Safety Instrucon
Proper conguraon of all passwords and other security sengs is the responsibility of the
installer and/or user.
In the use of the product, you must be in strict compliance with the electrical safety regulaons
of the naon and region. Please refer to technical specicaons for detailed informaon.
Input voltage should meet both the SELV (Safety Extra Low Voltage) and the Limited Power
Source with 100 VAC to 240 VAC or 12 VDC according to the IEC60950-1 standard. Please refer to
technical specicaons for detailed informaon.
Do not connect several devices to one power adapter as adapter overload may cause over-
heang or a re hazard.
Please make sure that the plug is rmly connected to the power socket.
If smoke, odor or noise rises from the device, turn o the power at once and unplug the power
cable, and then please contact the service center.

Prevenve and Cauonary Tips
Before connecng and operang your device, please be advised of the following ps:
Ensure recorder is installed in a well-venlated, dust-free environment.
Recorder is designed for indoor use only.
Keep all liquids away from the device.
Ensure environmental condions meet factory specicaons.
Ensure recorder is properly secured to a rack or shelf. Major shocks or jolts to the recorder as a
result of dropping it may cause damage to the sensive electronics within the recorder.
Use the device in conjuncon with an UPS if possible.
Power down the recorder before connecng and disconnecng accessories and peripherals.
A factory recommended HDD should be used for this device.
Improper use or replacement of the baery may result in hazard of explosion. Replace with the
same or equivalent type only. Dispose of used baeries according to the instrucons provided by
the baery manufacturer.
When installing the device into a cabinet over 2U height, it is suggest to use rack shelf to bear
the weight. If the cabinet height is over 4U, it is suggested to use slide rails or rack shelf to bear
the weight.

Chapter 1 Get Started
1.1 Startup and Acvaon
1.1.1 Startup, Shutdown and Reboot
Proper startup and shutdown procedures are crucial to expand the life of your device.
Startup Your Device
Ensure the voltage of the extra power supply sases the requirement, and the ground connecon
is working properly.
Plug the power supply into an electrical outlet. It is HIGHLY recommended that an Uninterrupble
Power Supply (UPS) is used in conjuncon with the device.
Press the power buon on the panel. The power indicator LED would be lighted up which
indicang the device begins to start up.
Shut Down Your Device
Go to Menu → Shutdown . Click Shutdown, and click Yes.
If your device has a power buon on the front panel, you can also hold the power buon for 3
seconds, and then enter the admin user name and password to shut down your device.
Note
Do not press the POWER buon again when the system is shung down.
Reboot Your Device
Go to Menu → Shutdown . Click Reboot, and your device will restart.

1.1.2 Acvate Your Device
For the rst-me access, you need to acvate the device by seng an admin password. No
operaon is allowed before acvaon. You can also acvate the device via Web Browser, SADP or
Client Soware.
Steps
1. Enter the password in Create New Password and Conrm New Password.
Warning
We highly recommend you create a strong password of your own choosing (Using a minimum of
8 characters, including at least three of the following categories: upper case leers, lower case
leers, numbers, and special characters.) in order to increase the security of your product. And
we recommend you reset your password regularly, especially in the high security system,
reseng the password monthly or weekly can beer protect your product.

2. Enter the password in IP Camera Acvaon to acvate the IP camera(s) connected to the
device.
3. Oponal: Check Reserved E-mail for future password reseng.
What to do next
Export the GUID le to the USB ash driver for the future password reseng.
If you have enabled Reserved E-mail, connue to set the reserved email for the future password
reseng.

1.1.3 Login and Logout
User Login
You have to log in to the device before operang the menu and other funcons.
Steps
1. Select a user account.
2. Enter the password for the selected user.
3. Click Login.

For the admin, if you have entered the wrong password for 7 mes, the account will be
locked for 60 seconds.
For the operator, if you have entered the wrong password for 5 mes, the account will be
locked for 60 seconds.
User Logout
Aer logging out, the monitor turns to the live view mode and if you want to perform any
operaons, you need to enter user name and password log in again.
Go to Menu → Shutdown . Click Logout.

1.1.4 Set Unlock Paern
For the admin user, you can set the unlock paern for device login aer it is acvated.
Steps
1. Use mouse to draw a paern among the 9 dots on the screen. Release the mouse when the
paern is done.

Note
The paern shall have 4 dots at least.
Each dot can be connected for once only.
2. Draw the same paern again to conrm it.
Note
You can go to Menu Conguraon → User , and click to edit or disable the unlock paern.
