GENERAL POWER TOOL SAFETY WARNINGS
WARNING
Read all safety warnings and instructions. Failure to
follow the warnings and instructions may result in electric
shock, fire and/or serious injury.
Save all warnings and instructions for future reference.
The term “power tool” in the warnings refers to your mains-
operated (corded) power tool or battery-operated (cordless)
power tool.
WORK AREA SAFETY
Keep work area clean and well lit. Cluttered or dark
areas invite accidents.
Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres,
such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases
or dust. Power tools create sparks which may ignite the
dust or fumes.
Keep children and bystanders away while operating a
power tool. Distractions can cause you to lose control.
ELECTRICAL SAFETY
Power tool plugs must match the outlet. Never modify
the plug in any way. Do not use any adapter plugs with
earthed (grounded) power tools. Unmodified plugs and
matching outlets will reduce risk of electric shock.
Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded surfaces
such as pipes, radiators, ranges and refrigerators.
There is an increased risk of electric shock if your body is
earthed or grounded.
Do not expose power tools to rain or wet conditions.
Water entering a power tool will increase the risk of electric
shock.
Do not abuse the cord. Never use the cord for carrying,
pulling or unplugging the power tool. Keep cord away
from heat, oil, sharp edges or moving parts. Damaged
or entangled cords increase the risk of electric shock.
When operating a power tool outdoors, use an
extension cord suitable for outdoor use. Use of a cord
suitable for outdoor use reduces the risk of electric shock.
If operating a power tool in a damp location is
unavoidable, use a ground fault circuit interrupter
(GFCI) protected supply. Use of a GFCI reduces the risk
of electric shock.
PERSONAL SAFETY
Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use common
sense when operating a power tool. Do not use a power
tool while you are tired or under the influence of drugs,
alcohol or medication. A moment of inattention while
operating power tools may result in serious personal injury.
Use personal protective equipment. Always wear eye
protection. Protective equipment such as dust mask, non-
skid safety shoes, hard hat, or hearing protection used for
appropriate conditions will reduce personal injuries.
Prevent unintentional starting. Ensure the switch is in
the off-position before connecting to power source
and/or battery pack, picking up or carrying the tool.
Carrying power tools with your finger on the switch or
energising power tools that have the switch on invites
accidents.
Remove any adjusting key or wrench before turning
the power tool on. A wrench or a key left attached to
a rotating part of the power tool may result in personal
injury.
Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balance at
all times. This enables better control of the power tool in
unexpected situations.
Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or jewellery.
Keep your hair, clothing and gloves away from moving
parts. Loose clothes, jewellery or long hair can be caught
in moving parts.
If devices are provided for the connection of dust
extraction and collection facilities, ensure these are
connected and properly used. Use of dust collection
can reduce dust-related hazards.
Do not wear loose clothing or jewelry. Contain long
hair. Loose clothes, jewelry, or long hair can be drawn
into air vents.
Do not use on a ladder or unstable support. Stable
footing on a solid surface enables better control of the
power tool in unexpected situations.
POWER TOOL USE AND CARE
Do not force the power tool. Use the correct power
tool for your application. The correct power tool will
do the job better and safer at the rate for which it was
designed.
Do not use the power tool if the switch does not turn
it on and off. Any power tool that cannot be controlled
with the switch is dangerous and must be repaired.
Disconnect the plug from the power source and/or
the battery pack from the power tool before making
any adjustments, changing accessories, or storing
power tools. Such preventive safety measures reduce
the risk of starting the power tool accidentally.
Store idle power tools out of the reach of children and
do not allow persons unfamiliar with the power tool
or these instructions to operate the power tool. Power
tools are dangerous in the hands of untrained users.
Maintain power tools. Check for misalignment or
binding of moving parts, breakage of parts and any
other condition that may affect the power tool’s
operation. If damaged, have the power tool repaired
before use. Many accidents are caused by poorly
maintained power tools.
Keep cutting tools sharp and clean. Properly maintained
cutting tools with sharp cutting edges are less likely to
bind and are easier to control.
Use the power tool, accessories and tool bits etc.,
in accordance with these instructions, taking into
account the working conditions and the work to be
performed. Use of the power tool for operations different
from those intended could result in a hazardous situation.

