ACTION AND OPERATION OF THE INDICATORS
POWER...........................When the main power of the Projector is turned on, the POWER indicator lights in
green.
When the POWER indicator does not light and the WARNING FILTER indicator flash-
es, the filter is not attached to the Smoke Resist Box. In this case, the READY indica-
tor on the Projector does not light and the Projector can not be turned on.
WARNING FILTER..........Normally this does not light. Should the filter become clogged with dust particles indi-
cator flashes orange. When the filter needs to be replaced, indicator lights in orange.
The filter should then be replaced immediately. when the filter is not attached, the will
flash.
WARNING.......................Normally this does not light. When the box's fan is operating abnormally, indicator
flashes red . When this occurs, turn off power immediately and request a maintenance
check. Do not leave the Smoke Resistant Box operational while the lamp is flashing
as it may became a fire and/or accident hazard.

AIR INTAKE VENT & EXHAUST VENT
WARNING:
DO NOT COVER INTAKE
VENTS OR EXHAUST VENTS.
If the Air Intake Vents or Exhaust Vents are covered,
there will be insufficient cooling which may result in
failure or fire.
HOT AIR EXHAUSTED !
Air blown from exhaust vent is hot. When using or
installing a smoke resistant box, following precau-
tions should be taken.

FILTER REPLACEMENT

When replacing an filter, replace with a specified filter. A replacement filter can be ordered through your dealer.
When ordering the filter, give the following information to the dealer.
Replacement Filter type No. : POA-FIL-140
• Smoke Resistant Box type No. : POA-SR-140
1. Press the PUSH button on the filter cover.
2. Open the filter cover and remove the used filter.

3. Insert a new filter.

LOCATED INSIDE THE BOX WHEN
INSERTING THE FILTER.
4. Check that the filter is not tilted or warped and then
close the filter cover.
This will lock it into place.
5. Reset the filter timer.
REfer to "FILTER OPERATION TIME CHECK AND FILTER TIME RESET"

The filter operation time can be check in the projector menu.
Open [INFORMATIO ] in the menu and check [Option filter time] for
the hour counter.
"Option filter time"menu will not exist when Smoke Resistant Box is
not attached on the projector.
Reset the filter time according to the following procedures.
(Only reset the filter time when changing the filter. The Smoke
Resistant Box cannot be operated properly if it is reset other than fil-
ter change.)

RESETTING THE FILTER TIME
1. Check that the Smoke resistant box is properly
attached to the Projector.
2. Turn on the Projector and display screen.
Check all indicators on Smoke Resistant Box .
3. Select [ SPECIAL ] in the Projector's menu. Then
select [ Filter ].
4. Select [ Option box ] and then select [ Reset ] and then
[ Yes ].
5. A message [Please wait - - ] will appear. When it disappears Filter time reset is complete. Close the
menu.

Disassemble should be made following procedures in numerical order.
Following steps show the basic procedures, therefore unnecessary step may be ignored.
Caution:
The parts and screws should be placed exactly the same position as the original otherwise it may cause lose of
performance and product safety.
The wiring method of the leads and ferrite cores should be returned exactly the same state as the original other-
wise it may cause lose of performance and product safety.
Before disassemblies:
Turn off a projector and disconnect the AC power cord.
Smoke resistant box removal from a Projector.
1. Hold the Smoke Resistant Box with one hand and Loosen 4 screws A.
Remove the Smoke Resistant Box.
Caution:
Be careful do not damage connector.
Align the connector of projector with the
connector pins of the Smoke Resistant Box.

2. Hold the Smoke Resistant Box parallel to the Projector and taka out it
slowly the Projector.
3. Press the PUSH button on the filter cover.
CAUTION: TAKE CARE NOT TO TOUCH THE CONNECTOR OR APPLY
IMPACT THAT MAY DAMAGE THE CONNECTOR.

4. Open the filter cover and remove the filter.
5. Slide the shaft of a filter cover inside and pull the filter cover.

6. Remove the 4 screws A and remove the Frame main unit.
7. Remove the 2 screws A and remove the Connector.

8. Remove the 4 screws A and remove the 2 Fans (FAN1,FAN2).
Remove the 2 screws B, remove the Fixer-A and Fixer-B.
9. Remove the 2 screws A and remove the SW unit.

Precautions of Smoke Resistant Box Installation
When attaching Smoke Resistant Box in a projector, refer to the "PROCEDURE OF INSTALLATION" of
an owner's manual.
Cautious of especially the following items.
1. Unplug the projector from the electricity socket when attaching the Smoke Resistant Box. Attaching the
Smoke Resistant Box while the projector is connected to electricity may damage the Box or cause it to
malfunction.
2. Take care not to touch the connector or apply impact that may damage the connector.
3. No wide gap exists between the projector body and the Smoke Resistant Box.

and the schematic diagram designate components in which safety can be of special
significance. It is, therefore, particularly recommended that the replacement of the
parts must be made by exactly the same parts.

This Smoke Resistant Box is controlled by the projector. When the problem of the picture or the sound occurs,
remove Smoke Resistant Box from a projector and check the projector with the service manual of a projector.
No Power. Check that the projector is connected to a power source.
Check that the POWER indicator is lighted green.
When the WARNING indicator is flashing red.
The built-in Rotary Fan has malfunctioned
and halted operation. Check that the FAN,
Connector and Projector
When the WARNING FILTER indicator is flashing quickly.
WARNING FILTER indicator lighted orange.
When the WARNING FILTER indicator light
orange, the filter should be replaced with a new
filter immediately.
The filter may have come loose, or the fan detection
switch may be damaged.
