The
following
step-by-step
instructions
show you
how
to
connect
the
Amiga
Memory
Expansion
Cartridge
to
the
Amiga
and
make
sure
everything is working
properly.
This
cartridge
lets you
add
256K
bytes
of
RAM
to
the
Amiga.
1.
Turn
off
the
Amiga.
2. Put
the
Amiga
keyboard
out
of
the
way.
If
you like, slide it
under
the
main
unit
so
that
you
can
easily
reach
the
front
panel
of
the
Amiga. You will
be
connecting
the
memory
expansion
cartridge
to
the
connector
plug
inside
the
central
portion
of
this
panel.

To
remove
the
cover
of
the

portion
of
the
front

panel,
grasp it with your
thumb
on
top
and
your
three
middle
fingers below.
Gently
squeeze
as you
pull
the
panel
out.

Look
at
the
plug
connector
that
extends
from
the
central
portion
of
the
Amiga.
It's
a
narrow
strip
consisting
of
30 gold
contacts
on
the
top
and
bottom
and
a silver
metal
bracket
on
either
side.
Do
not
touch
this
connector.
Remove
static
charge
from
yourself
before
handling
the
cartridge,
by
carefully
touching
one
of
the
silver
metal
brackets
with
your
finger.

5.
Put
one
hand
on
the
back
panel
of
the
Amiga
to
steady
it.
With
the
other
hand,
slowly
and
firmly
push
the
left
corner
of
the
socket
connector
of
the
display
cartridge
over
the
left
corner
of
the
plug
connector
.
Then
place
all
the
fingers
of
your
other
hand
under
the
central
portion
of
the
front
panel,
and
with
the
base
of
that
hand,
firmly
press
the
cartridge
until
it
seats
completely
.
6.
Tighten
the
screws
on
the
cartridge
with a
small
Phillips
screwdriver.
Do
not
overtighten
the
screws
.

7.
Replace
the
cover
of
the
front
central
panel
of
the
Amiga.
8.
Turn
the
Amiga
back
on.
You
should
now
be
able to use
application
programs
that
require
512K
of
memory.
If
the
unit
doesn't
seem
to work,
turn
off
the
Amiga,
remove
the
cartridge gently
but
firmly
and
try
the
procedure
again.
If you still
have
trouble,
try this:
With
the
power
off,
remove
the
cartridge
from
the
plug
connector
in
the
main
unit.
Check
both
sides of
the
connector
for signs of
corrosion.
If
you find
any,
take
a
pencil
eraser
and
polish
the
connector
until
it's
bright.
Brush
any
eraser
dust
off
the
Amiga,
and
repeat
steps
1-8.
