Hybrid 7500 Series
Overview
The Hybrid 7500 is designed for digital playback of audio for Music on Hold applications. The unit is unique as it has
two different methods of updating the content on the unit either by an Ethernet connection or traditional analog line.
The Ethernet line allows for more flexibility as the content can be delivered via the Content Management System (CMS).
Through the CMS software, updates can be scheduled and delivered automatically when the unit checks back to the server.
Alternately the analog line port can be used to deliver content to the Hybrid 7500. The unit has a “fax share port on the unit
so it can use an existing analog line without the need for a dedicated line. In most cases the unit would share a line with a
fax machine, but it can also be used on an analog extension or a dedicated line.
Connect - Automatically checks back to assigned server,
will temporarily display CMS request status.

Ethernet
1.) Connect the unit to an Ethernet connection on the network. (hub/router/switch)
2.) Connect one of the provided RCA cables for proper connection to the phone system. (Use the 600 ohm output first)
For those phone systems requiring more volume, use the 8 ohm output.
3.) Connect the AC power adapter to power the unit. (back of unit)
4.) Unit will go through an initialization and search the network for an availible IP address via DHCP.
If DHCP is not present, the unit will assign a temporary IP address.
5.) The display will post the IP address the unit has assigned.
* For those users who will want to use a static IP address see (figure 1.2 on page 3)
6.) Call your provider to verify the unit is connecting properly to the delivery server. (CMS)
* For some installs, providers may pre-arrange for an audio load. In this case, the display will show
downloading - with a % download completed.
* You can also press the connect button on the unit. First the unit will display “CMS request/ executing
Upon completion of the connect attempt, the display will read:
1.) CMS request connected - ok
2.) CMS request DNS lock up fail (you may be in Temporary IP”mode. Enter a fixed IP address if DHCP is not present.)
3.) CMS request audio fail (make sure there is no MP3 filter on your firewall.)
4.) CMS request connect # x fail
7.) Finally, adjust the volume (1-20) to the proper level for the on-hold by calling to the phone system and getting placed
on hold.

1.) Mount properly, plug in power, and connect the 600 ohm port to the phone system MOH port
(use 8 ohm if volume can not be adjusted loud enough).
2.) IMPORTANT: Unit must be the first device in line and in series with the fax machine. If client has DSL, install player
after the DSL filter.
3.) Find the telephone line going to the fax on the punch down block.
4.) Remove this line from the punch down block and attach an RJ-11 modular plug to the end you just removed.
5.) Plug this lines new RJ-11 modular plug into the “fax machine slot of the unit.
6.) Run a new wire with an RJ-11 plug on the end back to the punch down block where the fax line was connected.
Plug the RJ-11 plug into the “phone input on the unit.

The installer can also control and set up the unit from a computer on the LAN (local area network).
First, obtain the assigned or temporary IP address for the unit from the display. This will appear during boot up of the unit or can also be found by
pressing the info button once ( i.e. 192.168.155.10 ).
This IP address can now be typed into the address box of a standard web browser on the LAN.
(Figure 1.1 will now display on your web browser)

Creating a Banner:
To get to Figure 1.2, you need to click the Configure Unit link
Note: If you are entering a fixed IP address in a non - DHCP enviroment, your unit will power up with a temporary IP address
in the range of 169.254.X.Y. To communicate to this address range, you will need to temporarily change the IP address on your
computer to the same range. Set your computer’s IP address to 169.254.X.Z, where Z is a number in the range of 0 to 255,
and is different than “Y”as displayed by the HRL 7500. Your computer IP address setting is located in Control Panel - Network Connections
Local Area Connection -Properties - Internet protocol (TCP/IP).

Reset Functions:
The Hybrid 7500 has three different levels of resets. To reset the unit, push both the Connect and Info buttons at the
same time. As you hold in the two buttons, the LCD will progress through the three types of resets, and lastly, resets disabled.
Release the buttons when you see the type of reset desired.
Soft reset (1-5 seconds)
- Resets the firmware on the unit (power cycle).
Hard reset (6-15 seconds)
- Removes loaded audio
- Restores telco default passwords
- Resets ring count (telco) to factory default of 2
- Removes scrolling banner
- Restores phone home path to factory default
- Restores volume and all configurable settings to factory default
Factory reset (15 plus seconds)
- All the above reset functions plus restores firmware to factory original. (In the event that a later version of firmware
has been loaded into the unit.)

Q: I've connected the HRL7500 to the network and powered it up,
it received an IP address in the 169.254.x.x range. What does this
mean?
A: This is an indication that the unit was not able to acquire an IP
address via DHCP and is instead using what is known in technical
fields as Zeroconf, or Bonjour. this technology assigns a temporary
IP address to the HRL7500 so that it may be accessed via a web
browser and have a static IP address assigned.
Q: I have configured the HRL7500 with a static IP address, will it
be lost if there is a power outage?
A: No, the IP address is stored in flash memory and will not be lost
due to loss of power.
Telco
Q: I cannot connect to the Hybrid unit.
A: If you have a DSL line, you need an analog filter.
Q: The Hybrid is installed in parallel, why isn’t it working?
A: The Hybrid must be installed in series.
Q: The Hybrid unit is clicking repeatedly.
A: The fax line and phone lines are reversed.
Q: I have a 4 in 1 fax machine (copy, fax, printer, scanner)
how many rings should it be set to answer on?
A: It should be set to answer on 1 ring .
Q: There is no audio coming from the Hybrid.
A: Is the volume turned up?
- Are you using the correct cable for connection to phone system?
- Use headphones with an RCA connector to listen to 600 or 8 ohm
outputs.
Q: The audio outputs are noisy, scratchy or low.
A: Be sure the connection to the punchdown is a solid core wire,
not a stranded wire.
Q: The HRL7500 has a valid IP address for our LAN but clicking on
the "device.premtech.com" link on the status page results in the
following error message "The Ping was unable to execute."
A: This is most likely caused by either the lack of a DNS entry or a
bad DNS entry. The phone home path name could also be
mis-spelled.
Q: The HRL7500 gets an IP address from our DHCP server along
with DNS, Gateway and netmask info but is still unable to phone
home. What is the next step to fix this issue?
A: At this point you will need to check the logs on the CMS
(Content Management System) to determine if the unit is able to
phone home at all. The logs can be found in the "Log" tab after
double clicking on the HRL7500 in question. If in the logs, there is
no activity at all, it is indicative of a firewall or proxy issue and
changes must be made to the network configuration in order to
allow the HRL7500 to access the internet. If a proxy exception is
needed, set it to allow access to device.premtech.com by the
HRL7500.
If there is activity in the logs but the content seems to be sent
repeatedly it is usually an indication of a mp3 blocker. The content
management system is sending the mp3 but the HRL7500 is never
receiving it, and keeps requesting the mp3. If this is the case the mp3
blocker will either need to be removed or an exception added for
device.premtech.com and/or the HRL7500 in question.
Q: I installed the HRL7500 and connected it to my network. It has a
static IP address but it is not downloading content.
A: In the CMS, make sure the unit has content scheduled and
published. If so, make sure the unit has access to a name server.
If device.premtech.com is resolving correctly, make sure the
HRL 7500 isn't being blocked from device.premtech.com by your
firewall.
