Robertshaw® gas valves come in single and dual 115V models with or
without pilot take-o or in 3 volt versions for use with a silicon carbide
ignitor. Make sure your replacement valve has the correct warning label
for the range to be serviced.
CAUTION
THIS VALVE SHOULD BE REPLACED BY A QUALIFIED SERVICE
TECHNICIAN. IMPROPER INSTALLATION CAN PRESENT A
HAZARD.
CAUTION
LABEL ALL WIRES PRIOR TO DISCONNECTION WHEN
SERVICING VALVES. WIRING ERRORS CAN CAUSE IMPROPER
AND DANGEROUS OPERATION.
WARNING:
DO NOT APPLY 115 VOLTS TO ANY VALVE USING A SILICON
CARBIDE IGNITOR AS IT WILL BURN THE WINDINGS OUT. IF
TEST SHOWS THE VALVE IS GOOD, CHECK FOR OTHER
REASONS FOR THE FAILURE.
The operang ambient temperature range for this valve is 32°F - 300°F.
This valve is cered for use with natural, LP manufactured, and
mixed gases.
TEST:
1. Turn o gas and disconnect electrical power.
2. To test valve, disconnect wires from valve terminals and test for
electrical connuity using a volt/ohm meter.
3. Remove old control. Note: When removing or replacing valve,
support valve inlet ng with a wrench.
4. Inspect electric wires for worn insulaon, breaks, etc., and replace
with original equipment wires, if necessary.
5. Make sure hood size on replacement valve is idencal to original
valve. DO NOT REMOVE OR REPLACE THE HOOD AND/OR PIN.
6. Extreme care must be taken not to let any foreign material, dirt,
burrs, etc., fall into hood outlet or valve inlet. This could present
a hazard.
7. For LP gas installaon, the hood should be screwed down against
the hood pin. For natural gas installaon, the hood should be
backed o two to three turns from the hood pin.
8. Replace the new control exactly as originally installed. Make sure all
gas connecons are ght and that the wires are properly aached.
9. Turn on gas and check for leaks using a diluted soap soluon applied
over all ngs. Watch for bubbles which would indicate a leak.
Aer test, rinse o soap soluon with water as soluon might cause
corrosion. Make sure electrical connecons are dry.
10. Connect electric power and test for operaon:
a. Turn on oven.
b. Check for ignion of burner.
c. If burner does not ignite within 140 seconds turn gas o and
reevaluate system for other problem.
