Quick Reference Guide
Has the right operating mode been selected?
Press the button to switch between the different operating
modes. The selected operating mode is indicated by a bar
below the respective symbol.
Automatic mode
Automatic mode controls the room temperature according to
the time program.
Continuous operation or
Continuous operation maintains the room temperature at the
selected operating level.
Heating to the Comfort setpoint
Heating to the Reduced setpoint
Protection K
In Protection mode, the heating system is off, but protected against
frost (frost protection temperature).
DHW mode
DHW is heated according to the selected mode.
Are you too warm or too cold?
Settings:
1. Turn the setting knob to increase or decrease the Comfort
setpoint . Confirm the setting with the operating mode
button.
2. For the reduced setpoint , press OK, select operating
page Heating circuit and adjust the “Reduced setpoint.
Tip: Each time you make a readjustment, wait at least 2 hours,
allowing the room temperature to adapt.
Will you leave the rooms for some
time?
If you do not use the rooms for a longer period of time, you can
press the occupancy button to reduce the room temperature, thus
saving heating energy.

users.
The unit is operated using the AVS37
operator unit or can also be operated
with the QAA55 room unit as an option.

The unit is an integral part of the
heat pump
Only qualified technicians
authorized by ELCO are permitted
to remove or rewire the
AEROTOP T and AQUATOP T.
Air circulation around the unit
must be ensured, allowing the unit
to emit the heat produced by it.
The controller may not be
exposed to dripping water.

Regulations and Mounting
Operator unit AVS37
The operator unit is integrated into a
specially designed housing and clicks
into place as shown.
The installation location of the housing
varies depending on the type of heat
pump:
Installation in AQUATOP T
AQUATOP T: The operator unit with
housing is permanently mounted on
the heat pump and wired in the factory.
Installation in AEROTOP T
The operator unit and housing are
packed separately and delivered with
the heat pump.
Indoor installation AEROTOP T
When the AEROTOP T heat pump is
installed indoors, the operator unit is
clicked into place in the opening in the
front panel cut out for this purpose.
Outdoor installation AEROTOP T
When the AEROTOP T heat pump is
installed outdoors, the operator unit is
mounted inside the building on the wall
using the wall mounting plate (A) and
the cover plate (B) is clicked into place
on the heat pump.
The wall mounting plate and cover plate
are part of the outdoor installation set.

The operator unit is connected to
connector X30 on the base unit using
the connection cable.
The operator unit is connected to
terminals G+, CL-, and CL+ on the
base unit using an intermediate cable.

When the unit is removed from its
base, power is disconnected so
that the unit is out of operation.

main living room while giving
consideration to the following points:
The place of installation should be
chosen such that the sensor can
capture the room temperature as
accurately as possible without
getting adversely affected by direct
solar radiation or other heat or

1.5 meters above the floor)
In the case of wall mounting, there
must be sufficient clearance above
the unit, enabling it to be fitted and
removed
The controller may not be exposed

When using Protection, the heating system is off. But it
remains protected against frost (frost protection temperature),
provided there is no power failure.

The cooling button is used to select cooling mode. The choice

DHW heating
On
The DHW is heated according to the selected switching
program.
Off
No DHW heating, but the protective function is active.
DHW push
To do this, keep the DHW operating mode button on the
operator or room unit depressed for at least 3 seconds.
The DHW push can also be started when:
The operating mode is “Off“
Operating mode changeover acts via H1 or centrally
(LPB)
All heating circuits have assumed the holiday mode
Turn the setting knob to increase or decrease the Comfort
setpoint and confirm with the OK button. When heating
mode is active, you can change the Comfort setpoint of
heating; when cooling mode is active, the Comfort setpoint of
cooling can be changed.
For the Reduced setpoint
- Press the OK button
- Select operating page “Heating circuit“ and
Adjust the “Reduced“ setpoint
Each time you make a readjustment, wait at least 2 hours,
allowing the room temperature to adapt.
The Reduced setpoint can only be set for heating mode. In
cooling mode, there is only one setpoint, the Comfort setpoint.
If the rooms are not used for a certain time during the Comfort
period, you can press the occupancy button to lower the room
temperature, thus saving heating energy (changeover from
Comfort to Reduced setpoint).
When the rooms are occupied again, press again the
occupancy button to return to normal heating (changeover
from Reduced setpoint to Comfort setpoint).

Manual defrosting / reset
Manual defrosting
Reset functions
The RESET button triggers various functions, depending on
the period of time the button is kept depressed.
Pressing the button for more than 3 seconds triggers manual
defrosting.
Pressing the button for less than 3 seconds triggers a reset.
If an air-to-water heat pump is used, the defrost function for
the evaporator can be triggered manually.
After successful defrosting or on completion of the maximum
permissible defrost time and after the permitted number of
defrost attempts, the heat pump will automatically be released
again.
The RESET button is used to jointly reset pending heat pump
error messages, meters and other resettable parameters. This
bridges the preset switch-on delay in the event of fault, thus
avoiding waiting times during commissioning or fault tracing.
This function should not be used in normal operation.
The reset function for individual parameters appears on the
bottom line of the display, provided a reset is permitted on the
current operating line (enduser / commissioning / heating
engineer).
After activation with the OK button,
the display shows a flashing “Yes“.
After confirmation with the OK button,
the relevant parameter or meter will
be reset.

Programming
Introduction to the settings
Settings that cannot be adjusted directly
using the operator panel are adjusted
or set in a program.
For this purpose, the individual
settings are grouped in operating
pages and operating lines according
to their purpose.
