1. DoubleclickontheRPicononyourdesktop
2. ThefirstboxtellsyoutheversionofElkRPsoftwareyouhave.
3. ThenextscreenistheAccountsFoldermainpage.Allofyouraccountsandfolderswithaccountswillbe
displayed.Youcanmakeanaccountandhaveitsavedinaspecificfolder.
NewAccount
1. Gotofileandleftclickonthemouse.
2. SelectNewAccountinthedropdownbox.
3. Anewboxwillcomeuptofillouttheinformationforthenewaccount.
4. Youwillneedtofillallthefieldssuchas:
a. AccountID
b. SerialNumber
c. RPAccessCode(default246801)
d. Checkdefaultaccountorcopyfromanotheraccount.PleasecheckDefaultpanel.
5. AfteryouclickonOKyouwillnowbeattheAccountDetailsScreen.
AccountDetails
1. Theaccountdetailswillprovideinformationabouttheclientaswellasthepanel.
2. Youcanfillinthepersonalinformationoftheclientandaddnotestorememberifthereisaspecialrulenot
todelete.
3. Ontherightsideofthescreenaredetailsonthepanelforinstance:
a. BootVersion
b. FirmwareVersion
c. DateInstalled
d. RPAccessCode
4. AlsolookattheM1XEPbutton.YouwouldclickonthisbuttontofindandsetuptheElkM1XEP.
5. Onthelefthandsideofthescreenisthedifferentcategorytree.Youcanselectanycategorytoexpandthe
treeandmakechanges.
ConnectingtotheControlPanel
1. ClickonSetupinthemenubaratthetopofthescreen.
2. IntheboxselectCommunications.
3. Selecttheserialporttousefordirectconnections.
4. ClickonOK
5. ClicktheConnectionbuttoninthetoolbarandselectDirectusingyourcomport.
6. Thesystemshouldnowconnecttothecontrol,theRPsoftwarewillshowwhenitisconnectedinthelower
righthandpartofthescreen(GreenLight).
7. AlsouponconnectingyoumaynoticetheConflictResolutionboxshowinthelowerpartofthescreen
(Bottomofscreeninyellow).
Send/Receive
1. Onewaytoresolveconflictsistosendorreceivealltheinformationandintothepanel.
2. AtthetopofthescreenclickontheSend/Receivebutton.
3. IntheboxselectReceiveAllbutton.Thiswillsendalltheinformationfrom
NewUser
1. Leftclickonuseronthetreetotheleftofthescreen.Thiswillshowyoualloftheusersinthedefaultpanel
whichwillbeUser1.
2. RightclickonUsersatthetoptomakeanewuser.ThiswillbringupanewboxandselectNewUser.
3. Thenextboxwillaskyouhowmanyuserstomakeandwhatnumbertostart.Itwilldefaulttothenext
availableslot.
4. Thelastboxwillaskyouifyouwouldliketocopysettingsfromauserorusecustomvalues.
5. Nowyouwillbeonthepageofthenewuser.
6. Youcanprograminthealltheparametersassociatedwiththeuser.
7. Sendthesechangestothepanelsotheuserwillnowhaveaccesstothepanel.
Areas/Partitions
1. YourpanelissetupwithonArea1.LeftclickontheAreanameonthetreetotheleftofthescreen.
2. NowleftclickonArea1tobringyoutotheArea1detailsscreen.
3. Thecorrectinformationcanbefilledinforthisarea.
4. Ifyouneedtomakeanotherareaitisjustlikemakinganotheruser.Seesteps24intheusersection.
5. Youcansendthenewareainformationtothepanel.
Keypads
1. AccessthekeypadinthetreethesameasUsersandAreas.
2. Nowyoucanprogramthekeypadtothespecificationsthatyouwant.
3. Thefunctionkeyscanbeprogrammedtoactivateaneventonthekeypadwhenthefunctionkeyispressed.
Theilluminationeventwilldisplayonthekeypadwhentheeventisactivated.
InputZones
1. LeftclickonZones(input)intheaccounttree.
2. Nextleftclickonhardwiredmainboard.
3. Youcanselectazoneonthemainscreentoprogramsuchaszone1.
4. Bydoubleclickingthezoneyoucannowprogramthezone.
5. Nowyoucanprogramthename,definitionandetc.
6. Zonescanhavevoicedescriptionsassociatedthatcanplaywhenthezoneisviolated.
7. AccessthedropdownboxtoviewthewordstheM1canspeak.
Globals
*Youcangotoeachsectionbyclickingontab.Thiswilltakeyoutosubmenuforreviewingandchanging
settingsassociatedwiththatsection.
MiscellaneousTab
1. FromthefoldertreeleftclickonGlobals.Yourscreenshouldlooklikethefollowingscreen.
2. Onthefirsttabwecanenablethetelephonelocal&remotecontrolfromthedropdownbox.Alsowecan
changeTime,DateandTemperaturedisplay.
3. IfyouneedtocheckorchangedaylightsavingstimeyoucanleftclickontheSpecifyDatesbox.
4. IncasetheM1wasinstalledinacountryoutsidetheUnitedStatesyoucanchangethecountrycodefor
dialingpurposes.Thisisdonebyusingthedropdownbox.
ZonesTab
1. TheFastLoopResponsetimeisthetimeazonemustbeviolatedtotriggeraresponse.Youcanchangethis
numberbyincrementsof10millisecondsfrom20msto2550ms(2.55s).Changethetimeyoucantypein
thetimeorusetheupdownarrowbuttons.*Onlyzoneswiththe“FastLoopResponse”attributeselected
willfollowthistime.Zonesthatarenotselectedwith“FastLoopResponse”willrespondonslowloop
responsetime.
2. Slowloopresponsetimeisthetimethezonemustbeviolatedbeforethecontrolresponds.Thetimeis
adjustedthesameasthefastloopresponsetime.
3. NextoptioninthissubmenuistheCrossZoneSelfVerifybox.Bycheckingthisboxyourcrosszonecan
verifyitselfiftrippedforasecondtimewithintheCrossZoneVerifyTime.DonotusethisfeatureonFire
Zones.
4. TheCrossZoneVerifyTimeisthemaximumamountoftimeallowedbetweentripsofzonesinthecross
zonepool(seezonessection)totripanalarm.
5. WhenenabledAudibleSystemTroublesallowsthekeypadtobeepforsystemtroublessuchaslowbattery,
phonefault,ACfailure,etc.

