Safety instrucons
When using any electrical appliance, basic safety precauons should
always be followed, including the following;
This appliance is intended for indoor, household use. Unintended
use or operaon may result in personal injury, damage to property
or damage to the appliance that will void the warranty.
This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and
above and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental
capabilies or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been
given supervision and/or instrucon concerning safe use of the
appliance and the understanding of hazards. Children shall not play
with the appliance. Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be
made by children unless they are older than 8 years old and
supervised.
Keep the appliance and its cord out of reach of children less than 8
years old.
Never handle or operate any appliance with wet or moist hands.
Do not immerse appliance, cord or plug in water or other liquids.
Take care whilst cleaning.
If the appliance has fallen in water do not reach for it, immediately
switch the appliance o at the mains and unplug it.
Ensure that the cord is not in a posion where it can be pulled or
tripped over accidentally. Never use the cord to carry or pull the
appliance. Do not let the cord hang over the edge of a table or
counter.
Keep the cord away from heated surfaces.
Do not use the appliance if it has malfunconed, been dropped or
damaged in anyway. If the unit has been damaged take the unit for
examinaon and/or repair by an authorised service agent.
Do not aempt to open the appliance, repair or modify the
appliance, use the appliance for unintended applicaons or use
accessory aachments not recommended by the manufacturer.
Failure to follow these instrucons may result in re, electrical
shock, or risk of injury to persons.
Do not place the appliance near a naked ame, hot gas or electric
burners, or any appliances generang heat.
Always remove the plug safely from the socket aer use. Do not
pull from the cord.
Ensure that all packaging is removed before use.
Appliance Specic Safety Instrucons
During normal use this appliance produces hot water and
steam that may scald or burn. Use appropriate containers
and keep hands away from the water and steam outlets.
The outer surfaces of the appliance become hot during use and
remain hot for a period of me aer use
Always use the handles and controls provided. Avoid contacng
hot parts during use or aer use unless parts have cooled.
Do not aempt to remove the porta lter when the appliance is
operang. Be aware that the lter may contain boiling water.
Do not aempt to use the appliance without water in the water
tank.
Do not leave the appliance switched on and unaended. Children
should be supervised to ensure they do not contact or play with
the appliance.
Check that the appliance is switched o before connecng to the
power outlet. Always switch o before removing the plug and
allow to cool before removing aachments, moving or cleaning the
appliance.
Do not immerse the Appliance, supply cord or plug in water or any
other liquid.
Do not operate the appliance by means of an external mer or
separate remote-control system.

Read all of the instrucons carefully before using the appliance
Unpack the box with care, keep all the packaging materials unl you are sased
everything is present and in working order.
Do not discard any packaging unl all accessories have been found.
Inspect the product before use. The appliance cord and plug must not have any
damage that could aect operaon.
Before rst use
Before use please ensure you are familiar with the switch locaons and
operang posions.
Idenfy the locaon of the ON/O switch (C). The switch is pressed once
to switch on and must be held down for 3 seconds to switch o. The
Power Indicator (D) will illuminate when power is on.
Note: The heater operates when the Power is on. Always switch o aer
use.
Ensure the Pump control switch (B) is in the <<O>> posion.
Ensure the Coee/steam switch (A) is in the upper, <<Coee>> posion.
Ensure the steam control lever (M) is turned fully clockwise to O.

Automac power o funcon
Energy Eciency regulaons mandate that coee making appliances automacally
switch o when not used.
To comply with these requirements the appliance will switch o under the
following condions:
Aer pressing ON/OFF buon, if there is no operaon within 25 minutes, the
unit will power o automacally.
Aer pressing the ON/OFF buon, if the pump operates for 3 minutes, the
appliance will power o automacally.
If aer pressing the ON/OFF buon and seng the appliance to make steam, if
the appliance remains in the steam seng it will power o automacally aer 25
minutes.
If the pump control buon or coee/steam buon are operated, this will be
counted as a new operaon and the power o me will be reset to the last
operaon.
To turn o the power, the ON/OFF buon should be de-pressed and held for 3
seconds.
First use of the Barista Espresso Coee Maker
Remove the water tank (N), wash with warm soapy water, rinse and dry. Fill the
water tank with fresh drinking water. Do not exceed the MAX level mark, and
replace the tank on the appliance.
Place the one or two cup coee basket (R, S) into the Portalter (G) without
coee.