SPECIFIC SAFETY RULES
Use non-slip, heavy-duty protective gloves when operating
the shrubber and when installing or removing blades.
Replace any blade or other parts that are cracked or
damaged. Always make sure blade is installed correctly
and securely fastened before each use. Failure to do so can
cause serious personal injury to the operator, bystanders,
or damage to the unit.
Never cut any material over 5/16 in. diameter.
Maintain a firm grip on handle while cutting with a blade.
Keep the blade away from body.
Know how to stop the unit quickly in an emergency.
Disable motor by moving latch on bottom cover to the un-
lock position before making any adjustments or changing
accessories. Remove blades and store them in a separate
location out of the reach of children before storing the
shrubber. Such preventive safety measures reduce the
risk of starting the product accidentally.
Service on the product must be performed by qualified
repair personnel only. Service or maintenance performed
by unqualified personnel could result in injury to the user
or damage to the product.
Always stop the motor by removing finger from switch
trigger, ensure the blades have stopped moving, and
disable motor when not in use by moving latch on bottom
cover to the unlock position; perform these steps before
attempting to clean any obstruction caught or jammed in
the blade, or before removing, installing, or making any
blade adjustments.
Never use shrubber if the switch will not turn the unit on
or off. A unit that cannot be controlled by the switch is
dangerous and must be repaired before use.
Shrubber is for cutting hedges and shrubbery only. Do
not use for any other purpose.
Maintain shrubber with care. Keep cutting edge sharp
and clean for best performance and to reduce the risk
of injury. Follow instructions for lubricating and changing
accessories. Keep handles dry, clean, and free from oil
and grease.
Battery tools do not have to be plugged into an electrical
outlet; therefore, they are always in operating condition.
Be aware of possible hazards when not using your battery
tool or when changing accessories. Following this rule will
reduce the risk of electric shock, fire, or serious personal
injury.
Do not place battery tools or their batteries near fire or
heat. This will reduce the risk of explosion and possibly
injury.
Do not crush, drop or damage battery pack. Do not
use a battery pack or charger that has been dropped or
received a sharp blow. A damaged battery is subject to
explosion. Properly dispose of a dropped or damaged
battery immediately.
Batteries can vent hydrogen gas and explode in the
presence of a source of ignition, such as a pilot light. To
reduce the risk of serious personal injury, never use any
cordless product in the presence of open flame or sparks.
An exploded battery can propel debris and chemicals. If
exposed, flush with water immediately.
For best results, your battery tool should be charged in a
location where the temperature is more than 50°F but less
than 100°F. To reduce the risk of serious personal injury,
do not store outside or in vehicles.
Save these instructions. Refer to them frequently and use
them to instruct others who may use this tool. If you loan
someone this tool, loan them these instructions also to
prevent misuse of the product and possible injury.
BATTERY TOOL USE AND CARE
Recharge only with the charger specified by the
manufacturer. A charger that is suitable for one type
of battery pack may create a risk of fire when used with
another battery pack.
Use power tools only with specifically designated
battery packs. Use of any other battery packs may create
a risk of injury and fire.
When battery pack is not in use, keep it away from
other metal objects, like paper clips, coins, keys, nails,
screws or other small metal objects, that can make a
connection from one terminal to another. Shorting the
battery terminals together may cause burns or a fire.
Under abusive conditions, liquid may be ejected from
the battery; avoid contact. If contact accidentally
occurs, flush with water. If liquid contacts eyes,
additionally seek medical help. Liquid ejected from the
battery may cause irritation or burns.
SERVICE
Have your power tool serviced by a qualified repair
person using only identical replacement parts. This
will ensure that the safety of the power tool is maintained.

in a risk of fire and electric shock. If extension cord must
be used, make sure:
a. That pins on plug of extension cord are the same number,
size and shape as those of plug on charger.
b. That extension cord is properly wired and in good
electrical condition; and
c. That wire size is large enough for AC ampere rating of

Do not operate charger with a damaged cord or plug,
which could cause shorting and electric shock. If damaged,
have the charger replaced by an authorized serviceman.
Do not operate charger if it has received a sharp blow,
been dropped, or otherwise damaged in any way.
Take it to an authorized serviceman for electrical check
to determine if the charger is in good working order.
Do not disassemble charger. Take it to an authorized
serviceman when service or repair is required. Incorrect
reassembly may result in a risk of electric shock or fire.
Unplug charger from outlet before attempting any
maintenance or cleaning to reduce the risk of electric
shock.
Disconnect charger from the power supply when not in
use. This will reduce the risk of electric shock or damage
to the charger if metal items should fall onto the connector.
It also will help prevent damage to the charger during a
power surge.
Disconnect charger from tool when the battery is fully
charged.
Risk of electric shock. Do not touch uninsulated portion
of output connector or uninsulated battery terminal.
For best results, your battery tool should be charged in
a location where the temperature is more than 50° but
less than 100°. To reduce the risk of serious personal
injury, do not store outside or use in vehicles.
Save these instructions. Refer to them frequently and
use them to instruct others who may use this tool. If you
loan someone this tool, loan them these instructions also

Before using battery charger, read all instructions and
cautionary markings in this manual, on battery charger,
battery, and product using battery to prevent misuse of
the products and possible injury or damage.
CAUTION:
To reduce the risk of electric shock or damage to
the charger and battery, charge only the UT44173 as
specifically designated on your charger. Other types of
batteries may burst, causing personal injury or damage.
Do not use charger outdoors or expose to wet or damp
conditions. Water entering charger will increase the risk
of electric shock.
Use of an attachment not recommended or sold by the
battery charger manufacturer may result in a risk of
fire, electric shock, or injury to persons. Following this
rule will reduce the risk of electric shock, fire, or serious
personal injury.
Do not abuse cord or charger. Never use the cord to
carry the charger. Do not pull the charger cord rather than
the plug when disconnecting from receptacle. Damage
to the cord or charger could occur and create an electric
shock hazard. Replace damaged cords immediately.
Make sure cord is located so that it will not be stepped
on, tripped over, come in contact with sharp edges or
moving parts or otherwise subjected to damage or
stress. This will reduce the risk of accidental falls, which
could cause injury, and damage to the cord, which could
result in electric shock.
Keep cord and charger from heat to prevent damage
to housing or internal parts.
Do not let gasoline, oils, petroleum-based products,
etc. come in contact with plastic parts. They contain
chemicals that can damage, weaken, or destroy plastic.
An extension cord should not be used unless absolutely
necessary. Use of improper extension cord could result

