1. Long Range System Description
The EnOcean Long Range (aka “ORCA”) is capable of measuring environ-
mental parameters and transmitting the results over long distances. The
term “Orca Platform” or short Orca refers to the platform approach to have
different devices working outdoors with long range capabilities.
Long Range Platform consists of the following three key components:
Sensors
EMOS 200LH Environmental Monitoring Outdoor Sensor
EMOT 200LH - Environmental Monitoring Outdoor Transceiver
The relation between the components of the Long Range system is illustrat-
ed in Figure 1 below.

1.1. Sensors
With EMOS 200LH EnOcean introduces the Generic Sensor Interface GIS.
With GIS an unlimited variety of sensors can be provided. Existing Sensors
on market can be equipped with the GIS interface and enable their connec-
tion to the EMOS unit.
For details please refer to the Generic Interface specification.
As an example, for EMOS 200LH these sensors are planned:
ESO-A 200, Temperature and Relative Humidity Sensor
ESO-I 200, Illumination Sensor
ESO-T 200, Soil Temperature Sensor
ESO-H 200, Soil Moisture Sensor
ESO-P 200, Ultrasonic Sensor
ESO-C 200, CO2 Sensor
ESO-N 200, Tilt Sensor
ESO-S 200, Temperature Sensor for casks.
ESO-R 200, Temperature Sensor for rice bags
ESO-O 200, Occupancy Sensor
And Accessories:
ESA-U 200
Details about the function of Sensors are described in their respective user
manuals or data sheets.

1.2. EMOT 200LH
The EMOT 200LH receives wireless radio telegrams from the EMOS 200LH,
temporarily stores their content locally and forwards them to a connected
host (e.g. PC).
Figure 2 below illustrates the EMOT 200LH.
Figure 2 EMOT 200LH
Details about the function of EMOT 200LH are described in this user manual.

2. EMOT 200LH Architecture
EMOT 200LH consists of the following key components:
MCU
RF Transceiver
Antenna Interface
Host Interface (with power supply)
Figure 3 below shows the key components of the EMOT 200LH.

2.1. Host Interface
The Host Interface of EMOT 200LH implements two key functions:
Power supply from external host or dedicated power supply
EMOT 200LH requires a permanent external power supply for opera-
tion
UART interface to external host
EMOT 200LH forwards received radio telegrams via UART according to
the ESP3 standard
Figure 4 below shows the location of Host Interface in the EMOT 200LH.
