4 Product Description
4.1 Use for the intended purpose
•The Lippe IV slatted frame, hereafter referred to as the slatted frame/bed, is a comfort-
able solution for positioning and facilitating the care of frail persons in need of care in
homes for the elderly or nursing homes. Furthermore, it was developed as a supporting
solution for home care, for infirm, disabled or frail persons. It is designed to support this
care.
•This instruction manual is intended as a reference work on the safe handling of the
product for both private purchasers and commercial operators. It contains information
on operating, servicing and caring for the slatted frame and instructs the customer of
potential dangers through inappropriate use.
•The use of the slatted frame in hospitals is only permitted in rooms designed for medi-
cal treatment of the application group 0 (in accordance with DIN VDE 0107).
•Further details on the permissible use environment are given in the chapter Part A: Am-
bient conditions »11. Further information on possible electromagnetic influences is
given in the chapter Part A: Information on electromagnetic compatibility
(EMC) »14.
•This slatted frame has no special connectors for potential equalisation. Please pay at-
tention to this before connecting additional mains-operated (medical) electrical equip-
ment.
If necessary, further advice on additional protective measures can be found:
⁃In the instruction manuals of these additional mains-operated electrical devices
(e.g. compressed air positioning systems, infusion pumps, enteral feeding devi-
ces, etc.)
⁃In the DIN EN 60601-1-1 standard (Safety of Medical Electrical Systems)
⁃In the current issue of the VDE 0107 standard (High-voltage Installations in Hos-
pitals)
•This slatted frame may be operated without restrictions with a permanent maximum
load of 200 kg (resident and accessories).
•This slatted frame must only be used as a slatted frame for a single bed.
•The permitted weight of the resident depends on the total weight of accessories attach-
ed at any time (e.g. respirators, infusions,…)