1. Youcanselectpinnumberlengthforusercodes4digitsor6digits.
2. Thewrongcodelockoutistheamountofkeystrokesanindividualhasbeforethekeypadlocksupfor60
seconds.Therangecanbesetfrom13digitsto99.

1. TheM1canhaveArea1madecommontoArea2thruArea8.IfthisfeatureisusedArea1canonlybe
armedifallthecommonareasarearmed.Area1willbedisarmedifanyonotherassociatedwithit
becomesdisarmed.

1. Youcanchangeoutput1and2fromayelpsirentoanindustrialbuzzer.
2. Thenextchoiceistheinitialalarmvolumeoutofoutput1.Thiswillallowthepaneltoincreasethevolume
everytensecondsuntilitreachedthemaximumvalueprogrammed.Themaximumvaluefromoutput1is

upto255seconds.

2. Ring/Hangup/Answerworksasfollows:theusertocallthelocationhangupafteraringortwothencall
backandthepanelwillpickupthelinewithina45secondwindow.Inorderforthisoptiontoworkyou
needtohaveRingsUntilAutoanswerprogrammedtoanumberotherthan0.
3. TheTwoListeninmustbeenabledfortheElkM1TWIorElkM1TWAinterfacetowork.
4. TwoWayCallbackTimerisatimerthatprovidesawindowforCentralStationtocallbackaninitiatetwo

ischangedandforgottenitwillimpossibletoprogramatthekeypadinmenu9.
3. IfyouareusingUPBLightingyouwillneedtoprogramintheUPBLightingNetworkAddress.Thenumber
canbe1255forUPBnetworkaddresses.
4. ThelevelofprogrammingallowedthroughthekeypadcanbechangedwiththeKPProgrammingLockout
dropdownbox.
Telephone
1. FirstclickonTelephoneintheaccountoverviewtree.Thiswillhighlighttelephonetoblue.
2. Rightclicktobringupaboxtoselectanewtelephone.
3. Leftclickonnewtelephonetobringuphowmanynumberstomakebox.
4. Afterclickingokbuttonyouwillnowbeatthetelephonedetailspage.
5. Thetypecanbealwaysreportorsetupasabackup.
6. Foracentralstationyouneedtoputinthename,number,reportingformatetc.Youwillalsoneedto
programinwhatyouwouldliketoreportinCommunicator.
Communicator

1. Clickoncommunicatorinthetreetothelefttoexpandthesubmenus.
2. SelectZoneRCsbyleftclickingonit.
3. Ifthezonehasa01codethatmeansitwillreport.Rightnowtherestoralforzone1(slidedoor)willnot
report.Thisisbecausethecodeisa00.Ifyouchoosethereportingformat4+2pulseyouwillneedto
programcodes01throughFF.
Automation

1. Firstleftclickonautomationinthetreeontherightsideofthescreen.Thesubcategorieswillnowdisplay
asshownbelow.
2. ToenterlightingprogrammingdoubleclicktheleftmousebuttononthewordLighting.Thescreenwill
appearasbelow.
3. Youcanprogramupto256lightstheM1cancontrol.Thelightingtechnologypartnermanufactureryouare
usingwilldeterminetheformat.
4. TherearedifferenttypesoflightingdevicestheM1cancontrol.Thisisanotherdropdownbox.Simplyleft
clickontheOn/offswitchtobringupthebox.
5. TheShowboxwillallowthelighttobeshownonthekeypad(s),RMsoftwareandjavascreenfromtheElk
M1XEP.
6. LeftclickonVoiceDescriptiontobeabletoprograminmessagesforthelight.Thisismostlyusedonthe
telephoneremotecontrol.
Sunrise/Sunset

1. ByleftclickingonSunrise/Sunsetyoucanprogramintheclosestbigcityorthelongitudelatitudeofthe
panel’slocation.

2. Afteryousetthelocationclickonthecalculatebutton.ThiswillchangethetimeinthechartforSunriseand
Sunset.Don’tforgettosendthischangetothepanel.
Rules
1. LeftclickontheRulesinthetreeontheleftsideofthescreen.ThiswillbringyoutotheRulesscreen.Now
youcanprogramtheM1tocontrolthingswithoutneedingtoknowaprogramminglanguage.
2. InordertowritearulestartbyleftclickingonNew.Theboxbelowwillappearonthescreen.
3. AruleistriggeredbytheWheneverstatement.YoucanchooseaWheneverstatementbydisplayingthe
choicesinthedropdownbox.SimplyleftclickingontheWheneverwillshowtheboxbelow.