Align the Porta Filter locaons with the appliance at the insert locaon.
Raise the porta lter and rotate it an-clockwise unl it is locked in posion.
Place an espresso cup or container onto the drip tray (J).
Make sure the ON/O switch, Pump and steam control are in the OFF posion.
The Coee/Steam switch should be in the <<Coee>> posion.
Connect to plug to the power outlet. Press the ON/OFF buon (C) down to turn
the appliance on. The power lamp will be illuminated.
Press down the pump control switch (B) to the lower, “P” posion. The pump will
pump water. When there is water owing out of the Portalter, switch the
pump o by pressing and release the pump control buon.
With the coee/steam buon in the upper <<Coee>> posion the water will be
heated unl the Water temperature indicator (E) is illuminated.
De-press the pump control switch (B) to the <<P>> posion. The pump will
operate and hot water will ow from the portalter (G).
Note: The water pump may be very noisy during rst use as air is removed from the
system.
When the tank has emped, empty and wash the containers used to collect the
water.
The appliance is now ready to use.
Pre-heang
Pre-heang the appliance and cups will ensure the best condions for making
coee.
Fill the tank with fresh, cold drinking water and ensure the switch posions are
set as idened in the Inial posions secon idened on the previous page.
Place the one or two cup coee basket (R, S), as required, into the Portalter (G)
without coee.
Align the Porta Filter locaons with the appliance at the insert locaon.
Raise the porta lter and rotate it an-clockwise unl it is locked in posion (Fig
1)
Place the coee cup underneath the Portalter (G).
Connect the plug to the power outlet and press the ON/OFF buon down to turn
the appliance on. The power lamp will be illuminated.
Press down the pump control switch (B) to the lower, “P” posion. When there is
water owing out of the Portalter, switch the pump o by pressing and release
the pump control buon.
With the coee/steam buon in the upper <<Coee>> posion the water will be
heated unl the temperature ready indicator (E) is illuminated.
Press down the pump control switch (B) to pump hot water through the
appliance into the coee cup.
When the coee cup is full of hot water, stop the pump. The cup should be
emped and replaced on the drip tray. The pre-heang has been completed.
Making an Espresso Coee
With appliance prepared as idened in pre-heang above, ensure the coee is
ground before inserng it into the porta lter.
Cauon: The portalter and coee basket will be hot.
Cauon: Vibraon from the pump can cause the cup posion to move.
Always monitor the cup posion and ow of coee.
 Remove the preheated porta lter by rotang the handle clockwise to the
unlock posion.
 Add the appropriate amount of coee using the measuring spoon.
1 cup - 1 level scoop
2 cups - 2 level scoops
3. Using the tamper end of the measuring spoon, lightly press down the coee
into the basket.
4. Wipe away any excess coee from the rim of the portalter, align the portalter
with the appliance locaon and turn an-clockwise to lock into posion.
5. Wait unl the green Water temperature indicator (E) is illuminated and de-
press the pump control switch (B) to the <<P>> posion. The pump will operate
and hot water will ow from the portalter (G).
Note: The green indicator light may turn o and on during the coee making or
steaming operaon.
6. Observe the coee owing from the portalter into the cup. The coee
strength will decrease with me indicated by the colour of the liquid becoming
lighter. Depress and release the Pump switch to <<O>> when the required
strength/volume is achieved. Remove the cup.
Another espresso coee can be made by waing 30 seconds to allow excess water
to drain from the Portalter then repeat the steps 1—6 above.
Frothing Milk / Making Cappuccino
A cappuccino is made by preparing a shot of espresso coee and adding 100mls of
milk frothed and heated separately by the steam wand.
Be aware that the volume of milk increases by a factor of 2 when frothed.
Use full fat or semi-skimmed milk. Skimmed milk will result in poor frothing results.
Select an appropriate stainless steel milk container with a handle to keep hands
away from the steam nozzle (K).
Warning: The following operaon produces steam that can burn or scald.
Note: The pump must be operated to prime the water heater.
Note: The steam funcon will switch o automacally aer 3 minutes.
 Check that the controls are in the inial posion, Pump O and Mode switch set
to <<coee>>.
 Turn the appliance on and operate the pump switch (B). Turn the pump o
immediately when water ows from the portalter.
3. Depress the funcon switch (A) to the lower <<Steam>> posion.
4. When the temperature indicator (E) is illuminated purge any water in the steam
wand by placing the wand in a separate container and operang the steam
controller ON by turning it an-clockwise, then O—clockwise.
