Manual Installation Procedure
Before manually installing the operating system, create a set of Compaq Support Paq
(CSP) diskettes, and then create a logical boot drive on the new server.
Creating CSP Diskettes
The CSP diskettes contain the drivers that you need during manual installation of the
operating system. To create these diskettes:
1. Insert the latest SmartStart CD into the CD-ROM drive of a server that is using
either Windows 2000 or Windows NT as the operating system.
2. On the Compaq System Utilities screen, select Create Support Software.
3. On the Diskette Builder screen, select Create Support Software From CD
Only.
4. Scroll down the list and select the CSP software for the operating system and
array controller that the new server will use.
5. Follow the on-screen instructions to create the diskettes. Depending on the
operating system, you may need to use up to six blank diskettes.
Creating a Logical Boot Drive
This is done using the Option ROM Configuration for Arrays (ORCA) utility.
1. Power up the server that is to have the operating system installed.
2. Press the F8 key to start ORCA when instructed to do so by a prompt that is
briefly displayed at the bottom of the screen.
NOTE: If you do not press the F8 key during the interval that the prompt is displayed, you
must restart the logical boot drive creation procedure.
3. Select Create Logical Drive.
4. Select the hard drives that are to constitute the logical boot drive.
5. Save the configuration and exit ORCA.

b. Load the correct Intel network driver (NIC) from the
net\intelnic
directory on the appropriate CSP diskette.
9. Continue with the installation process as prompted. After the server has
automatically rebooted, finish the installation of the operating system by
installing the latest storage drivers (CPQCISSE.SYS) from the SmartStart CD.
