Powering Up the DSU
Procedure
1. At the rear of the DSU, insert the round end of the
power cable into the receptacle labeled POWER.
2. Connect the 3-prong plug at the other end of the
cable to an ac outlet.
CAUTION
Only use the power
transformer designed for the
Model 3610 DSU. Using other
transformers may result in
personal injury or damage to
the equipment.
Power-Up Routine
When you apply power, the DSU performs a power-up
routine and:
• Determines what hardware options are installed, if
any. This may include DSU, DBM, and MUX.
• Automatically runs a Device Test on itself and each
installed hardware option. All front panel lights
flash on and off.
Continue if you receive successful messages. If a Fail
message appears or a hardware option does not appear,
refer to your User’s Guide, Document No.
3610-A2-GB46, for power-up messages and basic
procedures for changing configuration options and
troubleshooting.
To verify the new firmware version:
Procedure
1. Access the Status (Stat) branch from the front
panel.
2. Select ID. Press the
key until the
DSU SW ver appears.
3. Reinstall the factory configuration options (use the
FacC configuration for a control or FacT for a
tributary).
Note that the Health and Status (H/S) branch may
display a Confg Corrupt message. This message
will disappear when you reinstall the factory
configuration options.
4. Make any desired changes in the configuration
option sets using the Configuration Worksheets
prepared prior to replacing the firmware. Verify
that the network address and the DBM directories
are still correct. If not, make the appropriate
changes.
