Overview
The NSQM2AC1400 AC-input DC-output power module has the
following features:
It has a protection mechanism against input undervoltage,
output overvoltage, output short circuit, output overcurrent, and
overtemperature.
It is hot swappable. You can install and remove the power
module on an operating device when the power switch on the
power module is turned off.
It can operate in 1+1 redundancy and supports load balancing.

CAUTION:
The power module restores operation automatically when
the power output alarm, such as short circuit, overcurrent, o
r
overtemperature, is cleared. The power module does not
restore operation automatically when the output overvoltage
alarm is cleared. To restore operation of the power module,
perform the following steps:
a. Turn off the power switch and remove the power cord.
b. Connect the power cord and turn on the power switch.
Do not frequently turn on or off the power switch. Wait more
than 30 seconds between a turn-on and a turn-off operation.
After the power switch of the power module is turned off, the
LEDs on the power module will remain on for a while. Make
sure the LEDs are off when you remove the power module.
The power module provides three red/green LEDs: power input LED
(INPUT), power output LED (OUTPUT), and fan status LED (FAN).
Table 2 LED description
LED Status Description
INPUT
Off No power input.
Green Normal power input.
Red Abnormal power input.
5
LED Status Description
OUTPUT
Off No power output.
Green Normal power output.
Red
The power switch is off.
A power output alarm, such as output
short circuit, overcurrent,
overvoltage, or overtemperature, has
occurred. The power module has
entered self-protection mode.
FAN
Off No power input.
Green The fan is operating correctly.
Red
The power switch is off.
The fan is faulty (The power module
enters self-protection mode and stops
power output two seconds after the
fan fails).

Installing and removing the power
module
CAUTION:
Do not install the NSQM2AC1400 power module and other types
of power modules on the same device.
To avoid bodily injury and device damage, follow the procedures
in Figure 2 and
Figure 3, respectively, to install and remove the
power module.

Figure 3 Procedure for removing the power module
Installing the power module
1. Wear an ESD wrist strap and make sure the strap makes good
skin contact and is reliably grounded.
2. Unpack the power module. Make sure the power module meets
the power requirements of the device.
3. Holding the power module handle with one hand and supporting
the bottom with the other, push the power module into the slot
along the guide rails. Make sure the power module makes good
contact with the connectors on the backplane.

switch
7
Follow the forward inertia to push the power module into the
chassis.
To avoid damaging the power module and the connectors on
the backplane, pull out and reinstall the power module in case of
any misalignment.

Removing the power module
1. Wear an ESD wrist strap, and make sure the wrist strap makes
good skin contact and is reliably grounded.
2. Use a Phillips screwdriver to loosen the captive screws on the
power module.
3. Hold the handle of the power module with one hand to pull it part
way out of the slot. Support the module bottom with the other to
take out the module slowly.
Connecting and removing the power cord
WARNING!
When you connect and remove the power cord, make sure the
power switch is turned off.
CAUTION:
The NSQM2AC1400 power module uses a 16A power cord.
Prepare a 16A power strip for the power module.
9
The following describes the procedure for connecting a power cord.
To remove a power cord, follow the inverse order.
To connect the power cord:
1. Use a Phillips screwdriver to remove the screws from the power
cord retainer and remove the right part of the retainer.
2. Connect the power cord to the power receptacle on the power
module.
3. Use screws to fasten the right part of the retainer to the other
part to lock the power cord.
4. Connect the other end of the AC power cord to the AC power
source.
