1.3 For Your Safety
IMPORTANT! DO NOT OPERATE THE UNIT BEFORE READING THIS SECTION
The Loctite
®
Zeta
®
7500 Portable UV Spot Lamp is a source of long wavelength ultraviolet light
used to cure light sensitive products. The following guidelines should be followed at all times to
ensure protection from the ultraviolet light.
1. UV protective glasses with side shields should be worn when working with and around the
lamp system. Glasses should meet ANSI Z87.1 certification.
2. Potentially exposed skin should be covered. Long sleeves and protective gloves should be
worn when placing and removing parts from under the lamp.
3. Never look directly at the output from the lamp or directly into the lamp/reflector.
4. Removing the glass filter from the lamp housing may speed up the cure of some products,
however, this will also speed injury to eyes and unprotected skin. DO NOT OPERATE THE
LAMP WITH THE FILTER REMOVED.
UV safety is the responsibility of the user, especially when operating the Zeta
®
7500 in a non-
standard configuration. When in doubt about UV safety, consult a Loctite technical specialist at
1-800-LOCTITE OR 1-800-562-8483.

2.1 Field of Operation
The Loctite
®
Zeta
®
7500 Portable UV Spot Lamp is ideal for low energy “Light Cure” products. The
unit is primarily used for confined bondline applications to cure Lite-Tak
®
Light Cure Adhesives.
NOTE: UV cure rate is dependent on lamp intensity, distance from the light source, depth of
cure needed, or bondline gap and the light transmittance of the substrate through which the
radiation must pass. Loctite recommends that you test all adhesive applications under simulated
or actual end-use conditions to ensure that the adhesive meets or exceeds all required product
specifications. Refer to the Loctite Light Cure Selector Guide or product Technical Data Sheets
for curing specifications and performance.

3.1 Utility and Space Requirements
Electrical: 115 VAC, 5 amps, 60 Hz.
Overall Dimensions: 17.27 inches high x 9.88 inches wide x 5.88 inches deep.
3.2 Installing the UV Bulb
Lamp should be handled only when cool and with clean cotton gloves. Do Not touch the lamp
with bare hands. Oils on your hands will etch the quartz glass, create hot spots, and can reduce
lamp life.
The unit shipped without the UV bulb installed. See instructions below for initial bulb installation.
1. Disconnect the electric power from unit.
2. Remove the three phillips head screws holding the filter assembly to the lamp housing.
3. Remove the filter assembly.
4. Wearing clean cotton gloves, screw the new bulb securely into socket.
5. Replace the filter assembly and screws.
3.3 Replacing the UV Bulb
1. Disconnect the electric power from unit.
2. Allow the lamp to cool.
3. Remove the three phillips head screws holding the filter assembly to the lamp housing.
4. Remove the filter assembly.
5. Wearing clean cotton gloves, remove the old bulb.
6. Screw the new bulb securely into socket.
7. Replace the filter assembly and screws.
3
3 Installation
4 Operation
1. Connect the plug to a 115 volt, 60 Hz. grounded outlet.
2. Move the power switch to the “ON” position. Allow 3 to 5 minutes for the lamp to reach
full intensity.
3. If the lamp will be used intermittently, at frequent intervals, leave the lamp on continuously
rather than turn it on and off. This procedure gives longer bulb life and avoids the lamp
restarting delay.
4. If the lamp is turned off and then back on, it will not restart until the mercury vapor in the bulb
cools. This will take approximately 4 minutes.
5. The lamp head can be positioned on either of the two mounting posts on the power supply or
it can be removed for other mounting or hand held use.
WARNING!
Lamp Housing and Filter will get hot during continuous operation. Take care not to touch these
parts. DO NOT operate the lamp with the filter removed.
4
5 Care and Maintenance
Unplug the Power Cord from Wall Outlet and Disconnect from Unit Before Any
Maintenance is Attempted.
5.1 Glass and Reflector
Clean the glass every two months or as required. Product vapors can condense on the glass
over time, forming a film that can significantly reduce the transmittance of UV light to the parts.
Clean the aluminum reflector every four months or as required.
The reflector is accessed by removing the filter glass. Use isopropyl alcohol to clean both the
reflector and glass.
5.2 Lamps and Sockets
Inspect the lamp sockets when installing a new lamp and replace if corroded. Heat generated by
poor connections can reduce lamp life.
Lamp should be replaced as required (follow instructions in Section 3.2. It is recommended that
the lamp be monitored regularly with a radiometer to insure that the product is being completely
cured. The Loctite
®
Zeta
®
Meter 7010 (part number 98001) can be used to monitor performance.
As an alternative, regular inspection of the cured product may provide an indirect and less
accurate measure of lamp function. If a radiometer is not used to track lamp life, the lamp
should be replaced at least after every 1,000 hours of operation.
6 Troubleshooting
