Mostaccidentsorinjuriesthatoccurinworkshopsaretheresultofnon--observanceofsimpleandfundamentalsafety
regulations.
Forthisreason,INMOSTCASESTHESEACCIDENTSCANBEAVOIDED:byforeseeingpossiblecausesandcon-
sequentlyactingwiththenecessarycautionandcare.
Accidentsmayoccurwithalltypesofvehicle,regardlessofhowwellitwasdesignedandbuilt.
Acarefulandjudiciousservicetechnicianisthebestguaranteeagainstaccidents.
Preciseobservanceofthemostbasicsafetyruleisnormallysufcienttoavoidmanyseriousaccidents.
DANGER:Nevercarryoutanycleaning,lubricationormaintenanceoperationswhentheengineisrunning.
GENERAL
•
Carefullyfollowspeciedrepairandmaintenanceprocedures.
•
Donotwearrings,wristwatches,jewellery,unbuttonedorloosearticlesofclothingsuchas:ties,tornclothing,
scarves,openjacketsorshirtswithopenzipsthatmayremainentangledinmovingparts.
Itisadvisedtowearapprovedsafetyclothing,e.g:non--slipfootwear,gloves,safetygoggles,helmets,etc.

Donotcarryoutrepairoperationswithsomeonesittinginthedriver’sseat,unlessthepersonisatrainedtechnician
whoisassistingwiththeoperationinquestion.
•
Operatethevehicleandusetheimplementsexclusivelyfromthedriver’sseat.
•
Donotcarryoutoperationsonthevehiclewiththeenginerunning,unlessspecicallyindicated.
•
Stoptheengineandensurethatallpressureisrelievedfromhydrauliccircuitsbeforeremovingcaps,covers,valves,
etc.
•
Allrepairandmaintenanceoperationsmustbecarriedoutusingextremecareandattention.
•
Servicestepsandplatformsusedinaworkshoporintheeldshouldbebuiltincompliancewiththesafetyrulesin
force.
•
Disconnectthebatteriesandlabelallcontrolstoindicatethatthevehicleisbeingserviced.Blockthemachineand
allequipmentwhichshouldberaised.
•
Donotcheckorllfueltanks,accumulatorbatteries,norusestartingliquidwhensmokingornearnakedames,
astheseuidsareinammable.
•
Brakesareinoperativeifmanuallyreleasedforrepairormaintenancepurposes.
Insuchcases,themachineshouldbekeptconstantlyundercontrolusingblocksorsimilardevices.
•
Thefuelnozzleshouldalwaysbeincontactwiththellingaperture.Maintainthispositionuntilllingoperations
arecompletedinordertoavoidpossiblesparkscausedbytheaccumulationofstaticelectricity.
•
Onlyusespeciedtowingpointsfortowingthetractor,connectpartscarefully.Makesurethatallpinsand/orlocks
aresecuredinpositionbeforeapplyingtraction.
Neverremainnearthetowingbars,cablesorchainsthatareoperatingunderload
•
Transportvehiclesthatcannotbedrivenusingatraileroralow--loadingplatformtrolley,ifavailable.
•
Whenloadingorunloadingthevehiclefromthetrailer(orothermeansoftransport),selectaatareacapable
ofsustainingthetrailerortruckwheels,rmlysecurethetractortothetruckortrailerandlockthewheelsinthe
position.
•
Electricheaters,battery--chargersandsimilarequipmentmustonlybepoweredbyauxiliarypowersupplieswith
efcientgroundinsulationtoavoidelectricalshockhazards.
•
Alwaysusesuitablehoistingorliftingdeviceswhenraisingormovingheavyparts.
•
Takeextracareifbystandersarepresent.
•
Neverpourgasolineordieseloilintoopen,wideandlowcontainers.
•
Neverusegasoline,dieseloilorotherinammableliquidsascleaningagents.Usenon-ammablenon-toxicpro-
prietarysolvents.
•
Wearsafetygoggleswithsideguardswhencleaningpartswithcompressedair.
•
Limittheairpressuretoamaximumof2.1bar(30.5psi),accordingtolocalregulations.
