1 Getting Started with the Callaway uPro
1.1 Callaway uPro Overview
This section provides a brief overview of the location and functionality of the inputs and outputs you will
use to enable the full capability of your uPro.
1.1.1 Button Layout

1.1.2 Button Descriptions
Power/Menu Button - This button is used is used to power on and off the device when held for at least
three seconds. It is also used to get to the settings menu while playing a hole. While in any of the menus,
this button can be used to go back to the previous menu.
Directional Buttons - The uPro has four directional buttons (left, right, up and down).
Select/Enter Button - The center select/enter button is used to select or choose from a menu.
Left and Right LCD Select Buttons - The left and right LCD select buttons perform the function indicated
just above the buttons on the display.
ProMode™ Button - The ProMode button takes you in and out of ProMode during play, if the Pro version
of the course has been downloaded.
VR Button - The VR button is currently only used while in Preview Mode. In this mode, pressing the VR
button changes the current simulated user location to the next demo user location for that hole when
simulating play.
1.1.3 Other Inputs and Outputs
LEDs - The uPro has two LEDs, red and blue, that are used to provide status indications. The blue LED
flashes when the uPro is in normal operation. The red LED indicates that the device is charging. A flashing
red LED indicates that charging is complete.
Note: The red LED will not flash when charging is complete if the uPro is powered on. Please see
section 1.3 Charging the Callaway uPro for more information on charging.
Mini-USB Connector - The USB connector is used to connect the device to the uPro website for course
downloads and updates. It is also used to charge the battery within the device.
Headphone Jack - The uPro contains a small, 2.5mm headphone jack that allows connection of stereo or
mono headphones.
Microphone - The uPro contains a microphone that will allow expanded features in the future.

1.2 System Requirements
Prior to registering your uPro via the Internet, please verify that your computer system meets the following
requirements:
- Operating System: Windows 2000/XP/Vista or Mac OS 10.4 and above
- Browser: Internet Explorer 6.0 or greater, Firefox 1.5 or greater, Safari 3.0.4 or greater
- USB 1.1 or 2.0 Port
- System Memory: 512 MB of RAM
- Hard Disk Space: 1GB of free space
- Internet Connection: DSL, Cable, Satellite or faster

1.3 Charging the Callaway uPro
Prior to operating your uPro the battery must be fully charged. Follow these steps to charge the battery:
1) Remove the battery cover on the uPro. While pressing the upper center portion of the battery cover
firmly, slide the battery cover down.

2) Insert the Li-Ion rechargeable battery into the battery compartment. Angle the battery such that the
bottom edge with the three contacts makes contact with connector on the uPro first and then push
the top side of the battery into place. The text on the battery should be face up and readable.
3) Replace the battery cover.
4) Insert the mini-USB connector of the included USB cable into the USB connector on the uPro.
5) Connect the larger end of the USB cable to the included wall adapter.
6) Plug the wall charger into an AC wall outlet. The uPro’s red LED will be lit while charging. This
LED will begin to flash when charging is completed. Charging the battery completely takes
approximately 3 hours.

Note: There are times when the uPro’s red LED will not flash when charging is complete. If this red
LED is on (indicating charging) and has been on for several hours, then the charging is
complete. This can be confirmed by removing the USB cable then the battery and then
reinserting the battery and then the USB cable. The red LED should then flash if fully charged.
1.4 Connecting your Callaway uPro
In order to use your uPro on the course, you will need to register the uPro online. To begin the registration
process you will need to connect your uPro and launch the sync program. Below are instructions on
connecting your uPro and launching the sync program.
STEP 1: Power on the uPro
Press and hold the power button for 3 seconds to power on the uPro.
STEP 2: Connect to a computer
Once the Main Menu is displayed on the uPro (figure 3), connect the USB cable to the uPro. Insert the
mini-USB connector (smaller connector on the cable) into the USB connector on the uPro. Insert the other
end of the USB cable into an available USB port on the computer.

IMPORTANT: Make sure that the uPro is powered on and the LCD screen displays a
message stating “USB Connected” and “Connected to Host…” several seconds after
connecting to the PC. Figure 4

STEP 3a: uPro Sync Autorun (Windows Only)
Once connected, the program launcher will automatically start. The uPro Sync program should be already
highlighted as shown in Figure 5. Clicking “OK” will start the Sync program and the uPro website login
page will launch.