KNOW YOUR SHRUBBER
See Figure 1.
The safe use of this product requires an understanding of the
information on the product and in this operator’s manual as
well as a knowledge of the project you are attempting. Before
use of this product, familiarize yourself with all operating
features and safety rules.
BOTTOM COVER / LATCH
The bottom cover must be removed when installing, removing,
or changing the blades. The bottom cover latch has an unlock
and lock position; the unlock position disables the shrubber’s
motor and allows the bottom cover to be removed for blade
removal and installation. The bottom cover latch should
always be moved to the unlock (motor disabled) position when
removing cut or jammed material from the blades or when
performing any maintenance to prevent accidental starting.
NOTE: Placing the bottom cover latch in the unlock position
does not protect against unauthorized usage. Remove the
blades and store them in a separate location out of the reach
of children to avoid unauthorized use of the shrubber.
CHARGER
The shrubber comes with a convenient portable charger.
LOCK-OUT BUTTON
The lock-out button reduces the possibility of accidental
starting.
SCABBARD
The scabbard keeps the operator from coming in contact
with the sharp blade when the tool is not in use. It also helps
keep the blade from being nicked or damaged when the tool
is in storage.
SWITCH TRIGGER
The switch trigger activates the motor and blades when it is
depressed and the lock-out button is pushed.

WARNING:
This battery powered shrubber is always in an operating
condition and the blades can move if the switch trigger
and lock-out button are pushed. Be careful when remov-
ing the shrubber from the carton and during the assembly
process to prevent accidental starting, which could result
in serious personal injury.
UNPACKING
This product requires assembly.
Carefully cut the box down the sides then remove the
product and any accessories from the box. Make sure
that all items listed in the packing list are included.
WARNING:
Do not use this product if any parts on the Packing List
are already assembled to your product when you unpack
it. Parts on this list are not assembled to the product by
the manufacturer and require customer installation. Use
of a product that may have been improperly assembled
could result in serious personal injury.
Inspect the product carefully to make sure no breakage
or damage occurred during shipping.
Do not discard the packing material until you have carefully
inspected and satisfactorily operated the product.

WARNING:
This battery powered shrubber is always in an operating
condition and the blades can move if the switch trigger
and lock-out button are pushed. The bottom cover latch
should always be moved to the unlock (motor disabled)
position when removing cut or jammed material from
the blades, when changing blades or accessories, when
transporting the shrubber, and when the shrubber is not
in use. If the tool is left unattended, remove the blades
and store them in a separate location out of the reach of
children. Failure to follow these instructions could result in
accidental or unauthorized starting of the grass shrubber
and cause serious personal injury.
WARNING:
Do not allow familiarity with product to make you careless.
Remember that a careless fraction of a second is
sufficient to inflict serious injury.
WARNING:
Always wear eye protection with side shields marked to
comply with ANSI Z87.1. Failure to do so could result in
objects being thrown into your eyes, resulting in possible
serious injury.
OPERATION
WARNING:
Do not use any attachments or accessories not
recommended by the manufacturer of this product. The use of
attachments or accessories not recommended can result
in serious personal injury.
APPLICATIONS
You may use this product for the purpose listed below:
Trimming and shaping hedges and shrubbery
CHARGING THE SHRUBBER
See Figure 2.
The internal battery in this tool has been shipped in a low
charge condition to prevent possible problems. Therefore,
you should charge it overnight prior to use. After each use,
charge for at least 10 hours.
To charge:
Stop the motor.
Insert charger plug into input jack making sure they are
properly connected.
Charger can be used with normal household voltage
of 120 volts, AC only, 60 Hz.
Connect charger to power supply.
Do not place charger in an area of extreme heat or cold.
It will work best at normal room temperature.
ASSEMBLY
WARNING:
If any parts are damaged or missing, do not operate this
product until the parts are replaced. Use of this product
with damaged or missing parts could result in serious
personal injury.
WARNING:
Do not attempt to modify this product or create
accessories not recommended for use with this product.
Any such alteration or modification is misuse and could
result in a hazardous condition leading to possible serious
personal injury.
ASSEMBLING THE SHRUBBER
See Figure 5.
To unlock bottom cover.
Slide bottom cover latch to the right .
Pull the bottom cover down to remove.
To install blades:
Install blades into the hole on the bottom of the shear.
Place bottom cover slots onto tabs and slide close.
Slide bottom cover latch left to lock.

