INTRODUCTION
GOLDMUND MYTHOS 2 Analog Acoustic Processor
Goldmund was founded in 1978 and has ever since been dedicated to the accurate reproduction of
sound and image.

The guiding principle at Goldmund is to produce a precise sound with the latest possible loss of

mainstream technologies and developed its own.

This high quality processor possesses new
technical features like high bandwidth and
ultra-high dynamic capability which are or will
become necessary for an accurate processing
of today’s best analog messages.
Only careful installation and use can provide
the satisfaction you are expecting.
The installation instructions must be carried
out in full and the mentioned precautions taken
to get the expected result and to avoid
impairing performance.
Some components within Goldmund products
take a considerable time to reach optimum
performance temperature. They are designed
to be powered on at all times.
If power is to be switched off, ALWAYS
switch OFF the MYTHOS 2 after turning the
amplifier off first

1.1 UNPACKING
You will find in the GOLDMUND MYTHOS 2 box:
- The Processor
- The power cord
- This manual
ATTENTION
Please keep the packaging in case you need to transport the MYTHOS 2 at a later date or
if you have to send it for maintenance.
This packaging has been designed specifically to protect the MYTHOS 2 in transit. Use of
alternative packaging is likely to result in damage, invalidating warranty cover.
For exacting technicians, musicians, and all amateurs who demand the very best in
reproduction, we strongly recommend the use of a top quality analog preamplifier and
power amplifier.
Considering the extreme performance of the MYTHOS 2 analog processor, the connection
between the components is also very critical. Use ultra-low reflection interconnect cables
for the preamplifier and amplifier connections. In all cases, Goldmund recommends using
the Goldmund Lineal Interconnect cables.

1.2 CHOICE OF ANALOG ACOUSTIC PROCESSOR LOCATION &
COOLING
Select a very rigid support for your processor.
Position the processor as far away as possible from the speakers if you want to totally
avoid the vibrations to alter its performance.
The distance between the preamplifier and the MYTHOS 2 is usually not critical. However,
even if you use the best interconnect between the MYTHOS 2, the amplifier and the
preamplifier, a short distance is recommended.
If you want to achieve the best possible sonic result, select a position on a shelf or on a
piece of furniture where the converter is isolated from vibrations of mechanical
components.
You must also be careful to locate your MYTHOS 2 in a very well ventilated location. When
powered on, the MYTHOS 2, as all high quality electronic equipment, generates a
significant amount of heat which has to be evacuated by natural ventilation.
For the same reason, it is perfectly normal that, after few hours of operation, your MYTHOS
2 gets quite hot.
1.3 POWER SUPPLY
The Goldmund MYTHOS 2 analog processor uses a power supply developed by Goldmund
to provide totally separate voltage to each part of the analog circuitry.
Your power supply unit has been set to operate with the mains voltage of your area. Check
on the power supply voltage switch if there is any doubt. If you move after purchasing the
MYTHOS 2 to an area using a different AC mains voltage, you can change the voltage by
yourself or consult your local Goldmund dealer for assistance.

The voltage selector on the rear panel allows voltage selection between 230V and 115V.
The power supply unit can operate indifferently with both 50 and 60 Hz AC line.
NOTE
Some components within Goldmund products take a considerable time to reach optimum
performance temperature. They are designed to be powered on at all times.
We recommend to leave the MYTHOS 2 powered on – its consumption is very low
and the long-term performance will be greatly enhanced.

2 FIRST INSTALLATION & CONNECTIONS
2.1 POWER CONNECTION
Plug the AC power cord to the power supply and in a wall socket.
The processor is powered by pressing the power switch located on the rear panel. For best
sonic results, Goldmund recommends to leave the processor powered on permanently.
When turned ON, the unit accomplishes a self test run by its internal
software. A software routine successively tests the circuits inside the
machine.
2.2 POWER CONNECTION
Connect the analog preamplifier outputs to the back panel digital inputs of the Goldmund
MYTHOS 2.
When the input source is connected, connect the analog output RCA jacks to the analog
amplifier input using a high quality analog interconnect such as Goldmund Lineal
Interconnect.
2.3 AMPLIFIER CONNECTION
Connect one pair of power amplifiers to the first pair of analog inputs.

2.4 PROCESSOR FUNCTIONS
The MYTHOS 2 can achieve several types of signal acoustic processing. It may be used
as:
- Electronic crossover for up to four separate ways (4 pairs of power amplifiers, each
receiving one part of the spectrum).
- Leonardo Processor for the Epilogue speakers correcting the time response of the
crossover.
- Acoustic Room Processor to remove typical room resonance.
- Proteus Installation (see separate documentation)
All these functions are available by downloading the corresponding software from our
website (www.goldmund.com
). Consult your Goldmund authorized retailer for assistance.
3 CLEANING
Always disconnect the power cord from the wall socket before cleaning your processor.
To clean the metal of the processor, always use a very soft cloth to avoid scratching the
surface. Use a soft cloth slightly damp for standard maintenance.
