A. Record Messages
1. Turn on the iTalk2.
2. Press and hold both the record button
and switch top 1 simultaneously (light
will begin to flash).
3. Record message.
(Sample Message: Did you know
Mount Ranier is located near Seattle,
Washington?”)
4. Release both switch top and record
button.
5. Repeat for switch top 2.

2. Place symbol on switch top and replace clear
snap cap.
3. Pull and slide out symbol storage tray to
store additional symbols.

1. Plug 1/8 inch (3.5 mm) cord or cable into
toy/appliance jack 1 or 2.
2. Plug the other end of the cord or cable into
the desired toy/appliance.
3. Ensure both your iTalk2
TM
and the toy/
appliance are turned on.
4. Press the appropriate switch top to play
recorded message and activate the toy/
appliance.
Plug your toy/appliance into the appropriate jack, and
plug the other end of the cord into the jack on your toy/
appliance or into a battery device adapter as shown in the
above diagram.

Use the Easy Mounting Base
(purchased separately) to
mount the iTalk2
TM
to a vertical
surface or to a mounting
system.
A. Attaching the Mounting
Base to the iTalk2
TM
1. Position the four posts on
the mounting base into the
corresponding holes on the
bottom of the iTalk2
TM
.
2. Slide the base forward until
it clicks into place.
B. Detaching the Mounting
Base from the iTalk2
TM
1. Press the quick-release tab
on the mounting base.
2. Slide the base towards the
back of the device.
Mounting Options
Temporary Wall Mount
1. Place mounting plate on wall
and mark location of the
slotted screw holes.
2. Drill holes where marked
and insert screws (#8 pan
head screw).
3. Attach screws to wall and
leave 1/8”-1/4” sticking out.
4. Hang mounting base on
screws using the slotted
screw holes.
5. Attach the mounting base to
the iTalk2
TM
.
Small Triangular Mounting
Plate
When using the iTalk2
TM
mounting
base with an AbleNet mounting
system, attach the mounting
base to the small triangular plate
using the screws and wing nuts
provided with the small triangular
mounting plate. This enables you
to quickly connect and disconnect
your iTalk2
TM
from a mounting
system.
Permanent Wall Mount
For a permanent mount, screw the
plate directly into the wall using
three #8 pan head screws and the
holes indicated in the drawing
below.

disconnect the device from any equipment.
Wipe the activation area with a damp cloth (a
mild soap may be used if desired).

Problem: Solution:
Does not record or play back. 1. Replace the battery.
2. If above does not solve the problem, please call

Will not operate toy/appliance 1. Make sure the toy/appliance you are trying to operate
is turned “on.”
2. Make sure you are plugged into the toy/appliance
jack that coincides with the activation surface you
wish to operate.
3. Make sure the iTalk2
TM
is turned “on.”
4. Make sure you have recorded a message.
5. If above does not solve the problem, please call

Only one activation area or toy/appliance is working 1. Call AbleNet’s Technical Support at (800) 322-0956.
The recording has poor speech quality or slowed speech. 1. Replace the battery.

AbleNet Repair/Return Information
All AbleNet manufactured communication aids are warranted for one year from the date of purchase. If
documentation identifying the date of purchase is not supplied, the warranty period will be determined
as one year from the manufacture date stamped inside the product.
All products under warranty are repaired free of charge. Products no longer covered by warranty may
be repaired for a nominal fee. All repairs are warranted for 90 days. Before returning a product for
repair, please contact an AbleNet customer service representative for a Return Authorization Number
(RA#) and repair charge, if applicable.
To return a product for refund or repair, please indicate the following with your product(s):
l Name and phone number
l RA#
l Return shipping address
l Brief description of problem (what the product is or isn’t doing along with what has already been
done to correct the problem) or reason for return
l Documentation that shows the purchase date (i.e., copy of packing slip, purchase order or invoice)