OPERATION
LOCK-OUT BUTTON
See Figure 3.
The lock-out button reduces the possibility of accidental
starting. It is located on the handle above the switch trigger
and must be depressed before you pull the switch trigger.
The lock-out button resets each time the trigger is released.
SWITCH TRIGGER
See Figure 3.
The switch trigger activates the motor and blades when it is
depressed and the lock-out button is pushed.
STARTING AND STOPPING
See Figure 3.
To start:
Press the lock-out button.

CUTTING TIPS
See Figure 4.
DANGER:
Never cut near electric cords or lines. If blade jams on
any electrical cord or line, DO NOT TOUCH THE BLADE!
IT CAN BECOME ELECTRICALLY LIVE AND VERY
DANGEROUS. Continue to hold the shrubber by the
handle or lay it down and away from you in a safe manner.
Disconnect the electrical service to the damaged line or
cord before attempting to free the blade from the line or
cord. Contact with the blade, other conductive parts of
the shrubber, or live electric cords or lines will result in
death by electrocution or serious injury.
WARNING:
Clear the area to be cut before each use. Remove all
objects such as cords, lights, wire, or loose string which
can become entangled in the cutting blade and create a
risk of serious personal injury.
Do not force the shrubber through heavy shrubbery. This
can cause the blades to bind and slow down. If the blades
slow down, reduce the pace.
Do not attempt to cut stems or twigs that are larger than
5/16 in. thick, or those obviously too large to feed into the
cutting blade. Use a non-powered hand saw or pruning
saw to trim large stems.
If desired, you can use a string to help cut your hedge
level. Decide how high you want the hedge. Stretch a
piece of string along the hedge at the desired height.
Trim the hedge just above the guide line of string. Trim
the side of a hedge so that it will be slightly narrower at
the top. More of the hedge will be exposed when shaped
this way, and it will be more uniform.
Wear gloves when trimming thorny or prickly growth.
When trimming new growth, use a wide sweeping action,
so that the stems are fed directly into the cutting blade.
Older growth will have thicker stems and will be trimmed
easiest by using a sawing movement.
OPERATING THE SHRUBBER
WARNING:
Read the safety information for safe operation using the
blade. Extreme care must be taken when using blades
to ensure safe operation. Refer to Important Safety
Instructions and Specific Safety Rules.
Use a firm grip on the handle. The unit is used for cutting
in either direction in a slow, sweeping action from side to
side.
Stand so that you are stable and balanced on both feet.
Inspect and clear the area of any hidden objects.
Never use the shrubber near power lines, fencing, posts,
buildings, or other immovable objects.
Never use a blade after hitting a hard object without first
inspecting it for damage. Do not use if any damage is
detected.

MAINTENANCE
WARNING:
Do not at any time let brake fluids, gasoline, petroleum-
based products, penetrating oils, etc., come in contact
with plastic parts. Chemicals can damage, weaken, or
destroy plastic which can result in serious personal injury.
Only the parts shown on the parts list are intended to be
repaired or replaced by the customer. All other parts should
be replaced at an Authorized Service Center.
WARNING:
Blades are sharp. When handling the blade assembly,
wear non-slip, heavy-duty protective gloves. Do not place
your hand or fingers between blades or in any position
where they could get pinched or cut. NEVER touch blades
or service unit while running.
REMOVING/CHANGING BLADES
See Figure 5.
To unlock bottom cover and remove blade:
Slide bottom cover latch to the right .
Pull the bottom cover down to remove.
Remove the blades.
To install/replace blades:
Install blades into the hole on the bottom of the shrubber.
Place bottom cover slots onto tabs and slide close.
Slide bottom cover latch tleft to lock cover.
LUBRICATING THE BLADES
See Figure 6.
For easier operation and longer blade life, lubricate shrubber
blades before and after each use. If you will be using the
shrubber for an extended period, it is advisable to oil the
blades during use.
Stop the motor and allow blades to stop moving.
Slide bottom cover latch to the right to unlock cover
and disable motor.
Lay the shrubber on a flat surface. Apply light weight
machine oil along the edge of the top blade.
NOTE: Do not oil while the shrubber is running.
Slide bottom cover latch left to lock.
WARNING:
This battery powered shrubber is always in an operating
condition and the blades can move if the switch trigger
and lock-out button are pushed. The bottom cover latch
should always be moved to the unlock (motor disabled)
position when removing cut or jammed material from
the blades, when changing blades or accessories, when
transporting the shurbber, and when the shrubber is not
in use. If the tool is left unattended, remove the blades
and store them in a separate location out of the reach of
children. Failure to follow these instructions could result
in accidental or unauthorized starting of the grass shear
and cause serious personal injury.
WARNING:
This battery powered shrubber is always in an operating
condition and the blades can move if the switch trigger
and lock-out button are pushed. Be careful when
removing the shrubber from the carton and during the
assembly process to prevent accidental starting, which
could result in serious personal injury.
WARNING:
When servicing, use only identical replacement parts. Use
of any other parts can create a hazard or cause product
damage.
WARNING:
Always wear eye protection with side shields marked to
comply with ANSI Z87.1. Failure to do so could result in
objects being thrown into your eyes, resulting in possible
serious injury.
GENERAL MAINTENANCE
Avoid using solvents when cleaning plastic parts. Most
plastics are susceptible to damage from various types of
commercial solvents and may be damaged by their use. Use
clean cloths to remove dirt, dust, oil, grease, etc.

BATTERY PACK REMOVAL AND PREPARATION
FOR RECYCLING
See Figure 7.
Stop the motor.
Remove the screws securing motor housing cover, then
remove cover.
Lift batteries from motor housing enough to expose leads
and battery terminals.
Using wire cutters with rubber coated or insulated handles,
clip the battery leads and remove the battery for disposal.
To preserve natural resources, please recycle or dispose of
batteries properly.
This product contains nickel-cadmium
batteries. Local, state or federal laws may
prohibit disposal of batteries in ordinary
trash.
Consult your local waste authority for
information regarding available recycling
and/or disposal options.
WARNING:
Upon removal, cover the battery pack’s terminals with
heavy-duty adhesive tape. Do not attempt to destroy
or disassemble battery pack or remove any of its
components. Nickel-cadmium batteries must be recycled
or disposed of properly. Also, never touch both terminals
with metal objects and/or body parts as short circuit may
result. Keep away from children. Failure to comply with
these warnings could result in fire and/or serious injury.
STORING THE SHRUBBER
See Figure 8.
Clean all foreign material from the shrubber. Store indoors
in a dry, locked up place—out of the reach of children.
Keep away from corrosive agents such as garden chemi-
cals and de-icing salts.
Always place the scabbard on the cutting blades before
transporting or storing the unit.
Store the product where the temperature is below 80°F.
Store the product in a “discharged” condition.
Remove the blades and store them in a separate location
out of the reach of children to avoid unauthorized use of
the shrubber.
CLEANING THE SHRUBBER
Stop the motor and allow blades to stop moving.
Slide bottom cover latch to the right to unlock cover
and disable motor.
Slide the scabbard over the blades.
Clean dirt and debris from the body of the shrubber, using
a damp cloth with a mild detergent.
NOTE: Do not use any strong detergents on the plastic
housing or the handle. They can be damaged by certain
aromatic oils such as pine and lemon, and by solvents
such as kerosene.
Slide bottom cover latch left to lock and reconnect
motor.
BATTERIES
This product is equipped with a nickel-cadmium rechargeable
battery. Length of service from each charging will depend on
the type of work you are doing.
The battery in this product has been designed to provide
maximum trouble-free life. However, like all batteries, it will
eventually wear out.
To obtain the longest possible battery life, we suggest
removing the product from the charger once it is fully charged
and ready for use.
NOTE: Batteries are not intended to be replaced.

WARRANTY
LIMITED WARRANTY STATEMENT
Homelite Consumer Products, Inc., (“Homelite”) warrants
to the original retail purchaser that this HOMELITE brand
outdoor product is free from defect in material and
workmanship and agrees to repair or replace, at Homelite’s,
discretion, any defective product free of charge within these
time periods from the date of purchase.
Two years for all models if used for personal, family, or
household use;
90 days for any unit used for other purposes, such as
rental or commercial.
This warranty extends to the original retail purchaser
only and commences on the date of the original retail
purchase.
Any part of the this product manufactured or supplied
by Homelite and found in the reasonable judgment of
Homelite to be defective in material or workmanship will
be repaired or replaced without charge for parts and labor
by a Homelite authorized service center.
The product, including any defective part, must be returned
to an authorized service dealer within the warranty period.
The expense of delivering the product to the dealer for
warranty work and the expense of returning it back to the
owner after repair or replacement will be paid by the owner.
Homelite’s responsibility in respect to claims is limited to
making the required repairs or replacements and no claim
of breach of warranty shall be cause for cancellation or
rescission of the contract of sale of any HOMELITE brand
product. Proof of purchase will be required by the dealer
to substantiate any warranty claim. All warranty work must
be performed by a Homelite authorized service center.
This warranty is limited to ninety (90) days from the date of
original retail purchase for any HOMELITE brand product
that is used for rental or commercial purposes, or any other
income-producing purpose.
This warranty does not cover any HOMELITE brand product
that has been subject to misuse, neglect, negligence, or
accident, or that has been operated in any way contrary
to the operating instructions as specified in this operator’s
manual. This warranty does not apply to any damage to
the product that is the result of improper maintenance or
to any product that has been altered or modified. The
warranty does not extend to repairs made necessary
by normal wear or by the use of parts or accessories
which are either incompatible with the HOMELITE
brand product or adversely affect its operation,
performance, or durability. In addition, this warranty does
not cover:

et les gants à l’écart des pièces en mouvement. Les
vêtements amples, bijoux et cheveux longs peuvent se
prendre dans les pièces en mouvement.
Si les outils sont équipés de dispositifs de dépoussiérage,
s’assurer qu’ils sont connectés et correctement utilisés.
L’usage de ces dispositifs de dépoussiérage peut réduire
les dangers présentés par la poussière.
Ne porter ni vêtements amples, ni bijoux. Attacher
ou couvrir les cheveux longs. Les vêtements amples,
bijoux et cheveux longs peuvent se prendre dans les ouïes
d’aération.
Ne pas utiliser l’outil sur une échelle ou un support
instable. Une bonne tenue et un bon équilibre permettent

