Assembly
Please do not place your iPhone
®
or iPod touch
®
into the Premium Car Kit until after the Premium Car
Kit has been assembled.
Assembly. Assemble the Premium Car Kit as shown. Do not tighten the retaining ring.
Press the unlock button and raise the retaining arm all the way to the top.
Insert your iPhone or iPod touch into the Premium Car Kit. Slide your iPhone or iPod touch
into the connector on the bottom of the Premium Car Kit and then gently push your iPhone or iPod
touch towards the Premium Car Kit.
Press the release button and push down on the retaining arm to lock your iPhone or iPod touch in
place.
Check for an uneven gap

The gap between the iPhone or iPod touch and
the Premium Car Kit should be even. If it is
uneven, you can slide the back support adjust
switch on the back to push out the adjustment
block until the gap at the top is the same as the
gap at the bottom. (Please note that if it is still
uneven, you will need to remove your iPhone or
iPod touch. Then pull out the adjustment block,
rotate it 180
º and place it back in the Premium
Car Kit. This will increase the thickness of the
adjustment block.)

Mounting
Before mounting the Premium Car Kit you should remove your iPhone by lifting the front tab on the
retaining arm and rotating your iPhone slightly forward.
When mounting the Premium Car Kit in your vehicle please keep these important guidelines in mind...
Check local vehicle laws regarding mounting devices on windshields.
Make sure not to mount the Premium Car Kit where it could be dislodged should your airbag
deploy.
Likewise, make sure that the power cable would not be dislodged should the airbag deploy.
Clean the area where the Premium Car Kit will be placed. Dry the area thoroughly before continuing.
Press the Premium Car Kit base firmly against the windshield or dash surface.
Push the suction cup arm down, locking the Premium Car Kit to the surface.
Apply Power
Connect the USB end of the power cable to the Premium Car Kit. Connect the other end of the cable to
a vehicle power receptacle.
Final Adjustment
Reinstall your iPhone into the Premium Car Kit and adjust for proper viewing.
When making viewing adjustments, always hold the assembly by the Premium Car Kit and never by the
iPhone or iPod touch.
Make any final adjustments for proper viewing and tighten the retaining ring.
Bluetooth

Bluetooth Pairing (iPhone)
When the Premium Car Kit is first powered on, Bluetooth is automatically set to discovery mode and
ready to pair with a new device.
Connect the Magellan Premium Car Kit to power.
In the iPhone Settings Menu, make sure Bluetooth is turned on.
Once the Searching for Devices is complete, select the “Magellan Car Kit”.
If prompted, enter the code “1234”.
Magellan Premium Car Kit will connect with your iPhone.
Pairing is now complete.
Once paired, the Magellan Premium Car Kit will automatically connect with the iPhone when it is in
range.

Bluetooth Pairing (IPod touch and External Cell Phone)
The Magellan Premium Car Kit does NOT pair with the iPod touch Bluetooth. It pairs only with a
Bluetooth enabled cell phone.
Connect the Magellan Premium Car Kit to power.
In the Bluetooth menu for your cell phone begin searching for devices.
Once the Searching for Devices is complete, select the “Magellan Car Kit”.
If prompted, enter the code “1234”.
Magellan Premium Car Kit will connect with your iPhone.
Pairing is now complete.
Once paired, the Magellan Premium Car Kit will automatically connect with your cell phone when it is
in range.
Bluetooth Multifunction Button (located on the back of the cradle)
The following provides information on the many uses of the Bluetooth Multifunction Button. Pressing
the button will do different things, depending on your phone’s status.
Incoming Call
Press once to accept the call.
Press and hold for more then 1 second to reject the call.
During a Call
Press to toggle between the call being handled by the Magellan Premium Car Kit or by the phone.
Press and hold for more then 1 second to end the call.
No Call
Press two times to redial last number called.
Press and hold for more than 5 seconds to erase all phones from Bluetooth memory
Bluetooth Status Indicator
Flashing once every 3 seconds --- In Discovery mode and ready to pair. (Discovery mode is active
for the first 5 minutes that power is applied to the Premium Car Kit.)
Flashing once every 10 seconds --- Idle and unable to pair. (Note: if the status indicator shows
idle, the user must remove the power cable from the Premium Car Kit and then reapply power to
put it back in Discovery mode.)
Solid --- Paired and connected to a phone
Off --- No power to the Magellan Premium Car Kit.
