When the ALERT activates:
1. The infusion continues
2. Three beeps are heard approximately every
three/four minutes
3. A screen message alternates with the
infusion running screen until the end of the
battery/infusion
The alert activates approximately 15-30
minutes prior to an alarm state
When the ALARM activates:
1. The infusion stops
2. The LED indicator light turns from green to
red
3. The alarm sounds continuously until
either the pump is paused or the problem
is rectified
4. An error message appears on the display
indicating the alarm cause
Technical problem/error and failure identification
Two examples of system failure screen messages are shown in the boxes
(right)
.
The pump alarms if an internal system fault has been detected and the unit will be inoperative.
• Power the pump off and then power on again, this may rectify the problem.
• If the problem cannot be rectified, power off the pump and remove from patient use.
Follow local policy and/or contact your authorised Medical Engineering Department
for advice if necessary. If possible, record the code number and a summary of the fault.

option selected
Pre-Loading and Automatic Actuator Movement
Pre-Loading and Automatic Actuator Movement commences
when the pump is powered up, the barrel clamp arm is down
and no syringe is in place. During Pre-Loading, simultaneous
screens display pump information and the actuator moves
automatically
These sequences clear a programme if still in the pump
memory
At the end of Pre-Loading the actuator returns to the start
position of the last infusion programmed
Press YES to Resume, NO for New Syringe?
The screen prompt “Press YES to Resume, NO for New
Syringe” will display if the programme is interrupted in some
way during start-up checks (if still available in the pump
memory); for example, if, following an alarm and during
start-up checks, the pump is powered off and powered on
with a syringe in place, or with no syringe in place and the
barrel clamp raised.
If this screen does not display during the start-up sequence,
there is no programme available in the pump memory.

20ml BD Plastipak
Select +/-, Press YES
Press YES to Resume,
NO for New Syringe
(If necessary use +/- keys to find the matching syringe)
WARNING: If you re-confirm an incorrect syringe brand/
size, your current programme will be deleted and the “YES to
Resume, NO for New Syringe” screen will not display.
If an incorrect syringe brand displays and the correct syringe
does not appear in the menu, lift the barrel clamp arm and
re-seat correctly so that the correct syringe displays.
If a syringe brand and size displays which differs from the
syringe inserted, scroll through the syringe options to find
the correct syringe. When the correct syringe displays,
confirm and the “YES to Resume, NO for New Syringe” screen
will display.
Pressing YES retains the current
programme (ml/h rate is
resumed)
To reduce or eliminate slack (visible spaces at the syringe
collar and plunger loading points) and ensure a faster
start-up time (time to reach the programmed infusion rate),
you can purge the system once only up to a configured
volume limit.
Follow local policy/procedure for the appropriate option to
press when the screen prompt “Press YES to Resume, NO for
New Syringe” displays following purge. If you press “YES to
Resume” the purge volume will display in the Volume Infused
history.
Pressing NO deletes the current programme, so a new
programme can be entered/confirmed.
The important feature to remember is that “Resume
protects the infusion rate for the current programme, so:
If you increase the syringe volume and resume the
programme/syringe, the duration of delivery will increase
(resets Volume Infused history to zero)
If you decrease the syringe volume and resume the
programme/syringe, the duration of delivery will decrease
(volume displays in Volume Infused history)
Purge option (if enabled)
When the syringe size/brand
displayed matches the one used,
confirm by pressing YES.