UTILISATION ET ENTRETIEN DES OUTILS

l’application. Un outil approprié exécutera le travail mieux
et de façon moins dangereuse s’il est utilisé dans les limites

Ne pas utiliser l’outil si le commutateur ne permet pas
de le mettre en marche ou de l’arrêter. Tout outil qui ne
peut pas être contrôlé par son commutateur est dangereux
et doit être réparé.
Débrancher l’outil et/ou retirer le bloc-piles avant
d’effectuer des réglages, de changer d’accessoire ou
de remiser l’outil. Ces mesures de sécurité préventives
réduisent les risques de démarrage accidentel de l’outil.
Ranger les outils motorisés hors de la portée des
enfants et ne laisser personne n’étant pas familiarisé
avec l’outil ou ces instructions utiliser l’outil. Dans les
mains de personnes n’ayant pas reçu des instructions
adéquates, les outils sont dangereux.
Entretenir les outils motorisés. Vérifier qu’aucune pièce
mobile n’est mal alignée ou bloquée, qu’aucune pièce
n’est brisée et s’assurer qu’aucun autre problème ne

Porter des gants épais lors de l’utilisation du ciseaux, ainsi
que lors de le nettoyage, l’installation et du retrait des lames.
Remplace toute lame ou autre pièce craquée ou endommagée.
S’assurer que la lame est correctement installée et solidement
assujettie avant chaque utilisation. Le non respect de cette
directive peut occasionner des blessures graves à l’opérateur
ou aux personnes à proximité, ou endommager l’unité.
Ne jamais couper de tiges de plus de 7,94 mm (5/16 po) de
diamètre.
Tenir fermement le poignée pendant les travaux de coupe
avec une lame. Garder la lame loin du corps.
Sachez comment arrêter l’outil rapidement en cas d’urgence.
Désactiver le moteur en mettant le verrou sur le panneau
inférieur en position déverrouillée avant de faire un ajuste-
ment ou de changer des accessoires. Retirer les lames et
les entreposer dans un endroit séparé hors de portée des
enfants avant de ranger les ciseaux. De telles mesures
préventives protègent contre les risques de démarrer le

La réparation du produit doit être confiée à un réparateur

nettoyer un objet qui obstrue la lame, ou avant de retirer et

Les ciseaux à arbustes sont conçues pour tailler seulement
l’haies et arbustes. Ne pas utiliser l’outil à toute autre fin.
Bien entretenir les ciseaux à arbustes. Les rebords doivent être
toujours bien affûtés et propres afin d’assurer un rendement
optimal et de réduire les risques de blessures. Suivre les
instructions fournies pour lubrifier l’outil et changer les
accessoires. Garder les poignées sèches, propres et libres
de dépôt d’huile ou de graisse.
Les outils sans fil n’ont pas à être branchés dans une prise
électrique. Ils sont toujours fonctionnels. Être conscient
des risques possibles lorsque l’outil n’est pas utilisé et au
moment de changer d’accessoires. En observant cette règle
de sécurité, le risque de décharge électrique, d’incendie et/
ou de blessures graves est ré duit.
Ne pas déposer les outils sans fil ou leurs piles près d’un
feu ou d’une source de chaleur. Cette précaution permet de
réduire le risque d’explosion et de blessures graves.
Ne pas écraser, laisser tomber ou endommager la pile. Ne
pas utiliser une pile ou un chargeur qui est tombé ou qui a
reçu un mauvais coup. Une pile endommagée présente un
risque d’explosion. Se débarraser immédiatement d’une pile
endommagée en prenant les mesures nécessaires.
Les piles peuvent émettre de l’hydrogène et exploser en
présence d’une source d’inflammation comme une flamme
pilote. Afin de réduire les risques de lésions corporelles
graves, ne jamais utiliser de produits sans fil en présence
d’une flamme ouverte ou d’étincelles. Une pile qui explose
peut projeter des débris et des éléments chimiques. En cas
d’exposition, rincer à l’eau immédiatement..
Pour obtenir de meilleurs résultats, il importe de charger l’outil
dans un endroit où la température est de plus de10 °C (50
°F) mais de moins de 37 °C (100 °F). Pour réduire les risques
de blessures graves, ne pas entreposer l’outil à l’extérieur
ou dans un véhicule.
Conserver ces instructions. Les consulter fréquemment et les
utiliser pour instruire les autres utilisateurs éventuels. Si cet
outil est prêté, il doit être accompagné de ces instructions,
afin d’éviter un usage incorrect et d’éventuelles blessures.

