The refrigerant lsobutane is a natural gas of high environmen-
tal compatibility but which

inflammable. Therefore, it is

sential to ensure that the ducts of the refrigerant circuit do
not get damaged.

The refrigerator
is
where food stays crisp and fresh for
a
long

you will have the possibility to store frozen food and to make
ice
cubes.
The rating plate with the technical data of the appliance, is si-
tuated inside the refrigerator, on the right hand side adjacent
to the crisper
(Fig. 1).
Transit damages must be reported to your dealer within 24
hours of receipt of the appliance.
This appliance has been designed, built and marketed in
compliance with:
-the safety targets of the "Low Voltage"
EEC
Directive
73/23;
-the protection requirements of the
"EMC"
EEC
Directive 89/336 amended by EEC Directive 93/68.

Ensure that the appliance is not damaged. Transit damages
must be reported to your dealer within 24 hours of receipt of
the appliance.
-
The appliance should not be installed close to heat sources:
cookers, boilers, sunlight,
etc.
It must be however be located
in
a
well ventilated dry space
(Fig. 2).
-
The appliance should stand level, this can be achieved by
adjusting the front feet
(Fig. 3).
-
Fit the spacers, if supplied, to top of the condenser
(Fig. 3A).
-
Under no circumstances should the ventilation grille, above
the condenser, be covered
(Fig.
4).
-
Leave
a
minimum of
50
mm space between the cabinet top
and kitchen furniture
(Fig.
5).
-
Leave the appliance to stand for one hour before connecting
it
to the electricity supply.
-
During this time, clean the interior (see chapter
"Maintenance") and fit the loose accessories
(Fig.
6).

Check that the voltage on the rating plate corresponds to the
voltage in your home
(Fig. 7).
Connect the appliance to the
mains and ensure that it is working correctly before storing
food
.
The earthing of this appliance
is
compulsory by law. The
manufacturer
will
accept no liability for damage to per-
sons or objects arising from the non-observance of this
requirement.

Fuse replacement
If the mains lead
of
this appliance
is
fitted with
a
BS
1363A
13
amp fused plug, to change
a
fuse in this type of plug use an
A.S.T.A. approved fuse to
BS
1362 type and proceed
as
follows:
1.
Remove the fuse cover (A) and fuse (B)
2. Fit replacement 13A fuse into fuse cover
3. Refit both into plug.
WARNING -THIS APPLIANCE MUST
BE
EARTHED
IMPORTANT:
The fuse cover must be refitted when chang-
ing
a
fuse and if the fuse cover is lost the plug must not be
used until
a
correct replacement
is
fitted. Correct replace-
ments
are
identified by the colour insert or the colour embos-
sed in words on the base of the plug. Replacement fuse covers
are available from your local electrical store.

If the fitted plug is not suitable for your socket outlet, then
it
should be cut off and disposed of in order to avoid
a
possible
shock hazard should it be inserted into
a
13A socket elsewhere.
A suitable alternative plug should then be fitted to the cable.
The wires in this mains lead are coloured in accordance with
the following code:
BLUE "NEUTRAL" ("N")
BROWN "LIVE" ("L")
GREEN AND YELLOW "EARTH" ("E)
1.
The GREEN AND YELLOW wire must be connected to the ter-
minal in the plug which is marked with the letter
"E"
or by the
Earth symbol

or coloured green or green and yellow.
2. The BLUE wire must be connected to the terminal which
is
marked with the letter "N" or coloured black.
3. The BROWN wire must be connected to the terminal which
is marked with the letter
"L"
or coloured red.
For the Republic of Ireland only
The information given in respact of Great Britain will frequently
apply, but
a
third type of plug and socket is also used, the 2-pin,
side earth type. In this
case,
the wire which is coloured GREEN
AND YELLOW must be connected to the EARTH contact, and
the other two wires to the two pins, irrespective of colour. The
supply to the socket must be fitted with a 16 amp fuse.
OPERATION
With the appliance plugged in, the interior light should come
on when the door is opened.
Turn the thermostat control knob as indicated in chapter
"Thermostat".
The appliance is ready for use.
To interrupt the operation of the appliance temporarily, turn
the thermostat control knob to position
"O"
(Fig.
8).
THERMOSTAT
The thermostat is positioned with the interior light on the
right hand wall of the refrigerator compartment. It adjusts the
interior temperature.
To
obtain the correct storage temperature of foods, we sug-
gest you adjust the thermostat control knob as follows:

The positions of the thermostat control knob and of the drip
tray are affected by the location of the appliance, the tempe-
rature of the surrounding air, the frequency of the door ope-
ning.
To
adjust the drip tray lift
it
at
the front and align
it
on the po-
sition required.
USE
OF
THE REFRIGERATOR
COMPARTMENT
(Fig.
9)
All
items stored in the refrigerator compartment should be
wrapped in aluminium or plastic sheeting or kept in
a
covered
container. This prevents food from becoming dry on the surfa-
ce and stops strong smells and flavours being passed from
one food to another.
The coldest section of the refrigerator compartment
is
in the
bottom of the liner.
Different foods are best stored in the positions indicated he-
reafter:
Cooked foods, meats, jellies, etc.:
these should be stored
on the top grids, under the low temperature compartment.
Meats, fruits, vegetables (sausages, fish, etc.):
these
should be stored in the bottom of the liner or in the crisper.
Eggs, cheese and dairy produces:
these should be stored in
the refrigerator compartment door.
Canned food:
once the can has been opened, transfer un-
used food into a non-metallic container.
Important: Do
not place foodstuffs or containers against the
rear wall. Store food
so
as
to permit the free circulation
of
air.
Do not line the shelves with paper or plastic. Allow cooked
food to cool before storing in the refrigerator compartment.

Buying and storing commercially pre-packaged frozen
food
-
Make sure that wrapper or packet
is
intact
as
the food may
deteriorate. If
a
package bulges or sags or has spots of moi-
sture on it, it may not have been kept cold enough and the
contents may have lost their original quality.
Please note that any food, even if partially thawed, cannot be
re- frozen but must be eaten within
24
hours, or re-frozen af-
ter cooking.
-
When buying frozen food, it
is
suggested to use thermical
bags or cold boxes. Contrarily, they should be the last purcha-
ses made and should be well wrapped in newspaper. When
home, store them in the low temperature compartment with
the least possible delay.
-
Store frozen food no longer than the packet instructions re-
commend. If no indication
is
given, store frozen food for a
maximum period of
1
month.
Thawing of frozen food
Here are some basic suggestions:
Raw vegetables
-
do
not thaw: put straight into boiling wa-
ter and cook
as
usual.
Meat
(large cuts): thaw in the refrigerator compartment
without unwrapping them. Before cooking, leave at room
temperature for some hours; (small cuts): thaw at room tem-
perature or cook directly.
Fish:
thaw in the refrigerator compartment without unwrap-
ping or cook directly before being completely thawed.
Previously cooked food:
re-heat in the oven without remo-
ving from its aluminium container.
Fruit:
thaw in the refrigerator.
Production of ice cubes
Fill the trays up to
314
of their depth, then place them in the
low temperature compartment