Note: Windows Vista users may be given the option to “scan and fix” their uPro device. Continue
with the scanning process using the default options, until the program launcher starts and you
see the uPro icon.
Step 3b: uPro Finder
If the program launcher and website do not launch upon connection of the uPro, please visit our first time
user page at www.uprogps/firsttimeuser . You will find a download called, uPro Finder. Click "Download"
You will be given the option to either "Save" or "Run" We recommend you save the uPro Finder to your
desktop for future use. If you don't want to save it click "Run".
Save Instruction
1. Click "Save"
2. At the top of the "Save As" window, there will be a drop down box labeled " Save
In". Select your desktop. Click "Save" in the bottom right hand corner.
3. Go to your desktop and double click the "uPro" icon.
4. This will locate your uPro and launch the sync program and website.
Run Instructions
1. Click "Run"
2. This will run the uPro Finder from the website and locate your uPro and launch the
sync program and website.
If you have chosen to save the uPro Finder to your desktop, in the future once you connect your uPro, can
you just double click the uPro icon and it will launch the sync program and website.
STEP 3c: uPro Sync Manual Launch (Windows XP and Vista Only) (Figure 6)
If the program launcher and website do not launch upon connection, the other option to launch the sync
program, is manually from the uPro by going to My Computer. From the Windows Start Menu, click “My
Computer” on the PC, double click the uPro device icon to open it, and then double click the “uPro”
application from the “sync” folder to run it. You can also right click on the uPro device icon and click Sync
uPro Device.

STEP 3d: uPro Sync Launch (Windows 2000 Only) (Figure 7)
Windows 2000 will not automatically run the Sync program upon connection of the uPro. You can launch
the sync program directly from the device. Windows 2000 users need to navigate to “My Computer” on the
PC, double click the “Removable Disk” to open the uPro, and then double click the “uPro” application from
the “sync” folder to run it.

STEP 3e: uPro Sync Launch (Macintosh Only)
Macintosh users will double click to open the uPro device once it appears on the Desktop, and then double
click the “MacSync” program located on the uPro. This will launch the sync program and website.

STEP 4: uPro Sync Running
Once the Sync program has started a dialog box as shown in Figure 9 will appear. It will begin by stating
“Initializing”. From here it will launch the website and you are ready to register your uPro.

1.5 Registering your uPro
uPro Registration
Once the uPro application has started it will launch the uPro website and take you to step 1 of 4 to
complete registration. After the registration is complete you will be able to purchase and download
courses.
Step 1: Choose Your Country
Select the country that you live in. Once you complete registration, each time you log in your
account will be in the correct country.
Step 2: Complete Your Profile
Here you will enter your contact information and select a unique user name and password. Your
username and password should be something that you can remember and is familiar to you. User
names may not contain any spaces. Once completed click next step.
Step 3: Home Course Selection
You will be given a list of courses that are within 45 miles of your registration address.
Please select the course that you play most often as your home course, by clicking
"Select".
My Home Course Is Already Available For Download
If your home course is available for download in ProMode you will be prompted with
the option to use your 3 free credits that came with your uPro towards your home
Course. If you would like to use these credits towards your home course, click
. If you would rather use these credits towards another course, click
OK. This will only set your home course as a preference. If you decide later to
download your home course, you can locate it using the course finder.
My Home Course is Not Available for Download
If your home course is not available for download in ProMode, we will submit a
request to have your home course mapped. Because this is your home course, we
will generally be able to map your home course within a week. If we are not able to

map your course in ProMode, we will notify you via e-mail. Feel free to use the 3
credits that came with your uPro for any course that is mapped and available in
ProMode.
Note: You will still need to sync your uPro for your home course to be added to your uPro.
Step 4: Download the uPro Finder
If you haven't already downloaded the uPro Finder, we recommend that you do now. You
can use the uPro Finder in the future to locate your uPro and launch the sync program and
website.
Registration Complete
Your registration is now complete. You can now Buy Credits to download ProMode courses
or Find Courses.

