INTRODUCTION
GOLDMUND LOGOS 2N – ACTIVE SUB-BASS SPEAKER
Goldmund was founded in 1978 and has ever since been dedicated to the accurate
reproduction of sound and image.
At Goldmund, we strive to lead in the creation, development and manufacture of the
industry’s most advanced technologies, including audio and video systems.
The guiding principle at Goldmund is to produce a precise sound with the least possible
loss of quality through the different stages. Goldmund will never adopt a technology before
it is sufficiently developed to satisfy the high quality standards we set. This is why
Goldmund has often rejected mainstream technologies and developed its own.

1 PRELIMINARIES
The Goldmund Logos 2N uses very innovative technology to achieve an unique level of
definition and neutrality in a sub-bass speaker system.
Please read very carefully the following instructions. This high-precision speaker is
extremely revealing and can provide the best sound only if it is used properly.
The Logos 2N is never used as a stand-alone speaker. Its most usual configuration is
associated to one or more pairs of Logos 1N Speakers in a 2 channels or multi-channel
speaker system.
2 UNPACKING
The LOGOS 2N requires special attention during unpacking, although they are quite light,
we recommend the unpacking and installation of this unit to be performed by two persons.
Some handling steps necessitate a lot of care.
ATTENTION
If you need to return the subwoofer to the factory or to your local representative for a
warranty repair, please note that it must be repacked in the original packing. This
packaging has been designed especially to protect the speaker in transit. Use of alternative
packaging will almost inevitably result in damage, which cannot be covered by the
warranty.

3 LOGOS 2N LOCALISATION
For optimal sonic result, it is essential that vibrations arising within the Logos 2N are
evacuated to ground effectively. Solid coupling with a very rigid floor is an essential
component in this process. If your speaker support is standing on a suspended floor, locate
at least two of the floor contacts above a supporting beam or close to a supporting wall.
The Logos 2 Frame is ideally suited to house the Logos 1N speaker plus Logos 2N system.
In stereo, the ideal location of the speaker in the room has to be found by experiment.
Avoid standing the speakers in the corner of the room and try to set them away from any
adjacent wall by 60cm (2 feet) minimum. If the room size permits, try separating the
speakers by minimum 3m (10’) to provide a large stereo image.
To arrive to the listener simultaneously, the speaker should be aligned to be at an equal
distance from the listener position and each speaker - see the schematic below:
Left
25° - 30°
Right
Listening
position
Depending on the room acoustics, the speakers may be standing parallel or slightly tilted
toward the listener.

4 CONNECTING THE BUILT-IN AMPLIFIER
The Logos 2N input is an unbalanced digital input (S/PDIF). The S/PDIF digital signal
presents two channels (Left and Right). By default the channel left is set from factory.
The Logos 2N uses a full digital filtering, the crossover is made by software inside the
acoustic processor (Metis 8, 10, Mimesis 15, 16/16HD, 32) with the standard or
personalized configuration file provided by the Goldmund Universal Configurator.
The signal is treated with the Proteus technology with all its corrections. The Logos 2N has
no active filtering (hardware crossover).
Only an official Goldmund representative is able to load and change the configuration file
into your acoustic processor, do not change it by yourself.
A wrong setting can damage the speakers; the warranty will not cover any factory change
without the approval of an official Goldmund representative.
ATTENTION The Logos 2N can only work in association with a Goldmund Acoustic
Processor: Metis 8, Metis 10, Mimesis 15, Mimesis 16/16HD, and Mimesis 32.
Please check the Goldmund webpage to learn more about the units we offer
(www.goldmund.com)
The digital filter is carried out inside the acoustic processor.
Connect the digital cable to the digital input connector. Since a digital Spdif cable carries 2
channels you may link the digital output to the next speaker to transfer the second channel.
The Logos 2N is automatically powered ON when it receives modulation. When the digital
input does not receive any data for 3 seconds, the subwoofer is muted. It is de-muted as
soon as a signal is present on the digital input and the orange led will light up.
Main power must not to be removed while the Logos 2N is not muted (please wait 3
seconds after the music stops before removing the mains power).
Waring: In case you desire to
use your Logos 2N with a Logos
1N active speaker, we remind
you that each speaker will need
an output of the acoustic
processor, a total of four outputs
will be needed to make a proper
stereo system. For more details,
contact your Goldmund official
representative.

5 RUNNING-IN THE LOGOS 2N
The Logos 2N has been tested at the factory. However, as any high quality speaker
system, the Logos 2N needs several days playing music before reaching the top sonic
quality they are built for. The few first hours can be very frustrating for a demanding
listener.
Do not hesitate to let them play quite loud for some time before attempting any real system
tuning or position adjustment.
6 MAITENANCE AND CLEANING
To clean the metal case of the speaker, you can use a clean, soft, damp cloth. Dampen
with water or a mild detergent solution. Avoid abrasive or harsh cleansers (e.g. Products
containing sodium carbonate).
The identification plate is plated with precious metal. Simply clean it with a soft cloth,
without any chemical solution.
