Install and Update Drivers

Drivers provide a way for your operating system to communicate with your new hardware.

Update to the latest driver to ensure you have the latest performance and stability updates.

Check if drivers are currently installed

1. Click on the Apple Icon (

2. Click About this Mac

3. Click More Info

4. Click System Report

5. Select PCI Cards

The RS6318A should be listed as RocketRAID 4520 SAS Controller, and Driver Installed

should say Yes. (HighPoint Mac drivers are embedded for OSX 10.9 and later.)

Install/Update Drivers on existing operating systems

Drivers for RS6318A are already embedded in the latest Mac OSX (10.9 and later), and installing

drivers is unnecessary. If you previously uninstalled the drivers, or wish to update your current

drivers, follow the instructions below.

HighPoint Mac Drivers have file extension .dmg; make sure the file extension for the files you

downloaded are the same.

1. Obtain the latest driver online at product software download page:

2. Once downloaded, locate the folder you downloaded the driver to and double click on the

file named “HighPointIOP_Mac_###.dmg”Note: File name varies, but extension is .dmg.

3. The file will be mounted onto the operating system, click on HighPointIOP.pkglocated on

your desktop

4. Follow the on-screen instructions.

5. Reboot computer

6. Make sure Driver Installed isYes

After rebooting, check system report again to confirm you have the RocketRAID 4520 SAS

Controller installed.

Uninstall Drivers

To uninstall the drivers, follow the procedure below:

1. Double click on “HighPointIOP_Mac_106_####.dmg” Note: File name subject to change,

make sure extension is .dmg.

2. Double click on uninstall.command

3. A terminal window will pop up prompting you to type in your administrator password.

Type in your administrator password to uninstall.

4. Reboot

Note: The file is flagged as an unidentified developer file on OSX. In order to open, hold the

Control key + click the file, then click open. A system prompt will appear; read the prompt,

then click open.

Installing HighPoint WebGUI

HighPoint Web RAID Management Software (WebGUI) is used to monitor and configure your

hard disks and RAID arrays hosted by HighPoint RAID controllers and solutions.

The software package must be installed on the system that is hosting the HighPoint RAID

solution, and the device driver must be loaded to run the service. A web browser with XML

support is required on the client side, e.g. Internet Explorer, Mozilla, FireFox or Google’s

Chrome.

1. Locate the HighPoint WebGUI Setup on our website and download the file.

2. Double click and Extract the .dmg files from the archive.

3. Double click on “HighPoint RAID Management.pkg”.

4. Follow the on screen steps to install our software.

5. Log in the WebGUI by double clicking the desktop icon created or by typing

http://localhost:7402 in your preferred browsers address line (we recommend using the

latest version of your browser.)

6. Your default web browser will open and prompt for a username and password (Default

username: RAID / password: hpt). Note, the username and password are case-sensitive.

Uninstalling HighPoint RAID Management (WebGUI)

1. Navigate to /Applications/HPTWEBGUI/uninstall.

2. Click on the uninstall script.

3. Type in the Administrator password when prompted.

Quick Way to build RAID 5 Storage Array

1. Double-click the RAID management software ICON on the desktop to log into the

WebGUI.

2. Click on the Logical tab at top of the interface menu – this will display a list of

available drives (Physical Device Information). Make sure all installed drives are

properly detected.

Note:

Single or new (unused) drives will be labeled as Legacy disks. Legacy disks can be

used to create a new RAID array.

3. Click Create Array

Specify the RAID Level (RAID 5 or 6) using the Array Type drop-down menu. Next,

select Quick Init. from the Initialization Method drop-down menu. Leave all other

parameters at the Default setting, and click the Create button to create the array.

Note:

Quick Initialization is the best option for creating arrays with new or unused drives.

4. Once the array has been created, a new device should be displayed under

Logical Device Information. OS X will detect the RAID array and display the

following message:

5. Click the Initialize button to run Disk Utility. Use the Erase button and name the new

disk volume.

6. After the array has been erased, the new RAID volume will be detected by the

Mac system, and be accessible via the desktop icon.
