If you install accessories directly when installing the construction kit, read these instructions before installing the construction kit,
since this will change some work steps.
The delivery includes some screws and slot nuts in larger numbers than necessary. They are meant as replacements in case a screw
or similar material is lost in assembly.
For cylinder-head screws, the length (l) is measured without the screw head; for recessed-head screws, the length measurement
takes place with the screw head. The diameter (d) is always measured by the thread.
b) Required tools
Different screwdrivers (cross-head and slotted)
Hex key 1.5 mm / 2 mm / 2.5 mm / 3 mm / 4 mm
Hexagon socket wrench 4 mm / 5 mm / 5.5 mm / 6 mm / 7 mm
Hexagon spanner 5 mm / 6 mm / 7 mm / 8 mm / 10 mm / 11 mm / 13 mm
A hexagon socket wrench or a hexagon spanner may be used in some cases.
Wire cutter
Small at pliers and small long-nose pliers
Feeler gauge 0.3 mm
11
c) Use of the slot nuts
Push the slot nut into the aluminium prole slot turned by 90° longi-
tudinally.
Push, e.g., a small hexagon socket wrench or a similar tool carefully
into the slot nut's thread.
Turn the slot nut up until it "latches" and is held cleanly in the guide.
Now you can move it back and forth as desired.
When you tighten the respective screw in the slot nut, always make
sure that the slot nut is placed cleanly in the nut.
If you have to take out the slot nut, push it to the side so that it slips
from the guide. Then turn it as when inserting. If the slot nut has the
position shown in the 1st gure on this page, tip the thread up by 90°.
If the nut protrudes from the slot, just pull it out.
Alternatively, and while the slot of the aluminium prole is still acces-
sible, you can also push the slot nut into the slot from the side or pull
it out that way.

8. Assemblyofretrottingkitforheatableprintingbed
This chapter ("8. Assembly of retrotting kit for heatable printing bed") applies to the available set as well as to the individual parts
(aluminium die-cast plate, heating mat and mains unit). This chapter will also support you in replacing one of these components, e.g.
in case of a defect.
Beforeyoustart,movetheprintingtableroughlytothecentreoftheprinter.
Thenpullthemainsplugfromtheprintermainsunitfromthemainssocket. Alsodisconnectthegreenplugofthemains
unitfromthemainPCB.
a)Disassemblyoftheoriginalprintingbed
First remove the two holding brackets of the printing plate.
Then carefully remove the glass support from the printing plate. You
will not need either for the new aluminium die-cast plate anymore.
Move the table up until you can reach the knurled nuts at the bottom.
Remove all 4 knurled nuts and the 4 spacers crosswise.
Then take out the old printing plate and pull the 4 springs from the
screws.
Carefully remove all 4 nuts from the screws.
Remove the 4 washers and pull out the screws.
The 4 recessed-head screws, washers, nuts, springs, spacers and
knurled nuts are needed again for the printing bed!
You can put the old printing plate aside. You will no longer need it.
13
b)Preparationofthenewprintingplate
Gluingtogethertheprintingplate
1 x aluminium die-cast plate
1 x heater (self-adhesive)
First check alignment of the heating by putting it on the bottom of the
aluminium die-cast plate. It must be aligned so that all four sides end
ush with the aluminium plate.
The top can be recognised by the recessed bores for the screws. The
heating must be attached accordingly on the other side.
Clear the bottom of the aluminium die-cast plate of dust and grease
with a rag and solvent.
Remove the protective lm from the adhesive side of the heating and
glue it to the new printing plate without any folds and blisters.
Press on the heating well everywhere, e.g. with your st.
Attachingtheholdingscrewstothenewprintingplate
1 x aluminium die-cast plate with glued-on heating
4 x recessed-head screw M4x40 black
4 x washer (diameter inside/outside 4.3/12 mm) black
4 x nut M4 black
Attach the 4 recessed-head screws to the printing plate with the 4
washers and the 4 nuts. The screws must be pushed in from the side
with the countersunk bores. The order is: Recessed-headscrew-
printingplate-washer-nut
Tighten the nuts.
14
c)Assemblyofthenewprintingplate
1 x aluminium die-cast plate with glued-on heating
4 x pressure spring for printing table (length 24 mm)
4 x spacer 7 mm (diameter inside 4.2 mm)
4 x knurled nut, black (plastic)
Place a pressure spring on each screw of the printing plate and guide
them through the bores in the undertable.
Push the plate from above, push one spacer each onto the respective
screw from below and secure them with a knurled nut.
When all 4 screws have been threaded in and secured, tighten the 4
knurled nuts evenly.
The sequence is as follows:
Printingplate-pressurespring-lowertable-spacer-knurled

