals on the
back panel as shown on enclosed electrical wiring
diagram
Reconnect the quick connector.
Attach the cover to the base, first the two shafts and
then the spring.
Do not install battery before power is applied!
Connect 24Vac to the thermostat; verify that LCD
display is ON.
Remove battery from back panel by sliding it to the left
and out from its white retaining clip and mount it in
black holder on front panel; insert it from the top, gently
pressing downwards until it snaps into place and is held
under the top clip of the holder.
The ‘+’ engraved on battery should be visible (pic. 4).
Be careful when inserting the battery – the top
clip of the holder is very fragile.
Reassemble the front and back cover.
Connect the top clip and then the bottom clip.

4.3 Fan Mode Explanation
The following diagram will help you to select the right jumpers configuration.
Fan mode “Electric” - The fan will be activated or not depending on the position of the
AUTO FAN button.
Fan mode “Oil/Gas” - This option is used when the heating system is different than the
A/C unit (i.e. furnace)
In this option the fan will work as follows:
Fan ON – The fan will work continuously.
Auto Fan – The fan will not work continuously.

4.3 Fan Mode Explanation
The following diagram will help you to select the right jumpers configuration.

Fan mode “Oil/Gas” - This option is used when the heating system is different than the
A/C unit (i.e. furnace)
In this option the fan will work as follows:

IMPORTANT!
1. Every time you press a button, the thermostat will state its condition.
Press the button again to make the actual change.
5.1 Turn the thermostat On or Off
Press the ON/OFF button to activate/deactivate the thermostat – The Green LED will turn on.
5.2 Normal display mode
In normal mode, the display will alternate between real time clock and set/room temperature.
When the thermostat is in fan mode, the display will alternate between real time
clock and room temperature only (no set temperature).

IMPORTANT!
1. Every time you press a button, the thermostat will state its condition.
Press the button again to make the actual change.
5.1 Turn the thermostat On or Off
Press the ON/OFF button to activate/deactivate the thermostat – The Green LED will turn on.
5.2 Normal display mode
In normal mode, the display will alternate between real time clock and set/room temperature.
When the thermostat is in fan mode, the display will alternate between real time
clock and room temperature only (no set temperature).

x Press and hold the CLOCK button – the hours will flash.
x Adjust the hours using the “+” and “-” buttons (set buttons).
x Press the CLOCK button again – the minutes will flash.
x Adjust the minutes using the “+” and “-” buttons.
x Press the CLOCK button again – the day of the week will flash.
x Set the day of the week using the “+” and “-” buttons.
x Press the CLOCK button again to return to normal display mode.
5.4 Selecting modes
Press the MODE button to switch between the four modes:
x Cool – “COOL” appears on display.
x Heat – “HEAT” appears on display.
x Cool/heat (auto-change over) – both “COOL” and “HEAT” appear on display.
x Fan only – both “COOL” and “HEAT” disappear from display.

x Wait until display returns to normal mode.
IMPORTANT!
While in auto change-over mode, the thermostat has 2 different set points –
one for cool and one for heat. The set temperature for heating must be at least
1 degree less than the set temperature for cooling. The thermostat will
automatically adjust the set temperature for heating to be less than the set
temperature for cooling.

In oil systems, in heat mode, switching to auto fan mode will stop the fan
(the unit will work without the fan).
5.7 Reset Button and Alarm Condition
When the room temperatures goes higher or lower than the alarm limits set by the technician,
the alarm led (red) will flash and the alarm output will be activated.
Press and hold the RESET button to clear the alarm.
The alarm will automatically stop when the temperature returns to the allowed values.
The alarm works when the thermostat is in either on or off position.

5.6 Selecting fan/auto fan
Press the AUTO FAN button to switch between:
xFAN ON – The fan will work continuously.
x Auto Fan – The fan will work according to cooling/heating demand (“AUTO FAN”

6. Programming
The CEV-24 is a 5-1-1 programmable thermostat with 12 separate programs:
x 4 Programs for the weekdays - Monday through Friday.
x 4 Programs for Saturday.
x 4 Programs for Sunday.
Thermostat Display
1. Days of the week: (when setting the program).
The day/s of the week being currently programmed will
appear on display. E.g. when display shows: MON-TUE-
WED-THU-FRI, weekdays program is being set.
(The program will repeat on each of these days).
2. MODE (heat/cool), will be displayed when you set
individual temperatures
3. Hour digits.
4. Minutes digits.
5. Current event being set or current active event.
x The following chart will help you configure the program.
x We recommend that you fill out the chart BEFORE setting the weekly program.
x On the chart, select cooling and heating set temperatures. The controller will automaticallt
keep a safe differential of at least 1 degree between Heat set and Cool set. (Set-
temperature for heating is always less than set-temperature for cooling).
x Display shows: program (weekday, Saturday or Sunday) and event (1, 2, 3, 4)
x When no button is pressed for 15 seconds, the display will automatically exit programming
mode.

x 4 Programs for Saturday.
x 4 Programs for Sunday.
Thermostat Display

WED-THU-FRI, weekdays program is being set.

You can switch between weekly program and Manual mode by pressing and holding (3
seconds) the PROG button in normal display mode.
In weekly program mode the clock symbol and Program, in brackets, will be displayed.
The clock symbol and Program, in brackets, will not be displayed in Manual Mode.
6.4 Review the Program
You can review the program or change part of it. Enter the programming mode and step
quickly through the different programs using the CLOCK button.

6.3 Weekly Program Mode and Manual Mode
You can switch between weekly program and Manual mode by pressing and holding (3
seconds) the PROG button in normal display mode.
In weekly program mode the clock symbol and Program, in brackets, will be displayed.
The clock symbol and Program, in brackets, will not be displayed in Manual Mode.
6.4 Review the Program
You can review the program or change part of it. Enter the programming mode and step
quickly through the different programs using the CLOCK button.

x At anytime you can change the set temperature using the +” and “-” buttons.
x The new set temperature will be retained until the next program starts.
8. Economy Mode
Economy mode overrides the set point temperature and uses pre-set economy temperatures for heat
and cool when you leave home or office for any period of time - vacation, unexpected event - and the
system will work in Economy mode.
(To set temperature for economy mode See #10.6, #10.7)
8.1 Set the thermostat to work in Economy Mode
x Switch the thermostat ON.
x Press and hold AUTO FAN button (5 seconds) until EC (Economy) appears on display.
x When returning home (office) - press and hold the AUTO FAN button (3 sec.) until set
temperature returns to normal.
In Economy Mode, none of the buttons function except AUTO FAN.

10.4 Set High temperature alarm – HA
x Press the ALARM LIMIT button again - the display will show:
x Adjust the temperature using the “+” and “-” buttons.
Range: 8qC-46qC. When ambient temperature is reached, the alarm activates.
(Red light flashes and dry contact alarm, if available, activates).
10.5 Set Low temperature alarm - LA
x Press the ALARM LIMIT again - the display will show:
x Adjust the temperature using the “+” and “-” buttons.
Range: 2qC-39qC. When ambient temperature is reached, the alarm activates.
(Red light flashes and dry contact alarm, if available, activates).
The thermostat will not allow you to adjust low temperature alarm to be higher than
high temperature alarm.

x Press the ALARM LIMIT button again - the display will show:
