Speed controller's Conguration
Thespeedcontrollerfeaturestwojumpers;throughthese
canbeconguredboththedrivingfunctionandthere-
chargeablebatterytype.
Jumper "MODE":
• "Crawler":Operatingmodeforcrawler;togglebetweenforwardandreverse.Ifthethrottleleveronthe
transmitterismovedfromforwardorreversetothecentre/neutralposition,thespeedcontrollerwillacti-
vatethemotorbrake.100%drivepowerisavailableforbothtraveldirections,forwardandreverse.
• "Boat":Operatingmodeforboatmodels;togglebetweenforwardandreverse.Ifthethrottleleveronthe
transmitterismovedfromforwardorreversetothecentre/neutralposition,thereisnothemotorbrake.
Only25%drivepowerisavailableforreversetravel.
"BATT" jumper:
Setherewhichrechargeabledrivebatteryisconnectedtothespeedcontroller.
• "Lipo"=2or3cellLiPorechargeabledrivebattery
• "NiMH"=5-9cellNiMH/NiCdrechargeabledrivebattery
Important!
IfyouareusingaLiPorechargeabledrivebatteryandsettingtherechargeablebatterytypeto
"NiMH",thentheretakesplaceadeepdischargeofthebattery,whichdestroysit.
Therefore,beforeyouconnectarechargeabledrivebatterytothespeedcontroller,alwaysmake
suretosetthecorrectrechargeablebatterytype.
IfyouarestillusingoldNiCddrivebatteries,setthejumper"BATT"on"NiMH".
Getting Started with the Speed Controller
Attention, be careful!
Placethemodelvehiclesothedrivewheels(incaseofboats,the propellers)do notmake
contactwiththegroundorotherobjects.Donottouchthedrivemechanism,donotblockit!Risk
ofinjury!
Ifthe trimming was adjusted on the transmitter,after switching onthespeedcontrollercan
directlydeterminethestartingofthemotor!
• Firstly,turnoffthespeedcontroller’son/offswitch(switchposition"OFF").Thencheckthesettingofjump-
ers,andcorrectitifnecessary.
• Turnonthetransmitterandcheckafterwardsthetransmitter’sbatterystatus.
• Inserttherechargeabledrivebatteryintothevehicleandconnectittothespeedcontrol.
Attention!
Youshouldpayattentiontothecorrectpolarityofthespeedcontroller'sconnectioncable:Red=
Plus(+)andBlack=Minus(-).Ifincorrectlyconnected,thespeedcontrollerandtherecharge-
abledrivebatterycanbedestroyed!Dangerofexplosion/burns!
• Movethetrimmingforsteeringanddrivingtothecentralpositionandcheckiftheoperatingleverforthe
drivefunctionisintheneutral/centralposition.
• Now,turnonthespeedcontroller(switchposition"ON").
• Thespeedcontrollernowstoresthepositionoftheneutralposition(donotmovethethrottleleveronthe
transmitterwhilestillinthecentral/neutralposition!).Themotorgeneratesdifferenttypesofbeeps(these
willbeproducedbytheactuationofthemotorbythespeedcontroller).Thespeedcontrollerisnowready
foruse.

Ifthespeedcontrollerdoesnotrecognisethetransmitter'sneutralposition,thennofunctionis
possible!Thiscanhappenwhenthetrimmingisadjustedonthetransmitterorwhenthedriving/
brakingfunction'soperatingleverisnotinthecentre/neutralposition.
Speed Controller Function Test
Themodel’smotor/drivemustnotrotatewhilethedriving/brakingfunction’soperatingleveronthetransmitter
isinthecentreposition(neutralposition).
Ifyoumovethedrivecontrollevertowardsforwardtravel(pulltothehandle),thevehicle(car/boatmodel)
shouldmoveforward.
Thenmovethecontrolleverfromtheforwarddrivepositiontothecentrepositionandwaitabit.Themotor
shouldstopnow.
Toreversethevehicle,movethedrivecontrollevertowardreversetravel(pushitawayfromthehandle).The
vehicle(car/boatmodel)shouldnowmovebackwards.
Ifthevehiclemovescontrarytothefunctiondescribedabove,switchoffthespeedcontroller
andswapthetwomotorcablesoractivatethereversesettingforthedrivingfunctiononthe
transmitter.
TheredLEDofthespeedcontrollerisoffintheneutralposition;theLEDasheswhendrivingforwards/
backwards.
In"Crawler"operatingmode,theLEDissteadylitif"fullthrottleforward/reverse"isselected.In"Boat"mode,
theLEDissteadylitonlyif"Fullthrottleforward"isselected.
Ending the Operation
• Bringthethrottle/brakelevertotheneutralpositionandletthevehiclerollout(ifnecessary,correctaccord-
inglythetransmitter'strimmingcontrol,sothatthemotorstops).
• Switchoffthecontrolunit.
• Alwaysdisconnecttherechargeabledrivebatteryfromthespeedcontroller.
• Onlynowdoyouturnoffthetransmitter.
Excess temperature protection
Whenthespeedcontrolleristoohot(>100°C),themotorwillturnoff.Insuchacase,theLEDwillsignalthis
withashing.Ifthespeedcontrollerscoolsunderabout+80°C,itisagainreadytobeused.
Fail-Safe Function
Thespeedcontrollerswitchesoffthemotorforsafetyreasons,iftherecomesnovalidsignalfromthere-
ceiver.Inthiscase,theredLEDwillashfast.Ifyourtransmitter/receiverfeaturesitsownfail-safefunction,
makesureyouareprogrammingitcorrectly!Checkthisfunctiontomakesureitwillworkcorrectlyinthe
eventofanerror.
Undervoltage Detection
Belowaspecicvoltageoftherechargeablebattery,themotorpowerisreduced,respectivelythemotoris
turnedoff.Thisprotectstherechargeabledrivebatteryagainstaharmfuldeepdischarge.
Jumper in the "NiMH" position (rechargeable drive battery with 5 - 9 cell)
Thespeedcontrollerreducestheoutputpowerto50%ifitismeasuredarechargeablebatteryvoltageof
4.5V.Belowarechargeablebatteryvoltageof4.0V,themotoristurnedoff.
Jumper in the "Lipo" position (rechargeable drive battery with 2 cell)
Thespeedcontrollerreducestheoutputpowerto50%ifitismeasuredarechargeablebatteryvoltageof
6.5V.Belowarechargeablebatteryvoltageof6.0V,themotoristurnedoff.
Jumper in the "Lipo" position (rechargeable drive battery with 3 cell)
Thespeedcontrollerreducestheoutputpowerto50%ifitismeasuredarechargeablebatteryvoltageof
9.75V.Belowarechargeablebatteryvoltageof9.0V,themotoristurnedoff.
Important!
Iftheundervoltagedetectionhasdetectedanemptybattery(motorpowerhasbeenreduced
orthemotorhasbeenswitchedoff),thespeedcontrollerwillresetthesafetyfeaturewhenyou
movethethrottlelevertothecentre/neutralposition.Thedrivecanthenbereactivated(untilthe
safetyfeatureistriggeredagain).
This"reactivationfunction"ismeanttohelpyoutostilldrivetheshipmodelashore,forexample,
ifthebatteryisat.
Connection to the receiver
Connectthe three-poleplug ofthespeedcontrollerto thecorresponding channelofthe receiver.Make
absolutelysureyouhavethecorrectreceiverconguration(seeoperationinstructionsforthereceiveras
wellastheinscriptiononthereceiver).
Yellow/white/orangeconnectingline:Controlsignal
Redcable:Operatingvoltage/+
Brown/blackcable:GND/Minus/-
ThespeedcontrollerfeaturesaBEC.Thismeansthatthebatterysuppliesthereceiverdirectly
withpowerviathespeedcontroller.IftheBECisusedasthepowersupplyofthereceiverunit,
donotuseareceiverbattery!
Important!
IfaseparatereceiverpowersupplyisusedinsteadoftheintegratedBEC,theredwireinthe
middleof the speedcontroller'sthree-pin receiver plug hastobe interrupted and insulated.
Failuretocomplywiththisindicationwilldestroythespeedcontroller!Thewarrantywillbevoid!
Ending the Operation
Firstswitchoffthecontrolunit(bringswitchintothe"OFF"position).Disconnecttherechargeablebattery
packfromthespeedcontrol/receiver,loosentheplugconnectionaltogether.Onlynowdoyouturnoffthe
transmitter.
Disposal
Electronicdevicesarerecyclablematerialsanddonotbelonginthehouseholdwaste.Dispose
ofanunserviceableproductinaccordancewiththerelevantstatutoryregulations.