Attention
-
Do not store warm foods in the low temperature compart-
ment, but let them cool down at ambient temperature.
-
Do not store sealed containers of carbonated drinks in the
low temperature compartment
as
they may explode. Only use
plastic containers.
-
Some products, such as ice lollies, must not be consumed
straight from the low temperature compartment.
-
Do not
eat
ice
cubes or ice lollies immediately after their re-
moval from the low temperature compartment
as
they may gi-
ve rise to "cold" burns.
DEFROSTING
(Fig.
11)
Defrost when the layer of frost coating the low temperature
compartment reaches
a
3
mm thickness.
If you store foods in the
low
temperature compartment,
it
is
suggested to defrost using the "accelerated" method, to
avoid deterioration of foods.
If the low temperature compartment
is
empty, the "normal"
defrosting method is suggested
as
this can be carried out
overnight.
TO DEFROST
-
Ensure that the defrost water container
is
empty and that
the drip tray is correctly positioned under the low temperature
compartment.
-
Empty the low temperature compartment, wrap foods in se-
veral layers of newspaper and place them in the main com-
partment.
Remove the ice cube tray. It is not necessary to empty the re-
mainder of the refrigerator.
Accelerated defrosting
-
Disconnect the refrigerator from the mains supply.
-
Ensure that the drip tray
is
correctly positioned
as
previously
mentioned on shelf.
-
Place
a
bowl of warm water
(50°C
max) in the low tempera-
ture compartment and leave the refrigerator door open.
.
-
Renew the warm water if necessary.
-
When all the frost has melted, clean the appliance.
Re-
con-
nect to mains supply and place frozen foods in the low tempe-
rature compartment.
Normal defrosting
-
Press the button in the centre of the thermostat knob and
close the door.
When all the frost has melted, the button will return to
its
normal position and the refrigerator will start automatically.
-
Replace the ice cube trays in the low temperature compart-
ment.
Note:
Do not use electric fires or other sources of heat to ac-
celerate defrosting. Do not attempt
to
remove ice from the
low temperature compartment with sharp instruments.

A periodic and proper maintenance will ensure a longer life to
your appliance.
When carrying out cleaning operations or defrosting, always
disconnect the appliance from the mains supply.
Clean periodically the inside of the refrigerator (ideally during
defrosting) with a sponge dampened in a solution of
lukewarm water and vinegar then dry carefully
(Fig.
12).
Never use abrasives.
Clean the outside with a damp soft cloth.
To clean the black grill, use a vacuum cleaner
(Fig.
13).

Empty the appliance, disconnect from mains supply, defrost
and clean the inside. Leave the door open
to
prevent the ap-
pliance from smelling musty

The incorrect operation of the appliance is not always due to
a fault but it may be the result of poor installation or usage.
To prevent unnecessary service calls for which you will be
charged, we suggest you consult this trouble-shooting guide.
1.
The temperature in the compartment
is
not cold
enough.
Check that:
-
the door is properly closed.
-the thermostat is in the correct position.
-the appliance is not too close to a heat source.
-
the ”black grill” is clean and the air flow over it
is
not restricted.
-
in the low temperature compartment, the layer of frost is
not excessive.
2.
The temperature in the refrigerator
is
too cold.
Check
that the thermostat and the drip tray are in the correct position.
3.
The refrigerator
is
excessively noisy (Fig.
15).
Check
that:
-
the refrigerator is not in contact with adjacent fitments which
may cause noise due to vibration.
-
the refrigerator system pipework at the rear of the cabinet
is
not vibrating against the cabinet.
4.
The appliance does not work at all.
Check that:
-
the mains plug is making good contact with the supply
socket.
-
the supply fuse is intact by connecting another appliance to
the supply socket.
For Great Britain only
Check the plug fuse (See chapter “Moulded Plugs”).
-
Check removable plugs for loose internal connections and
ti-
ghten if necessary. Loose connections can cause overheating
of the plug: where this has occurred replace the plug.
-
the supply cable is not broken.
5.
The interior light does not work.
Check that: there is
not a power failure.
Contrarily, unplug the appliance and remove the eventual
lamp cover by means of a screwdriver. Check that the bulb
is
not loose. Tighten if necessary.
To
change the faulty bulb,
proceed as above and fit a replacement bulb of not more than
15 W.
NOTE:
When replacing a damaged supply cord be sure the new cord
is correctly clamped. Due
to
possible variations in the diameter
of replacement cord, the upper part of the cord clamp can be
inverted to cater for smaller diameter.
