GARDEN STRUCTURES
& FURNITURE
ABOUT YOUR PRODUCT CARE AND MAINTENANCE
Congratulaons, this product is cra-
ed from solid wood. Wood, as a build-
ing component, is recognized by the
USDA
1
as yielding fewer greenhouse
gases than other common materials.
The use of wood provides substanal
environmental benets when com-
pared to oil-based plascs or energy-
intensive metals. Using untreated
wood in your garden is not only the
beauful choice, but it reduces the
exposure of plants, people and ani-
mals to potenally harmful chemicals.
Most of our garden structures are un-
stained, while our furniture features a
natural linseed oil stain.
Like all wood products subjected to
weather, small hairline cracks may
develop. These should in no way im-
pair the strength and usefulness of
the product.
You can trust LWO for exceponal,
environmentally conscious, outdoor
products.

USDA.com Release No. 0426.11
Garden Structures: If le unstained your garden structure will silver within a year or
two of exposure to the elements. Silvering is a natural occurrence and is oen con-
sidered a desirable look. The overall integrity of your garden structure is not compro-
mised during this process. The inherent rot and pest resistance of the wood will pro-
vide a degree of protecon and help your garden structure to endure over the years.
If you wish to further protect your structure from the long-term eects of aging or to
stabilize the color/nish of your product, we recommend applying a quality water or
oil-based nish. Best results can be achieved by using Penon (www.penon.com,
1.800.PENOFIN) as per manufacturer's instrucons. If you desire to paint your prod-
uct, we recommend a quality oil or acrylic primer coat prior to applying the nal
coat(s). Be sure to allow sucient me for your product to dry.
Furniture: To condion or recondion the wood in your furniture we recommend
usage of a number of widely available furniture oils. Condioning before rst use is
oponal, but if choosing to do so, it is easiest to apply prior to assembly. This condi-
oning will revitalize the wood aer what may have been a long duraon since it
received its factory applied oil nish. Howards Orange Oil comes in a handy spray
bole (www.howardproducts.com, 1.800.266.9545), and Watco makes a series of
quality products including Teak Oil (www.westernwooddoctor.com, 1.800.323.3584).
Regular recondioning will keep the furniture looking its best. Before storing or cov-
ering for the winter is a good me to recondion and to reghten bolts and screws
that have
loosened with use.
Aer 12-48 months your furniture may have silvered under the suns rays. This is a
natural occurrence and is oen viewed as a favorable state. Alternavely, if you wish
to recapture a darker look, we recommend applying an oil stain. Two good opons
are
Cabots Stain (www.cabotstain.com, 1.800.USStain) and Penons Hardwood Pene-
trang Oil Finish (www.penon.com, 1.800.PENOFIN). Both are widely available and
contain solids that will restore a darker color to the wood. Please be sure to follow
the manufacturers direcons for preparaon and applicaon.
