connect your SwitchView unit.

(Optional) Powering the
SwitchView unit
Power down all computers that will be attached to your
SwitchView unit. If necessary, plug one end of the power
supply (sold separately) into the power socket on the
rear of the SwitchView unit. Plug the other end into an
appropriate AC power source.
Connecting the peripheral devices
Plug your VGA monitor into the port labeled CONSOLE
on the back of the SwitchView. Plug your keyboard and
mouse into the labeled ports on the front of the unit.
Connecting the first computer
Locate an Avocent SVPS2C-6A or SVPS2C-9A cable
(sold separately). Attach one end to the corresponding
connectors on the first computer to be attached to the
SwitchView. Route the other end of the cable to the
SwitchView and attach the remaining connectors to
an available port set. The port sets are labeled to
correspond with the channels on the unit.
Connecting the remaining computers
Repeat step 3 to connect additional computers.
Powering attached computers
Next to each port is a blue LED. A blinking LED indicates
that the attached computer is not powered.
Power the first attached computer. Wait until it has
completely booted before switching to the next
computer and repeating the process.

Plug in the monitor,
followed by
the keyboard
and mouse.
(Optional) Power

computers and attach
the appropriate
power supply.

SwitchView unit.

Plug in the remaining
computers to the
SwitchView unit.

Power up all
attached
computers.

NOTE: All drivers necessary for the SwitchView
are built into the unit. If you are installing the unit
with a Windows operating system and are
prompted for drivers, press NEXT until the
configuration is complete.
NOTE: If keyboard or mouse issues arise when
using a low-power system such as a laptop, you
should order an optional power supply by
contacting Avocent Technical Support.

Selecting a channel
A channel may be selected in one of the following ways:
Pressing the button corresponding to the
relevant computer
Using a hotkey command
The following instructions will help you
operate your SwitchView unit.

Using Hotkey Commands
A hotkey command can be used by pressing a series of
key sequences:
<CTRL><CTRL> <X*> switches the keyboard,
mouse and video simultaneously to another system.
<CTRL><CTRL> <LEFT ARROW**> toggles scan
mode on or off.
<CTRL><CTRL> <RIGHT ARROW**> resets and
reinitializes the mouse in case of lock up.
* <X> = the port number of the attached computer
** <SCROLL LOCK><SCROLL LOCK> can be
substituted in any hotkey sequences that use
<CTRL><CTRL>
