Si n c e t h e Bl u -ray Disc specifications are new and evolving, some discs may not play properly
depending on the disc type, version and encoding. It is possible that a Blu-ray disc
manufactured after the player was manufactured uses certain new features of the Blu-ray Disc

Use a commercially available CD/ DVD/ BD lens cleaner (not supplied) to periodically clean the
lens in this player. Please read the instructions supplied with the lens cleaner carefully before
use.

Connecon your BLU-BD3000 player
Connecon Power
Connect the power plug from the
player to a mains power outlet and then
turn the switch on.
Check the power LED on the front panel
of the player. It should now be RED.
Video and component input
Audio from the BLU-BD3000 can be played through a connected television or through a 2.1
or 5.1 channel speaker system or even a full home theatre surround sound system.
GOOD: Connecng RCA Stereo and Video
Requires RCA Stereo Audio and video cable
Standard colours for RCA stereo is WHITE=LEFT channel, RED= RIGHT channel, YELLOW =

Plug the COAXIAL DIGITAL AUDIO Cable in to the COAXIAL DIGITAL AUDIO OUTPUT on the
player and plug the other end in to the COAXIAL DIGITAL AUDIO Cable input on the television
or Home Theatre system.

Plug the rst HDMI cable (A) into the HDMI OUTPUT on the player and into the HDMI input
on the Home The
atre System.
Plug the second HDMI cable (B) into the HDMI OUTPUT on the Home Theatre System and
into the HDMI input on the television.
NOTE: If you have connected the BLU-BD3000 to a Home Theatre System using the Coaxial
Digital Audio cable or the 5.1 Audio Cables you may need to also connect the RCA Stereo
Connecon to your TV to allow Audio to be heard through the TV when it is not conv
enient
to have the Home Theatre System turned on.
Combinaons of Audio and Video Connecons are possible depending on the equipment the
player is to be connected to. Please refer to the equipment user manual to determine the
method or combinaon that best suits your needs.

HDM I can t ransmit bot h audio and video signal s over a si ngle cable. If you have an HDMI
capable receiver t hat can support HDMI audio, you can si mpl y run an HDMI cabl e f rom t he
player to your receiver and enable HDMI audio on the receiver (see your receivers owners
manual for more information). The receiver usually has an HDMI output that you can
connect t o your TV t o pass t he video signal.
HDM I is a wonderful t hi ng. A singl e cabl e can t ranspor t bot h audio AND video f rom your
player to your display. Be aware, however, that HDMI is an evolving standard, and there
could be compat i bili t y issues. A receiver t hat support s audi o input over HDMI i s required.

audio input capability, please read the following sections regarding other connect ion
methods.
In order to play multi-channel audio f or al l f or mat s, t he r ecei ver must suppor t HDM I v1.1 or
later. For Blu-ray Disc, a receiver that supports HDMI v1.3 with decoding capability for Dolby
Tr ueHD and DTS-HD M ast er Audi o i s pr ef er red. Pl ease check t he speci f i cat i ons of your
receiver to ensure that it meets the requirements.
Due t o bandwidt h li mi t at ions, hi gh resol ut ion audio for mat s such as Dol by Digit al Plus,
Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD Hi gh Resol ut i on and DTS-HD M ast er Audi o cannot be sent t hr ough
the coaxial digital audio output. A reduced resolution version of the same audio track will be
output instead. To listen to high resolution audio formats in their best quality, please use the
HDM I connect i on i f you have a receiver that handles HDMI audio.
Due t o copyright rest rict ions and bandwidt h li mi t at ions, f ull r esol ut i on audi o f rom DVDAudio
discs cannot be sent through the coaxial or optical digital audio output. To listen to DVD-
Audio in f ul l resolut ion, please use the HDMI or analogue audio connections.

Internet/Network connecon
Connecng by Ethernet
Requires an Ethernet cable (not included)
The BLU-BD3000 Blu-Ray Disc Player supports the BD-Live™ feature oered on some Blu-ray
Disc tles. BD-Live™ oers extra downloadable content and addional online interacve
programs. The available BD-Live™ contents vary by discs and studios, and may include
addional subtles, commentaries, movie trailers, games, and/or on
line chat.
Connecng the player to the Internet will also allow the player to obtain rmware updates
via the Internet. In order to uize the BD-Live™ feature or update rmware via the Internet,
the player needs to be connected to a broadband Internet connecon. You must have
access to a working broadband Internet service connecon. It is not necessary to connect to
the Internet if you do not intend to use BD-Live™.
Broadband Router/Modem
Plug an Ethernet cable (Category 5/5E straight Ethernet cable) into the ETHERNET PORT on
the rear of the player and plug the other end in to a spare port on a router, switch or
modem with an internet connecon.
For most home network setups the BLU-BD3000 will connect automacally.
Please check the sengs as shown in the main menu described later in this manual.
Refer to
the operang instrucons supplied with the broadband router or modem, or
contact your
Internet service provider for quesons related to seng up the router or
modem.

Insert the USB drive (or cable) into the USB port on the front of the player.
If the drive is to be used for BD-Li v e cont ent it is accessed t hrough t he main menu of t he
Bl u-ray discs when played.

later in this manual (See page 39)
NOTE: Th e USB po r t s a r e r a t ed t o p r o vi d e a ma xi mu m of 5 V, 50 0m A p o w er t o t h e USB d r i v e.
It is sufficient for all USB thumb drives and flash memory card readers, but may not be
suf f i cient f or USB hard di sks. It i s recommended t hat you use a USB hard di sk wi t h an
ext ernal power supply.
Thi s uni t suppor t s USB M ass St or age Cl ass Bul k-On l y Tr a n sp o r t d evi ces only. Most USB
thumbs drives, portable hard disk drives and card readers conform to this device class. Other
USB devices such as MP3 players, digit al cameras, and mobile phones may not be
compat ibl e.

In some cases, an incompatible USB device may cause the player to stop responding. If this
occurs simply turn off the power, remove t he USB device, and turn t he player back on.
The pl ayer accesses t he USB dr i ve i n r ead and w r i t e mode. I n or der t o mi ni mi ze t he r i sk of
data corruption, it is recommended that you only unplug the USB device when playback is
complet ely st opped.

Note: Not all options on the remote cont rol will be available on all discs. Some opt ions
require the content of information to be available on the disc itself to work. Please refer to
the Disc case to determine available features or options on the disc.
