Lenovo systems manage everything that changes when your location changes, not just your
Internet connection.
Lenovo ThinkPad Reserve Edition notebook
Executive support staff: A member of your specially trained support staff will answer your calls
24 hours a day, no matter where in the world you call from. There are no answering machines
and no phone menus.
Personal welcome service.
At your discretion, your support staff will assist you in customizing your personal settings,
optimizing system and security features, and migrating information from your old computer.
Fast and convenient on-site support.
In most major cities throughout the world, on-site warranty service is available within four
hours. In most other locations, on-site service is provided by the end of the next business day.
This is conveniently included for three years from time of purchase.
Blue-button instant access.
You may prefer to work with your support staff via instant messaging, even allowing them to
share your desktop remotely during advanced support activities — any time and anywhere
you have Internet access, at the touch of a button.
Absolute confidentiality.
Your information is safest with you. Lenovo will never ask you to part with your hard drive.
Your support staff can even help you configure automated backup and archiving features to
keep your personal information secure.
Accidental damage protection.
Reduce downtime and unexpected expenses associated with repairing or replacing
accidentally damaged IT components.
Proactive maintenance and tune-up.
Your executive support staff will schedule routine maintenance, at your convenience, to keep
your Lenovo ThinkPad Reserve Edition operating at peak performance.
Processor technology: Intel Core 2 Duo processor L7500
Data protection: Integrated fingerprint reader technology from ThinkVantage technologies to
help protect access to your ThinkPad notebook and data.
Because fingerprints are unique, using them along with other security measures can provide
strong security.
Fingerprint reader is built right into the palm rest area of the computer. When used with
Password Manager and the Client Security Solution, pass your finger over the reader instead
of typing passwords or combine it with passwords.
Combine the integrated fingerprint reader with Password Manager and the Client Security
Solution for strong security measures that are easy to follow. Security software is preloaded
for an integrated solution out of the box.
Administrators can implement strong security policies and users can meet ongoing password
requirements easily.
Data security: New 32-byte HDD password, together with the ability to disable all input and
output ports on a BIOS level, guarantees that information that is meant to be private stays
private whether the threat comes from within or outside the company.
LCD TFT display: The Lenovo ThinkPad Reserve Edition notebook includes a 307.3-mm
(12.1-in) TFT display with 1024 x 768 resolution UltraLight panel.

Keyboard and TrackPoint® with enhanced features: The keyboard has the familiar layout
and quality of a ThinkPad notebook with function keys that allow you to quickly access system
functions such as power management control.
You can use any of three new key combinations to easily manage your ThinkPad system:
Fn + F5 for wireless radio control
Fn + F7 for Presentation Director to toggle through different displays and adjust resolutions
Fn + F9 for Easy Eject to seamlessly remove add-on peripherals such as a memory key
Each of these quick key combinations launches a menu that assists you in using ThinkPad
innovations.
The TrackPoint with enhanced features incorporates the press-to-select and release-to-select
function.
Just tap the TrackPoint to speed icon launches and help reduce keystrokes. The programmable
center button enables fast scrolling of Web sites (requires Internet access; not included) and
documents or fast panning across wide spreadsheets. Switch to the innovative magnifying glass
feature to enlarge screen views in any application. Selected models include integrated fingerprint
reader technology.

Lenovo notebooks announced April 2007, or after, have a new 64-bit architecture.
The standard memory can be expanded to 3 or 4 GB of addressable memory, depending on whether the
operating system is a 32- or 64-bit operating system. The new notebooks with a Windows Vista 32-bit or
previous Windows 32-bit operating system can support up to 3 GB of addressable memory. The new
notebooks with a Windows Vista 64-bit operating system can support up to 4 GB of addressable memory.
Recommended for memory expansion are 512 MB, 1 GB, and 2 GB PC2-5300 DDR2 SDRAM 667 MHz
SO DIMM.
11
For PCs without a separate video card, memory supports both system and video. Accessible system
memory is up to 256 MB less than the amount stated, depending on video mode.
12
As an ENERGY STAR partner, Lenovo has determined that all ThinkPad notebook systems capable of
running Windows 64-bit operating systems, except those with Intel Celeron processors, are designed to
meet the EPA ENERGY STAR 4.0 guidelines for energy efficiency. These 64-bit capable ThinkPad
notebooks with Intel integrated graphics and those with graphics cards that have 128 MB video memory
use less than 14 watts of power in idle state. 64-bit capable ThinkPad notebooks with graphics cards that
have 256 MB video memory use less than 22 watts in idle state. Both need to be enabled by the power
management software provided with the systems.

should be a reliable computing asset for many years. Harsh environments and abuse can
damage ThinkPad systems since they are not intended to withstand extreme temperatures, dust,

Vendor software compatibility
Lenovo tests a large number of commonly used and available applications for compatibility with
its ThinkPad systems using supporting operating systems and configurations. In general, you
can expect that most vendor applications designed to run on supported operating systems and
Intel®-compatible system architectures should be compatible with a ThinkPad system. Some
configurations, however, may not be compatible.
Lenovo does not warrant or support vendor software products, nor guarantee compatibility of
those products with Lenovo systems. Refer to the applicable warranty and license terms
provided by the respective vendors.
Lenovo ThinkPad Reserve Edition notebooks contain BIOS in their flash ROM and a GUI to set
up the system and power management features for Windows® users. BIOS provides the
hardware instructions and interfaces designed to support the standard features of the ThinkPad

service provider representative or your reseller for country- and location-specific information.
Customer replaceable unit (CRU) service: Under CRU service, your service provider will ship
CRUs to you for you to install. Most CRUs are easy to install whereas others may require some
technical skills and tools. CRU information and replacement instructions are shipped with the
product and are available from Lenovo at any time upon request. You may request that a service
provider install some CRUs under one of the other types of warranty service designated for your
product. Installation of external CRUs (such as mice, keyboards, or monitors) is your
responsibility. Lenovo specifies in the materials shipped with a replacement CRU whether the
defective CRU must be returned. When a return is required, return instructions, a prepaid return
shipping label, and a container are included with the replacement CRU. You may be charged for
the replacement CRU if your service provider does not receive the defective CRU within 30 days
of your receipt of the replacement.
On-site service: Your service provider will either repair or exchange the failing machine at your
location and verify its operation. You must provide suitable working area to allow disassembly
and reassembly of the machine. The area must be clean, well lit and suitable for the purpose.
For some machines, certain repairs may require sending the machine to a designated service
center.
International Warranty Service (IWS): IWS is available during the warranty period to
customers who travel or relocate to countries where their computer is sold and serviced by a
service provider authorized to perform warranty service. Eligible Lenovo computers are identified
by their four-digit machine type.
You can obtain IWS through the method of service, such as CRU, depot, carry-in, or on-site,
provided in the servicing country. Service methods and procedures vary by country, and some
service or parts may not be available in all countries. Service centers in certain countries may
not be able to service all models of a particular machine type. In addition, some countries may
have fees and restrictions that apply at the time of service.
Note: Due to the earth's magnetic field, CRT monitors are manufactured to work in northern,
southern, and equatorial regions of the earth and may not produce a satisfactory image when
moved between them. Any required adjustment (if possible) is not covered under IWS and may
be subject to a chargeable action. The magnetic field does not affect flat-panel LCD monitors
and ThinkPad LCD displays.