Un chargeur approprié pour un type de pile peut créer un
risque d’incendie s’il est utilisé avec un autre type de pile.
Utiliser exclusivement le bloc-pile spécifiquement
indiqué pour l’outil. L’usage de tout autre bloc peut créer
un risque de blessures et d’incendie.
Lorsque le bloc-piles n’est pas en usage, le garder à
l’écart d’articles tels qu’attaches trombones, pièces de
monnaie, clous, vis ou autres petits objets métalliques
risquant d’établir le contact entre les deux bornes. La
mise en court-circuit des bornes de piles peut causer des
étincelles, des brûlures ou un incendie.
En cas d’usage abusif, du liquide peut s’échapper des
piles. Éviter tout contact avec ce liquide. En cas de
contact accidentel, rincer immédiatement les parties
atteintes avec de l’eau. En cas d’éclaboussure dans
les yeux consulter un médecin. Le liquide s’échappant
des piles peut causer des irritations ou des brûlures.
DÉPANNAGE
Les réparations doivent être confiées à un technicien
qualifié, utilisant exclusivement des pièces identiques
à celles d’origine. Ceci assurera le maintien de la sécurité
de l’outil.

AVERTISSEMENT !
LIRE ATTENTIVEMENT TOUTES LES INSTRUCTIONS. Le
non-respect de toutes les instructions ci-dessous peut entraîner
un choc électrique, un incendie et/ou des blessures graves.
Avant d’utiliser le chargeur de piles, lire toutes les instructions
de sécurité et mises en garde figurant dans ce manuel, sur le
chargeur et sur le produit utilisant le chargeur pour éviter un
usage incorrect et des dommages ou blessures.
Ne pas utiliser le chargeur à l’extérieur, ni l’exposer à l’eau
ou l’humidité. La pénétration d’eau dans le chargeur accroît
le risque de choc électrique.
L’usage d’un accessoire non recommandé ou vendu par
le fabricant du chargeur peut causer un risque d’incendie,
de choc électrique ou de blessures. Le respect de cette
consigne réduira les risques d’incendie, de choc électrique et
de blessures graves.
Ne pas maltraiter le cordon d’alimentation ou le chargeur.
Ne jamais utiliser le cordon d’alimentation pour transporter le
chargeur. Ne pas débrancher le chargeur en tirant sur le cordon.
Tirer sur la prise pour la débrancher. Un cordon ou un chargeur
endommagé peut présenter un risque de choc électrique.
Remplacer immédiatement tout cordon endommagé.
S’assurer que le cordon n’est pas acheminé à un endroit
où il risque d’être piétiné, accroché, endommagé, mis en
contact avec des objets tranchants ou autrement maltraité.
Ceci réduira le risque de chute pouvant entraîner des blessures
et l’endommagement du cordon, susceptible de causer un choc
électrique.
Garder le cordon et le chargeur à l’écart des sources de
chaleur pour éviter des dommages au boîtier ou aux pièces
internes.
Ne jamais laisser de liquides tels que le fluide de freins,
l’essence, les produits à base de pétrole, les huiles
pénétrantes, etc., entrer en contact avec les pièces en
plastique. Ces liquides contiennent des produits chimiques
susceptibles d’endommager, d’affaiblir ou de détruire le
plastique.

Ce manuel contient d’importantes instructions relatives à la sécurité et au fonctionnement des chargeur de piles

2. Avant d’utiliser le chargeur de piles, lire toutes les instructions et les mises en garde figurant sur le chargeur de
pile, sur la pile et sur le produit utilisant la pile.
3. ATTENTION ! Pour réduire les risques de blessure, ne charger que UT44171. Les piles d’autres types peuvent
exploser et causer des dommages et blessures.

N’utiliser un cordon prolongateur qu’en cas d’absolue
nécessité. L’usage d’un cordon prolongateur incorrect peut
présenter des risques d’incendie et de choc électrique. Si un
cordon prolongateur doit être utilisé, s’assurer :
a. Que la fiche du cordon comporte le même nombre de broches
que celles du chargeur et que ses broches sont de mêmes
forme et taille.
b. Que le cordon est correctement câblé et en bon état électrique
; et
c. Que le calibre des fils est suffisant pour l’intensité c.a. du
chargeur spécifiée ci-dessous :

