Thank you for purchasing ACTi products. The following documentation covers the
installation and configuration of your device.
NOTE: The accuracy of the analytics algorithm may be affected by different
environmental factors or inappropriate installation. Please follow the
procedures in this guide. ACTi will not be held liable for inaccuracies resulting
from the aforesaid causes.
Installation Specifications
Installation Scenario
The accuracy rate of face recognition greatly involves the installation location,
ambient light (such as too dark, too bright) and so on. In order to ensure to get the
best results, below are some installation suggestions:
Installation position should be a standard passageway or entrance or exit ways with
a particular direction of traffic.
Choose a stable lighting condition with adequate illumination. Light compensation is
necessary to ensure the facial features are visible under the condition of insufficient
light or backlight.

Installation Height Requirements
1. The camera should be installed in front of the passageway where it can
capture the face. The horizontal tilt angle of the camera must be less than
<25 °.
2. The camera installation must be elevated. This is to avoid the situation where
a face is obscured by the person in front of him in case they go through the
passageway closely one after the other. The vertical elevation angle should
be within: α=15±5°.
3. The covered Pupil Distance (PD) pixels must be greater than 40 pixels to
distinguish the face details from the captured image. The practical width of
detection area should be less than or equal to 3 meters with a 2MP camera.

4. Make sure that there is no obstruction between the camera lens and the
passageway.

Device Configuration
Part 1: Set up the Metadata Generator Box
1. Open on the desktop of the metadata generator box, in this case,
MGB-103, as an example.
2. Click (1) to enter setup page to configure.
3. Click “Communication” and set the parameters as below. Then click the check
icon (2) to save.

4. Click “Add source” to add camera stream.
5. Click “Add access” to fill in camera info.

Take Q22 for example; fill in the camera IP, RTSP port, User name and
Password. There will be an RTSP URL being generated below, please copy or
note it down for later configuration. Click the check icon to save the change.
**NOTE: The camera name needs to be exactly the same as it is on ALS.
Please do pay attention when maintaining.
6. Select the camera and double click to add.

The live stream will show on the screen. If faces appear in front of the camera,
there will be detection records on the left. Set up is done on MGB-103 metadata
generator box.

4. Click the MGB Server to add MGB-103 as a new device
Click “Add new device” to maintain the device info
Select MGB-103

Fill in the device info of the camera.
Click “Save” to complete
The camera name should be exactly the same as it is
on MGB-103
Fill in the RTSP stream URL of the camera

5. Go to file explorer and enter below file route.
C:\Program Files (x86)\ACTi\MGB_Service
Right click the file “MGBService.exe.config” (XML Configuration File) and
edit with Notepad++.
Find the line “HertaApiConnIp” and fill in the IP address of MGB-103.
Then save the file.

Open Task Manager and restart the service “MGBService”.

6. Go back to Live Monitor page to verify the stream and face detection.
Check if the Live Monitor is streaming.
Check if the face detection data (Visitor) is feeding from MGB-103.

7. Enroll a face to verify the face recognition function.
Go to Face Enrollment
Click “Add” to enroll a new profile.

Upload pictures or select face pictures from the detected visitors to enroll.
MGB-103 also supports multiple face pictures enrollment.
**Note: The “Profile Picture” is only for displaying the recognition
result of the person. To enroll the modeling picture, please use the
“Face Image”. Also we recommend using the detected record to
enroll, for maximum accuracy.

Select the Group of the person.
Fill in the name and action note if needed and click
You can also maintain some more details on the second page.
When maintaining the data is done, click to complete
enrollment.
Go back to Live Monitor page, if the person enrolled walked through the
camera, the recognition will pop up and list on the right side. Set up is
done.
