People’s lives depend on your proper installation and servicing of Federal Signal products. It is important to
read and follow all instructions shipped with this product and the original product. In addition, listed below

ThispublicationprovidessupplementalinstructionsforinstallingtheVision®SLRlightbarwithStandalone
SignalMaster™ to a vehicle.
Unpacking the Kit
Afterunpackingthekit,inspectitfordamagethatmayhaveoccurredintransit.Ifithasbeendamaged,le
aclaimimmediatelywiththecarrierstatingtheextentofdamage.Carefullycheckallenvelopes,shipping
labels,andtagsbeforeremovingordestroyingthem.EnsurethatthepartsshowninTable1arecontained
inthepackingcarton(Table1).Ifyouaremissinganyparts,contactCustomerSupportat1-800-264-
3578,7a.m.to5p.m.,MondaythroughFriday(CT).Alsorequiredisaninstaller-suppliedcontrolheadfor
controlling the functions of the lightbar.

Mounting the SignalMaster
LOCATING OPERATOR CONTROLS—Locate the light system controls so the vehicle
and controls can be operated safely under all driving conditions. Failure to heed this
caution could result in driver distraction or driver error while operating the vehicle.
ROOF SUPPORT STRUCTURE—There is a roof support member that spans the
distance between the driver and passenger side. DO NOT DRILL THROUGH THIS
MEMBER! Adjust any hole locations until the holes can be drilled without going
through this member. Failure to follow this warning will weaken the roof of the
vehicle and may lead to an increased chance of bodily injury or death in a roll-over
accident.
SIGNALMASTER ORIENTATION—The SignalMaster lightbar must be oriented
correctly for proper operation. The assembly should be installed with the ROC board
on top.
IMPORTANT:Planallcableroutingbeforecompletingtheinstallation.Planthelocationofthewire-
routing hole so that the cable does not have tight bends.
TomounttheSignalMaster:
1. Determinethedesireddistancebetweenthemountingholesandattachthemountingbracketstothe
SignalMasterwiththe#10Torxscrews.
2. Markthepositionsofthetwomountingholesandtheholeforthecable.

Connecting the 8-Position Connectors
8-POSITION CONNECTOR PRECAUTION—The 8-position connector is not
waterproof. Before cutting the SignalMaster cable, determine the cable lengths
required to ensure that the cable connector is located in a dry location inside the
vehicle.
ToelectricallyconnecttheSignalMastertotheVisionSLR:
1. CuttheSignalMastercabletolengthandrouteittothechosenconnectionpoint.
2. StripandconnecttheeightSignalMastercontrolwiresasshowninFigures2and3onpage4.Keepthe
pairs twisted together, separating them just enough to insert the ends into the connector.
3. EnsurethateachSignalMastercontrolwireisintheproperposition.Connectthe8-positionconnectors
together,andapplypressureuntiltheylock.
4. Afterinstallation,testthelightsystemtoensurethatitisoperatingproperly.
5. Testallvehiclefunctions,includinghornoperation,vehiclesafetyfunctions,andvehiclelightsystems,
toensureproperoperation.Ensurethattheinstallationhasnotaffectedthevehicleoperationorchanged
any vehicle safety function or circuit.