5. Dip the steam wand into the milk container and posion the nozzle just under
the surface of the milk.
6. Turn the steam control lever (M) an-clockwise to start making steam.
7. The milk can be frothed by moving the nozzle to the surface and just below the
surface of the milk. This may require pracce to achieve the correct results.
8. Use a temperature probe to achieve the desired milk temperature, 60 to 65C.
9. Turn the steam o by turning the steam control fully an-clockwise.
Note: Opmum milk temperature is between 60 and 65C. Heang the milk above
65C may cause a loss of taste or burn the milk.
10. Immediately aer frothing the milk wipe any excess milk from the steam wand
and nozzle. Place the water container under the steam wand and turn the steam
On then O to clean any milk from the inside of the steam tube and nozzle.
Cleaning and Maintenance
Turn o the appliance, unplug and allow to fully cool before cleaning.
When emptying the coee basket, ip the press bar on the portalter handle (H)
to hold the coee basket in place. Return the press bar before assembling the
portalter to the appliance.
The outer enclosure is stainless Steel and should be cleaned with a damp cloth.
Do not immerse in water, apply water to the enclosure and do not use abrasive
cloths or cleaning substances.
Remove the drip tray and water tank frequently, wash in warm soapy water, rinse
and dry before placing back on the appliance.
Remove the Portalter by rotang it clockwise, remove any coee residue and
clean in warm soapy water. Rinse with clean water and dry before replacing it on
the appliance.
Cleaning and maintenance - Descaling
Descale the product at least once a month.
Important! Failure to descale the product can result in reduced water ow, a poor
coee making experience and product damage.
Use a household descaling product recommended for coee makers or water
heang appliances. Always follow the safety and user instrucons provided.
 Fill the water tank to the Max level with water and descaling soluon.
 Fit the Portalter, without coee and place a metal container under the water
outlet.
 Using the “Pre-heang” procedure, press the ON/OFF buon to switch on and
the red lamp will illuminate.
 Press the pump control to On and set the funcon switch to coee. Allow water
to ow from the outlet for 5 seconds then stop the pump and turn the ON/O
Switch to O.
 Allow the product to stand for at least 15 minutes.
 Press the ON/O buon to ON and wait unl the green lamp is illuminated.
 Press the pump buon to on and allow 300ml (2 cups) of water to ow. Turn
the Pump O and the On/O switch to O
 Press the ON/O buon to ON and wait unl the green lamp is illuminated.
 Set the funcon switch to Steam
 Place the metal container under the steam wand, turn the steam control to ON
and make steam for 2 minutes. Turn the On/O Switch of O.
 Allow the product to stand for at least 15 minutes.
 Repeat steps 6 to 11 at least 3 mes.
 Set the funcon switch to coee, turn the appliance and pump on and allow
the water to empty from the tank.
 Remove the water tank and rinse with clean tap water. Rell the water tank
and replace on the appliance. Repeat steps 6 to 10 unl all of the clean water
has ushed through the appliance.

Electrical Safety
WARNING! This appliance must be connected to an earthed electrical power
supply. The green/yellow conductor in the supply cord must be connected to the
Earth terminal in the plug. The power supply must have an Earth connecon.
Precauons should be followed for safe cable management and connecon to the
power supply
If a new mains plug needs to be ed follow the ng instrucons supplied with
good quality BS1363A plugs. If in doubt consult a qualied electrician or appliance
repair agent.
Remove and safely dispose of the old plug
Connect the brown lead to the live terminal “L” in the new plug
Connect the Blue lead to the Neutral “N” terminal
Connect the green/yellow lead to the earth “E” terminal
Recommended fuse: 13A.
If an extension cable is required, it must have an earth conductor. To avoid
overheang the extension cable should be rated no less than 13A and be fully
unwound before use.

domesc use only and is not for commercial use.
Abuse of your product will invalidate the guarantee. Returned goods can only be
accepted if repackaged properly within the original colour product box, and
presented with the original receipt of sale/order number. This does not aect your
statutory rights.
Returned products must be cleaned and returned to us in as close to delivery
condion as possible.
If your product develops a problem within the rst 12 months of the xed warranty,
we will pay all shipping costs to have it
returned to us. Aer 12 months the customer will be liable for the cost of returning
the product to us. We will then pay to have the repaired/replaced item shipped
back to the customer.