1.6 Purchasing Credits, Finding and Buying Courses
1.6.1 Purchasing Credits
Once your uPro has been registered you will have the ability to purchase course credits and download
courses. To download courses in ProMode, you will need to purchase course credits. For each course that
you purchase, you will receive 3 credits. Course credit pricing is as follows:

You can purchase course credits by clicking "Purchase Credits" in the left side navigation in your uPro
account. Select the package of course credits that you would like to purchase. Once you have purchased
the credits they are always yours. They will never expire and you can use them any time you would like, for
any course available in our database.
Once you have completed your purchase, you will see the number of credits you have available in the
bottom left hand corner of your user account.
1.6.2 Finding and Buying Courses
Each and every course on the uPro website has been professionally mapped by Callaway Golf employees.
You can search the database of thousands of courses by using the Course Finder feature on the website.
Courses that are purchased are maintained on our servers so that you can download or update your
courses from nearly any computer.

You can find purchase courses without having your uPro connected. However, you must have your uPro
connected to the computer to be able to download the courses you have purchased.
The following section gives step-by-step instructions on the process of downloading courses.
STEP 1: Login to Your uPro Account
If you have just finished registering your uPro you should already be logged in and your uPro should be
properly connected. If you are not logged in, please use your selected username and password to log in on
the left side navigation panel. Once logged in, please verify that your uPro is connected to the website
correctly. If your uPro is connected properly it will say connected on the uPro Home page. If your uPro is
not connected it will say not connected on the uPro Home page. If your uPro is not connected, click the Not
Connected button and follow the instructions to run the uPro Finder. This will locate the uPro that is
connected to your computer and launch the website.
IMPORTANT: Make sure that the uPro website is brought up in a web browser by the Sync
program otherwise you will not be able to download courses to your uPro.
If you have not registered your uPro, please follow the instructions in Section 1.4 and 1.5 on connecting
and registering your uPro.

STEP 2: Search For Courses
Go to the course finder by clicking Find Courses in the left side navigational panel.
You will be taken to the course finder screen as shown in Figure 11.

Using the uPro Course Finder you can search for courses based on a wide variety of terms (city, state, zip
code, name, etc.). Complete at least one field to start your search. If you are looking for a specific course,
it's suggested that you enter at least the course name and state to narrow your results. Once you've
entered your search criteria click "Search"

Courses that are already mapped and available for download will be listed with a “Buy Now” or "Free"
button. For ProMode courses the number of credits needed is listed within the buy button. Most courses
are 3 credits, with few exceptions for 9 hole facilities or driving ranges. Courses that are not yet available
will show a “Request” button that will allow you to request that course when clicked.

Note: If you are only seeing check marks and Request buttons, you are not logged in. You must be
logged into your uPro account to purchase and download courses.
STEP 4: Purchasing a Course
When you see a course that is available and that you would like to purchase, click the “Buy Now” button.

A popup window will appear in which you will click “Use Credits" to complete the purchase of the selected
course. This course will automatically be added to your playlist and is ready to be sync'd to your uPro.
Once you have completed the purchase, you will be returned to your current search results to continue to
search and buy courses. If you would like to download Basic Mode, click the Free button for that course.
All Basic Mode downloads are free.
Once you have finished buying your courses, click my uPro from the left side navigation.
Note: Once you purchase a ProMode course, you won't need to download the Basic Mode version.
ProMode contains all of the Basic Mode data as well as the aerial imagery.
1.7 Syncing your Callaway uPro
Once you are ready to sync, go to the My uPro page. You can access this page, by clicking My uPro in the
left side navigation. Once you are on this page, you can manage the courses that you want on your uPro.
What's on the My uPro Page
On My uPro - condensed list of courses that are currently on your uPro, being added,
removed, or updated.
Sync Summary - overview of what is planned to be synced. Shows how many courses are being
added, removed, or updated.
My Course List - full list of all courses in your uPro library. It indicates if the course is
currently on your uPro, being added, removed, or updated.
What the colors mean:
Green - course is being added
Blue - course is being updated
Red - course is being removed
Gray - course is already on my uPro or is not on my uPro.
Note: Any course that you just purchased is going to already be added to your "On My uPro" list and
your "Sync Summary"

Adding Courses to your On My uPro List
Once you purchase a course it is automatically added to your current playlist. But if a course is not on
your uPro, click the Add to uPro button. The course in your My Courses and On My uPro lists will now be
highlighted.
Removing Courses from your uPro
If you no longer want a course on your uPro, simply click the X located next to the course in your "On My
uPro" list. Once you click the X the course will be highlighted red in your On My uPro and My Course List.
If you change your mind about removing the course, click the X again to clear the removing status.
