The AMG AMG2780R-DR-SF-HP is a rackmount repeater designed for single fiber dual redundant loop operation. It receives optical signals from both primary and secondary inputs and regenerates the signals on the respective outputs. If the primary or secondary signal is lost, the unit shuts down the corresponding output. The repeater supports 1550nm and 1310nm wavelengths and has optical overload protection of -3dBm. It requires a minimum of 5dB optical loss between itself and adjacent units to prevent overloading.

2700 Series Repeater for use on a
Dual Redundant single fibre ring
The AMG2780R-DR-SF-HP is a rackmount repeater designed to operate in a single fibre dual
redundant loop. It is designed to plug into a standard AMG2000 or AMG2005 rackmount system.
Functional Description
The AMG2780R-DR-SF-HP receives an optical
signal from both a primary and secondary optical
input.
In normal operation where connection of both the
previous unit and the subsequent unit are OK, the
optical signal on both the primary and secondary
routes is regenerated on the respective optical
outputs.
If the primary optical input signal is not present,
the unit shut down the primary output. If the
secondary optical input is not present the unit will
shut down the secondary optical output.

Mounting Details
The unit is designed to be mounted within a 2000 or 2005 Subrack on standard card guides. Note the
AMG standard racks are supplied with guide rails every 7HP. In order to fit this unit in the subrack, 1
set of card guides have to be removed by pulling gently on the card guides.
The 2000 series subrack is fitted with a 50 watt power supply.
The 2005 series subrack is fitted with a 100 watt power supply
Safety
The 2700 series of products uses a Class 1 laser system in accordance with EN 60825-2:2000.
It is always advisable to follow good practice when working with optical fibre systems. This includes:
Do not stare with unprotected eyes or with any unapproved collimating device at fibre ends or
connector faces, or point them at other people.
Use only approved filtered or attenuating viewing aids
For other safety issues and advice on good practice associated with the optical fibres systems see EN
60825-2:2000 or your local safety officer.
