Heated Basin LED States
The LED indicators located below each heated basin are
intended to give an indication of the current operational
status of the heating device associated with an individual
basin. For all VP 2000 systems the following LED states may be
observed:
Table 5.1:
Status LED States: All VP 2000 Models
LED State Description
Off The basin heater is off.
Steady ON
The basin heater is in the ON-OFF cycle,
which allows the basin to be maintained
within the temperature band around the
set-point temperature (set-point ±3°C). If the
initial basin temperature is above the
programmed set-point temperature, the LED
will still be Steady ON even though the basin
heater is actually paused, waiting for the
basin to cool down to the programmed
temperature range.

30-602111/R1—June 2010
On VP 2000 slide processors or heating modules with serial
numbers 32000 or greater, the following additional LED states
may be observed, representing two fault conditions of the
heating module:
Table 5.2:
Status LED Fault Conditions for Select Models
(Serial number 32000 and higher)
Flashing
The LED will have a steady flash rate
(approximately 1 second ON and 1 second
OFF) when the basin is being heated up to its
programmed set-point temperature. When
the basin temperature reaches 2°C below the
set-point temperature, the LED will change to
Steady ON, indicating that the control system
is now maintaining temperature within the
programmed temperature range.
LED State Description
Rapid
flashing
If a basin heater is stuck on when it should be
turned off, the LED will have a rapid flash rate
(approximately ¾ of a second ON and a ¼
second OFF). If this occurs, the VP 2000
processor should be immediately powered
down and a Field Service Representative
contacted for assistance.
Slow
flashing
If a fault with the basin temperature sensor is
detected, the LED will have a slow flash rate
(approximately 2 seconds ON and 4 seconds
OFF). If this occurs, the basin heater will be
turned off automatically. If slow flashing is
observed, the VP2000 processor should be
powered down and a Field Service
Representative should be contacted for
assistance.
