TheForward/Reversehandle(6)islocatedontherightsideoftheinstrumentpanel(Figure5).Thehandlehasthree
distinctpositions:FORWARD(A),NEUTRAL(B),andREVERSE(C).Pushthehandleuptooperatethevehicleinthe
forwarddirection,orpullthehandledowntooperatethevehicleinreverse.Theenginecanbestartedonlywhen
thehandleisintheNEUTRAL(middle)position.TheenginemustbeatidlebeforeshiftingtheForward/Reverse
handle.SeeprecedingWARNINGSandCAUTION.
Thisvehicleoperatesatareducedspeedinreverse.
ACCELERATORPEDAL
Theacceleratorpedal(1)isthepedalfarthesttotheright(Figure5).
WiththeenginerunningandtheForward/ReversehandleintheFORWARDorREVERSEposition,vehiclespeed
willincreaseastheacceleratorpedalispressed.Whentheacceleratorpedalisreleased,itwillreturntotheoriginal
positionandtheenginewillidle.SeeprecedingWARNINGSandCAUTION.
BRAKEPEDAL
Thebrakepedal(2)islocatedtotheimmediateleftoftheacceleratorpedal(Figure5).T osloworstopthevehicle,
pressthebrakepedal.
PARKBRAKEHANDLE
Theparkbrakehandle(5)islocatedbetweenthedriverandpassengerseats(Figure6).T oengagetheparkbrake,
rstapplypressuretothebrakepedal,thenpullupontheparkbrakehandleuntilhandlelatchesintoplace.To
disengage,liftleverbeneathhandle,thenpushhandledown.Foradjustmentofparkbrake,seePerformance

twopositionsmarked4X4and4X2.Pushthehandleuptoengagethefrontwheeldriveunitorpushthehandledown
todisengagetheunit.Theengagementleverwasdesignedtobeshiftedwhilethevehicleisinmotionsomomentumis
notlostwhileoperatingonslipperyterrain.Thelevershouldalsobedisengagedwhilethevehicleisinmotion.
WARNING
Donotoperatethevehicleonimprovedsurfaces(concrete,asphalt,etc.)in“4X4”mode.Doingso
increasessteeringeffort,tirewear,andshiftingeffort.
DIFFERENTIALLOCKCONTROL
Thereardifferentiallockcontrolhandle(4)islocatedontherightsideoftheinstrumentpanel(Figure5).Thehandle
hastwopositionsmarkedDIFFwithalockedpadlockiconandDIFFwithanunlockedpadlockicon.Pushthehandle
uptoengagethedifferentiallockorpullthehandledowntodisengagethedifferentiallock.

5).Ifthewarninglightcomesonwhiletheengineisrunning,theoillevelshouldbecheckedandoiladdedtothe
engineasnecessarybeforevehicleusecontinues.Thevehicleshouldneverbedrivenwhenthelowoilpressure
warninglightremainslit.Ifthewarninglightgoesonandoff,thevehiclemaybedriven,butoilshouldbeaddedat
therstopportunity.Iftheoilleveliscorrectandthewarninglightremainslit,haveatrainedtechniciancheckthe
vehicle.SeefollowingCAUTION.
CAUTION
Failuretoaddoilimmediatelywhenthelowoilwarninglightstaysonmayresultinpermanent

FUELGAUGE/HOURMETER
Thefuelgaugeandhourmeter(8)arehousedtogetherontherightsideoftheinstrumentpanel(Figure5).Thefuel
gaugeoperateswhenthekeyswitchisintheONpositionandallowstheoperatortomonitorthefuellevelinthevehicle.
Thehourmeteroperatesonlywhentheengineisrunning,andshouldbeusedbythetrainedtechniciantotrackvehicle
