The Loctite
®
UV Spot Radiometer will be used to measure the output of UV
Wand Products. Always assure that the Wand is held securely in the Wand
Sensor Head, and inserted to the stop inside the Sensor Head.

1. UV protective glasses with side shields should be worn when working
with and around UV Wand systems. Glasses should meet ANSI Z87.1
certification. UV protective glasses should be available with the system
being tested. If they are not available, they may be purchased from
Loctite. Safety Glasses Item # 97210.
2. Potentially exposed skin should be covered. Long sleeves and
protective gloves should be worn when measuring UV Wand intensity.
3. Never look directly at the output from the UV Wand.
4. Make Sure that the Radiometer reading is Zero, before removing the
UV Wand from the Sensor Head.
When in doubt about UV safety, consult a Loctite technical specialist at:
1-800-LOCTITE (562-8483).

2. Description
The ZETA
®
7021 spot Radiometer Measures the UV Intensity emitted from
a 3 mm or a 5 mm UV wand. The Intensity is measured from
280-400 nm (UV A+B). The Radiometer is traceable to the National
Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).

2.1 Operation
The Loctite
®
UV Spot Radiometer is well suited for most production
operations. The UV Spot Radiometer can be used to verify that the output
from the wand system, under test, is proper for the curing process. When
making measurements the wand should be held as straight as possible,
and the ends should be clean.

3.2 Calibration
The ZETA
®
7021 has been factory calibrated, prior to shipment, directly to
the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) primary physical
standard for UV photodiodes.
The recommended calibration frequency is every 12 months.
Contact Loctite Corporation at 1-800-571-5174 for re-calibration services.

4.1 Unpacking and Inspection
Carefully remove the system from its shipping carton and inspect it for any
signs of damage. Any damage should be reported immediately to the
carrier. Refer to the list of supplied parts (section 1.3) compare contents
received to list of parts supplied. Report any missing parts promptly to the
Loctite customer service department at 1-800-LOCTITE (562-8483).
4.2 Installation and Start-up

7021 UV Spot Radiometer will arrive completely
assembled. All that is required is to plug in the Sensor Head and install a
9 Volt Alkaline Battery (Not included with unit). Battery is installed by
sliding off rear cover (see section 2). Turn on switch and you are ready to
make measurements.

5.1 Controls and Operation
The Zeta
®
7021 is easy to use. It requires only that a 9 volt Alkaline Battery
be installed and the power switched on to operate. The panel meter
displays the power reading in Watts per centimeter squared.

7.1 Maintenance
Sensor Head
A 12 month interval is recommended for the calibration of the Sensor
Head. Contact Loctite at 1-860-571-5174 for calibration instructions. Keep
the filter glass clean, it is located under the Sensor Head cap. The glass
can be accessed by unscrewing the Sensor Head Cap (see figure section
2). Cleaning can be performed with a cotton swab and isopropyl alcohol.
Low Battery
When battery is low, a small battery symbol will appear in the upper left
hand corner of the display, indicating the 9 volt Alkaline battery needs to
be replaced.

Loctite expressly warrants that all products referred to in this Instruction Manual for the ZETA
®
7021 UV Spot Radiometer (hereafter
called “Products”) shall be free from defects in materials and workmanship. Liability for Loctite shall be limited, at its option, to
replacing those Products which are shown to be defective either in materials or workmanship or to credit to the purchaser the amount
of the purchase price thereof (plus freight and insurance charges paid therefore by the user). The purchaser’s sole and exclusive
remedy for breach of warranty shall be such replacement or credit.
A claim of defect in materials or workmanship in any Products shall be allowed only when it is submitted to Loctite in writing within
one month after discovery of the defect or after the time the defect should reasonably have been discovered and in any event, within
twelve months after the delivery of the Products to the purchaser. No such claim shall be allowed in respect of Products which have
been neglected or improperly stored, transported, handled, installed, connected, operated, used or maintained or in the event of
unauthorized modification of the Products including, where products, parts or attachments for use in connection with the Products are
available from Loctite, the use of products, parts or attachments which are not manufactured by Loctite.
No Products shall be returned to Loctite for any reason without prior written approval from Loctite. Products shall be returned freight
prepaid in accordance with instructions from Loctite.
NO WARRANTY IS EXTENDED TO ANY EQUIPMENT WHICH HAS BEEN ALTERED, MISUSED, NEGLECTED, OR DAMAGED BY
ACCIDENT, OR IF THE SYSTEM IS USED TO DISPENSE ANY LIQUID MATERIAL OTHER THAN LOCTITE CORPORATION PRODUCTS.
EXCEPT FOR THE EXPRESS WARRANTY CONTAINED IN THIS SECTION, LOCTITE MAKES NO WARRANTY OF ANY KIND
WHATSOEVER, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, WITH RESPECT TO THE PRODUCTS.
ALL WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND OTHER WARRANTIES OF WHATEVER KIND
(INCLUDING AGAINST PATENT OR TRADEMARK INFRINGEMENT) ARE HEREBY DISCLAIMED BY LOCTITE AND WAIVED BY THE
PURCHASER.
