High forces are released if the tool jams or
catches. Always hold the machine firmly with both
hands on the handle and additional handle, stand
in a safe position and concentrate.
Wear protective goggles.
Wear working gloves.
Never work on ladders or similar objects. Ensure
you stand in a safe position and keep your balance
at all times.
Pull the plug out of the plug socket before any
adjustments or servicing are performed.
Avoid inadvertent starts by always unlocking the
switch when the plug is removed from the mains
socket or in case of a power cut.
Switch the machine off if stops for any reason.
Keep hands away from the rotating tool!
Remove chips and similar material only with the
machine at standstill.
Smaller workpieces must be secured such that
they are not carried along with the drill bit when
drilling
(e.g. by clamping in a vice or on a work
bench with screw clamps).
Incorrect handling can result in injury to the oper-
ator and damage to the machine. Never subject
the machine to loads that cause it to stop.
Use only original Metabo accessories.
Dust from material such as paint containing lead,
some wood species, minerals and metal may be
harmful. Contact with or inhalation of the dust may
cause allergic reactions and/or respiratory
diseases to the operator or bystanders.
Certain kinds of dust are classified as carcinogenic
such as oak and beech dust especially in conjunc-
tion with additives for wood conditioning (chro-
mate, wood preservative). Material containing
asbestos must only be treated by specialists.
- Where the use of a dust extraction device is
possible it shall be used.
- The work place must be well ventilated.
- The use of a dust mask of filter class P2 is
recommended.
Follow national requirements for the materials you
want to work with.

Before plugging in, check to see that the
rated mains voltage and mains frequency, as
specified on the rating label, match your power
supply.
The extension cable must be suitable for the
machine power rating (see Technical Specifica-
tions). If using a roll of cable, always roll up the
cable completely.
6.1 Assembly of the additional handle
When the drill bit jams, very high torques
may be present. Therefore for safety
reasons, always use the additional handle (1)
supplied.
In the event of jamming, it is not sufficient to hold
the machine only at the handle (3). There is a risk
of injury to the user.
Screw the additional handle (1) into the thread (2)
and pull firmly by hand.
7.1 Switching On and Off
Avoid load on the machine until it come to a stand-
still.
Torque activation

press the trigger switch (5).
230 V: The rotational speed can be changed at the
trigger switch by pressing.
Switching off:
Release the trigger (5).
Continuous activation
(ONLY for use in drill stand):
To switch on:
press the trigger switch (5) and lock
with locking button (4).
