New features and changes
New features and changes
Iomega StorCenter version 3.2.3 contains the following new features:
Configuration Backup and Restore
The Iomega StorCenter now supports Configuration Backup and Restore, which
allows you to back up and restore system configuration information. Backing up a
configuration saves various system properties, including users, groups, device
identification, and Share names and permissions.
Scheduled Power
The Iomega StorCenter now supports Scheduled Power. You can create a power
schedule to turn your Iomega StorCenter on and off. Scheduled Power can be
one-time events, or recurring events. When you create a power schedule, you can
set the day and time to power down the device. You can also set power on times.
This is supported on px12-350r (ix12), px4-300r, px4-300d, and px6-300d only.
Wake on LAN
The Iomega StorCenter now supports Wake on LAN. Wake On LAN powers on
your Iomega StorCenter when a specific signal is sent over the network.
This is supported on px12-350r (ix12), px4-300r, px4-300d, and px6-300d only.
Encrypted File System
The Iomega StorCenter now features an encrypted file system. This feature allows
you to create an encrypted volume with an assigned password; thus securing the
data on the encrypted volume. Data on the encrypted volume is only accessible
when using the assigned password.
This is only available on PX devices and ix12.
SMART Monitor
SMART Monitor continually monitors and reports on the health of all drives in the
Iomega StorCenter system.
Partner Application Download
Iomega StorCenter now supports download and installation of partnered
third-party applications. These add-on applications extend the functionality and
flexibility of your StorCenter.
Video Surveillance Enhancements - Bosch Camera & Resolution Settings
Iomega StorCenter now features configurable resolution settings and parameters
for Bosch camera support.

Environment and system requirements
Video surveillance environment and system requirements
The following are the LifeLine Native Video surveillance requirements:
Support statements
The LifeLine video surveillance feature supports UPnP (universal plug and
play) network cameras made by AXIS and Panasonic. Cameras from other
manufacturers can record to a Share. Video surveillance only supports wired
cameras at this time.
The recording segment is a maximum of:
5 minutes for LifeLine devices
15 minutes for virtual machines
Note that for each video file, there is a 30-second overlap. In other words, in
concurrent video files, the first 30 seconds of each new file will be the same as
the last 30 seconds of the preceding file.
A new video file is created for each recording segment. The number of video
files is limited only by the storage capacity of the StorCenter device.
The camera settings cannot be changed during the video streaming process.
Each Iomega StorCenter device supports a different number of video cameras.
The model and corresponding number of cameras is shown in Table 2.
Recommended MPEG-4 player 3731
The Iomega StorCenter video surveillance movies are encoded as MPEG-4, a
format that is incompatible with supplied video players on Windows, Mac, and
Linux. To view the output videos from the video surveillance feature, you must
install an MPEG-4 compatible player. A recommended version is the VLC player.
VLC players are free and available from a variety of sources on the internet. VLC is
not required to view live video from a camera.

Configuration issues
When a firewall is configured, cannot discover Iomega StorCenter device 1814 1448
Description: The Iomega StorCenter device cannot be discovered using the Iomega
StorCenter Manager, possibly due to a firewall configuration.

Workaround: When you fail to find a Iomega StorCenter device on the network
using the Iomega StorCenter Manager, it is recommended that you check if the
Iomega StorCenter Manager software is being blocked by an existing firewall. If
you have a firewall and during the Iomega StorCenter device setup the firewall
opens a dialog presenting access options, you must choose Allow access. As a
workaround, if the firewall can be configured to allow access to specific
applications or ports, it is recommended to configure a rule that allows access on
local UDP port 2152 for the whole application.