NOTE : AWG = American Wire Gage (calibre de fils américain)
Ne pas utiliser un chargeur dont la prise ou le cordon est
endommagé, ce qui pourrait entraîner un court-circuit et un
choc électrique. Le cas échéant, faire remplacer la prise ou le
cordon immédiatement par un réparateur agréé.
Ne pas utiliser le chargeur s’il a été soumis à un choc violent
ou autrement endommagé. Le confier à un réparateur agréé
afin qu’il détermine s’il est en bon état de fonctionnement.
Ne pas démonter le chargeur. Si un entretien ou une réparation
est nécessaire, le confier à un réparateur agréé. Un remontage
incorrect peut entraîner des risques de choc électrique ou
d’incendie.
Pour réduire les risques de choc électrique, débrancher
le chargeur de la prise secteur avant de procéder à tout
nettoyage ou entretien.
Débrancher le chargeur de la source de courant lorsqu’il
n’est pas utilisé. Cette précaution permet de réduire le risque
de décharge électrique et d’éviter d’endommager le chargeur si
des éléments en métal tombent sur le connecteur. Elle permet
également d’éviter d’endommager le chargeur en cas de saute
de puissance.
Débrancher le chargeur de l’outil une fois que la pile est
complètement chargée.
Risque de choc électrique. Ne pas toucher les parties non
isolées du connecteur de sortie ou les bornes de piles non
isolés.
Pour obtenir de meilleurs résultats, il importe de charger
l’outil dans un endroit où la température est de plus de 10
°C (50 °F) mais de moins de 37 °C (100 °F). Pour réduire les
risques de blessures graves, ne pas entreposer l’outil à
l’extérieur ou l’utiliser dans un véhicule.
Conserver ces instructions. Les consulter fréquemment et
les utiliser pour instruire les autres utilisateurs éventuels. Si cet
outil est prêté, il doit être accompagné de ces instructions, afin
d’éviter un usage incorrect et d’éventuelles blessures.

Ne laisser personne s’approcher
Ne jamais laisser quiconque se tenir à moins de 15 m
(50 pi) de l’outil.
Gants Porter des gants antidérapants épais lors de la manipulation des lames.
Surface brûlante
Pour éviter les risques de blessures ou de dommages, éviter tout
contact avec les surfaces bûlantes.
Symbole de recyclage
Ce produit utilise les piles de nickel-cadmium (Ni-Cd). Les
réglementations locales ou gouvernementales peuvent interdire de
jeter les piles dans les ordures ménagères. Consulter les autorités
locales compétentes pour les options de recyclage et/ou l’élimination.

APPRENDRE À CONNAÎTRE LE CISEAUX À
ARBUSTES
Voir la figure 1.
L’utilisation sûre de ce produit exige une comprehension des
renseignements figurant sur le produit et contenus dans le
manuel d’utilisation, ainsi qu’une bonne connaissance du projet
entrepris. Avant d’utiliser ce produit, se familiariser avec toutes
ses caractéristiques et règles de sécurité.
PANNEAU INFÉRIEUR OU VERROU
Il faut enlever le panneau inférieur lorsqu’on veut installer, retirer
ou changer les lames. Le verrou du panneau inférieur peut
être placé en position déverrouillée et verrouillée; la position
déverrouillée désactive le moteur des ciseaux et permet d’enlever
le panneau inférieur pour retirer les lames ou les installer. Le
verrou du panneau inférieur devrait toujours être en position
déverrouillée (moteur désactivé) lorsqu’on veut retirer du matériel
coupé ou coincée sur la lame, ou lors de l’entretien afin d’éviter
un démarrage accidentel.
NOTE : Mettre le verrou du panneau inférieur en position
déverrouillée ne prévient pas l’utilisation non autorisée. Retirer
les lames et les entreposer dans un endroit séparé hors de la
portée des enfants pour éviter l’utilisation non autorisée des
ciseaux.
CHARGEUR
Les ciseaux à arbustes sont vendues avec un chargeur portatif
pratique.
BOUTON DE VERROUILLAGE
Cette scie est équipée d’un bouton de verrouillage pour réduire
le risque de démarrage accidentel.
FOURREAU
La fourreau empêche que l’opérateur entre en contact avec
la lame tranchantes lorsque l’outil n’est pas en usage. Il évite
également que la lame est ébréchées ou endommagées
pendant le remisage.
GÂCHETTE
Le moteur et les lames sont activés lorsque l’utilisateur appuie
sur la gâchette et sur le bouton de verrouillage.

CARACTÉRISTIQUES
AVERTISSEMENT :
Ces ciseaux à pile sont toujours en état de fonctionnement
et les lames peuvent bouger si on appuie sur la gâchette de
l’interrupteur et sur le bouton de verrouillage. Faire preuve
de prudence en sortant les ciseaux de leur boite et lors de
l’assemblage, afin de prévenir un démarrage accidentel, qui
pourrait causer des lésions corporelles graves.
DÉBALLAGE
Ce produit doit être assemblé.
Avec précaution, sortir l’outil et les accessoires de la
boîte. S’assurer que toutes les pièces figurant sur la liste
de contrôle sont incluses.
AVERTISSEMENT :
Ne pas utiliser le produit si, en le déballant, vous
constatez que des éléments figurant dans la liste de
contrôle d’expédition sont déjà assemblés. Certaines
pièces figurant sur cette liste n’ont pas été assemblées
par le fabricant et exigent une installation. Le fait d’utiliser
un produit qui a été assemblé de façon inadéquate peut
entraîner des blessures.
Examiner soigneusement le produit pour s’assurer que
rien n’a été brisé ou endommagé en cours de transport.
Ne pas jeter les matériaux d’emballage avant d’avoir
soigneusement examiné le produit et avoir vérifié qu’il
fonctionne correctement.
