Coopers Kill Weed 8610 Operating instructions

Type
Operating instructions
The Kill Weed works by heating the weed foliage with an intense
heat up to 1300ºC. This destroys the internal cell structure of the
plant causing it to wither and die.
Please read these instructions carefully before use and
keep in a safe place for future reference.
SAFETY WARNINGS
• When lit, only point at the ground, never hold the burner horizontally when lit.
• Only for use on surfaces that are non-combustible such as paving, stone,
pathways etc.
• Never use near dry grass, dry leaves, straw, bark, mulch, timber, thatched roofs
or anything that could catch fire, either from direct contact or from
sparks travelling.
• Keep away from fuel tanks, flammable liquids, petrol powered lawnmowers or
power tools etc.
• Observe any local authority guides/bans on the use of naked flames in times
of drought.

before storage, especially in a wooden shed.
• Follow all safety warnings on your gas can (not supplied) carefully. Keep away
from direct sunlight and extremes of temperature.
• Gas cans should be fitted or removed in well ventilated areas, preferably outside,
and away from any source of ignition such as heat, flames, cigarettes etc.
DO NOT USE THE KILL WEED IF THE SEALING WASHER IS DAMAGED
OR MISSING.
• Do not perforate or burn the empty gas can – dispose of at your local recycling
centre.
• Do not leave unattended at any time.
• After turning off the valve to cease gas supply, be aware that the flame will stay
lit for a short time while the gas burns in the extension tube.
• Always ensure the burner is off when putting down.
• When lit, be aware that the flame may be difficult to see.

RECOMMENDED FUEL:
Only for use with a pressurised Butane Gas can with a screw
fitting (Fig 4).
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
• First read the safety warnings (see overleaf).
• Check sealing washer is in place.
• Ensure the on/off valve on the regulating control (3) is closed by
turning it clockwise.
• Hold the gas can vertically and twist on anti-clockwise (Fig1).
• Ensure that a good seal is made.
• Turn the on/off valve (3) to the left to a low setting.
Immediately press the ignition button to light the burner
• Adjust the valve to increase or reduce flame intensity.
• Gently waft the flame over the weed at a distance of
approximately 15cm distance (Fig 2). Do not burn the plant
completely, only the heat is needed. Most weeds will blacken and
die in a couple of days. Stronger weeds, woody stems and those
with long deep roots may require a repeat application.
REMOVING THE GAS CAN
• Ensure the on/off valve on the regulating control (3) is closed by
turning it clockwise.
• Hold the gas can vertically and turn clockwise (Fig3).
• After turning off the valve the gas will continue to burn from the
extension tube for a short while.
• Allow to cool completely before storage.
• Store the burner and gas can separately.
GAS LEAKS
If gas can be smelt or a gas leak is suspected, turn off the valve (3)
and check the sealing washer, or fixing of the can is secure. Never
check for leaks with a naked flame. If in doubt stop use and replace
the gas can.

• Dispose of the packaging at your local recycling centre.
• Dispose of paper and carton separately from plastic bags at your
local recycling centre.
