operating instructions and note:
Warning
symbol
This symbol has been used throughout
these operating instructions to highlight
all sections relevant to your safety. Also
pass on all safety instructions to other
users.
Intended use
The machine meets the current state of
the art and complies with the applicable
safety regulations at the time of market-
ing within the context of the approved
use. In terms of design it was not possi-
ble to eliminate either the foreseeable
misuse or the remaining risk without
limiting the functionality in accordance
with the regulations.
The weed brush type 8100, including the
attachments approved by the manufac-
turer, is intended for uprooting and de-
positing weed growth on pavement,
concrete and/or asphalt surfaces so that
the weed can be collected in a further
operation if necessary (intended use).
Any other use is considered to be con-
trary to the intended purpose. The man-
ufacturer is not liable for any damages
resulting from such use and the risk is
entirely the user's own.
Intended use also includes observance
of the operating, servicing and mainte-
nance conditions stipulated by the man-
ufacturer.
Unauthorized changes to the machine,
especially to the safety equipment, may
lead to increased levels of danger, which
would rule out any manufacturer liability
for resulting damage.
When using the machine on public roads
and when being transported the
national road traffic regulations of the
relevant country must be complied with
(marking, lighting, etc.).
The machine must be operated as di-
rected in the operating instructions.
Other operators must given instruction if
required.
Any improper use or execution of activi-
ties at the machine not described in
these instructions constitutes unauthor-
ized misuse and is not within the statuto-
ry limits for liability of the manufacturer.
Improper use of the machine can en-
danger people and may result in dam-
age to the machine or other property of
the operator. It can also impair the func-
tionality of the machine.
Reasonable foreseeable misuse
Foreseeable misuse and improper han-
dling include inter alia:
Transport of people and objects
Removal or manipulation of protec-
tive and safety devices

Weed brush agria 8100
3 Devices and Operating Elements
The Weed brush agria 8100 is suitable
for uprooting and depositing weed
growth on pavement, concrete and/or
asphalt surfaces so that weeds can be
collected in a further operation if neces-
sary.
When using the weed brush on public
roads - e. g. during transport - the regu-
lations of the national road traffic regula-
tions must be observed (such as mark-
ing, lighting).
The implements released in the Agria
sales list are available.
Petrol engine
The four-stoke petrol engine is to be
used with standard petrol (see chapter
Startup, page 23).
During the first 20 hours of operation
(running-in period) do not use the engine
at full power.
The rule of never using the engine at a
higher speed than necessary for the
work in hand applies even after the
running-in period.
High speeds are detrimental to
all engines and significantly reduce
their service life. This especially ap-
plies for no-load operation! Over-
revving the engine (letting it roar) can
result in immediate damage.
Cooling
The engine is cooled with an air blower.
Keep the fan grille at the cable-pull
starter and the cooling fins of the cylin-
der free of dirt and aspirated plant de-
bris.
Idling
Always ensure that the engine idle
speed is adjusted correctly. With speed
regulating lever at idling, the engine
should continue running smoothly.
- agria-Service -
Air filter
The air filter cleans the aspirated air. A
contaminated filter reduces the engine
output.
Ignition system
The petrol engine is equipped with a
contactless electronic ignition system.
We recommend that any necessary
inspections are carried out by a skilled
person only.
3
Devices and Operating Elements

17
Speed regulating lever
Use the speed regulating lever (A/4) on the
ste
ering bar to continuously adjust the engine
speed between min = IDLE and max = FULL
THROTTLE as required.
Safety circuit
For traction drive and brush drive, the weed
brush is equipped with a safety/clutch lever (A/2
or A/3).
Stop position:
The related drive is switched
off when you release the levers (A/2 or A/3).
The engine continues running.
Operating position:
To operate the ma-
chine, press down the levers (A/2/A/3). This
establishes a non-
positive connection be-
tween motor and gearbox.
The safety circuit must be operated in two steps:
1) Pull the locking strap (unlatch)
2) Actuate the safety/clutch lever downwards.
Never tamper with the safety circuit.
Never tie up the safety lever.
The safety circuit is also used as
emer-
gency off switch:
Release the lever in a dang
erous situation. It
swings automatically to the "STOP" position!
Engine stop switch
The electric e
ngine stop switch (B/14) switches
the ignition system ON/OFF.
"I" = operating position
"O" = engine stop position
3
Devices and Operating Elements
18
Weed brush agria 8100
Clutch
A cone clutch is installed for both traction drive
and brush drive. Pressing down the levers actu-
ates the clutches: (A/3) for the traction drive and
(A/2) for the brush drive. The levers automatical-
ly swing to the "0" position (disen
gaged) when
you release them. Either clutch can be operated
separately.
In order to prevent the clutch from slipping dur-
ing work, a clearance of 1 - 2
mm is set at the
hand lever at the factory. Check the clutch play
after the first hour of Operation. Adju
st it if nec-
essary (see Maintenance and Care).
Note:
Park the weed brush only when the
drives
are switched off (see section Storage on
page 42
). Failure to do so can cause clutch
problems.
Forward / reverse gears
The weed brush is equipped with a forward gear
and a reverse gear.
The direction of the arrow on the rocker (A/18)
corresponds to the direction of travel.
Press the rocker switch left or right forwards.
The neutral position 0 is between forward and
reverse.

19
Steering bar
Adjust the steering bars only when trac-
tion drive and brush drive
drive are switched
off - risk of accident!
Steering bar height adjustment
Press the notch lever (A/20) down until the
notches are released.
Move the handlebar to the required level.
Release the notch lever and ease the han-
dlebar in a notch so that the n
otch lever
swings fully up to its home position.
Driving wheels
The drive wheels are secured to
the wheel shaft
with lynch pins (A/16) which makes it possible to
attach and remove the wheels.
3
Devices and Operating Elements
20
Weed brush agria 8100
Adjusting the brush head
The brush head can be adjusted about two different axes:
1. Horizontal longitudinal axis of the machine with two clamping screws (A/13)
2. Horizontal transverse axis of the machine with two clamping screws (A/11)
Recommended settings:
1) Tilt the brush head by approx. 5-
6° to the right
in the direction of travel:
Release both clamping screws (A/13)
Turn brush head to the right accordingly
Tighten both clamping screws again with
maximum hand force.
2) Tilt the brush head slightly forward:
Release both clamping screws (A/11)
Tilt the brush head forward
Tighten both clamping screws again with
maximum hand force.
With these settings, fatigue-free and low
-
vibration working is possible.
Any deviations from this (e. g. brush with too much forward inclination)
can lead to stronger vibrations on the steering bar or to greater lateral forces.
With the described setting, a weed strip of approx. 5-7 cm width is processed on the
right-hand side of the machine.
Wide-spread weed growth can be easily processed with swivelling motions on the
implement handle, and the same implement settings.
Allow the brush to act on the ground with moderate pressure only. Too high a con-
tact pressure increases the vibrations and the lateral forces on the steering bar.
Do not increase the brush pressure if the working result is poor. Rather go over the
same section again if necessary.