15
d) Connection of the electrical lines
Place the cables of the heating mat to the main PCB as illustrated.
The cable must be placed behind the left guide rail when viewed from
the front. Thread it through the intended opening in the main PCB.
If you have only purchased the heated printing bed, but not
the housing, attach it to the PCB holder (after connecting
the cable to the PCB) with an adhesive base and a cable
tie.
Connect the two open lines of the heating to connection "D8" of the
main PCB. The polarity is irrelevant for this.
Connect the plug for the temperature sensor to connection "T1". The
polarity does not matter for this either.
Fasten the cable with a cable tie.
For this, also observe the next gure, the adjusted connection plan of
the main PCB. The heating and sensor are illustrated green here for
better overview.

e) Conversion of the mains unit
Take the original mains unit and remove the green connection plug.
The mains unit and the two wire jumpers are no longer needed.
1 x mains unit new from the set
1 x connection plug from the main PCB (green)
The white lines of the mains unit are plus, the black ones are minus.
Now connect the white double line of the mains unit to the left terminal
of the plug. The 2nd terminal from the left holds the black double line
of the mains unit.
The 3rd terminal must have the remaining white line connected; the
remaining black line is connected to the far right.
If you have only acquired the set for the heated printing plate, now
connect the mains unit to the green plug of the main PCB again. Oth-
erwise, skip this item.
Observe the corresponding chapter in the main instructions.
17
f) Important additional information
If you will install the metal housing now, perform the following important items only after installing the housing.
Install the rmware that supports the heating plate as well. On this, observe chapter "8. Installation of the software and rmware" in the main
instructions.
At this occasion, also check if a new rmware version of the rmware may be available. Then install the new version right away.
Important! You need to select the rmware le called "RF500-withBed"!
When the rmware is installed, perform all items in chapter "15. Calibration" of the main instructions of the RF500.
First set the Z end stop.
Then set the printing plate. Always make these settings in the hot condition from now on. Heat up the printing bed to approx. 60 °C for this.
The corresponding function can be found in the printer menu under: "Control" - "Temperature" - "Bed: 0“.
Check in the slicer proles that a temperature for the heating plate is set.
For this, open the slicer settings, select the prole and navigate to the tab "FilamentSettings", item "Filament".
For this, observe chapter "19. h) More detailed description of the slicer functions" from the main instructions.
A temperature must be set for the setting item "Bed" for the rst layer and each of the remaining layers.
We recommend, e.g., about 60 °C for PLA for the rst layer and 55 °C for the others.
18
9. AssemblyofLEDlightstrips
The LED strip is connected to the main PCB. Once the mains unit supplies the main PCB with power, the LED strip will light up as
well.
Beforeyoustart,movetheprintingtableallthewaydown.
Thenpullthemainsplugfromtheprintermainsunitfromthemainssocket. Alsodisconnectthegreenplugofthemains
unitfromthemainPCB.
1 x LED light strip (pre-sized)
There are two different options for attaching the converter PCB of the LED strip to the printer. The rst option is at the upper alu-
minium prole on the left where the cable for the display is running as well. The other method would be in the area of the main PCB.
If you want to use the self-printable housing for the main PCB, always choose the 1st method. Otherwise, it doesn't really matter.
If you want to attach the converter PCB to the left upper aluminium
prole, thread the line end of the LED strip from the inside through
the cable feedthrough to the PCB. Push the cable through as far as
possible.
If you want to attach the converter PCB at the main PCB, push the
LED strip through the cable feedthrough from behind as far as pos-
sible.
19
Open the table tie with which the display cable is attached to the front
aluminium prole.
You may also have to shift the adhesive base a little to the right (from
the rear view). This depends on whether the LED strip completely ts
the prole and whether its cable can still be attached to the adhesive
base.
Glue the LED light strip to the front aluminium prole. Do not glue the
strip directly onto the groove, but onto the area behind.
Degrease the adhesive area rst!
Attach the cable of the LED strip and the two cables of the display to
the adhesive base with a cable tie.
20
Open the 3 cable ties with which the two display cables are attached.
If you have chosen the 2nd method (top and right gures), attach the
LED strip cable and the other cables with new cable ties.
When using the 1st method, attach the converter PCB in the area of
the arrow from above.
TightenthecabletiesonlyafterconnectingtheLEDstrip!
Connect the plug of the LED strip to both pins below the X-motor
driver.
The plug must be attached so that the pin with the red line (+) is on the
left! Observe the circuit diagram (see gure below) and the enlarged
gure at the upper right.
Always observethe properpolarity! Otherwise, theLED strip,
themainPCBandthemainsunitcanbedestroyed!
Attach the cable and the converter PCB with cable ties.
