•Becomefamiliarwiththesafeoperationoftheequipment,

operatorcontrols,andsafetysigns.

•Alloperatorsandmechanicsshouldbetrained.The

ownerisresponsiblefortrainingtheusers.

•Neverletchildrenoruntrainedpeopleoperateorservice

theequipment.

Note:Localregulationsmayrestricttheageofthe

operator.

•Theowner/usercanpreventandisresponsiblefor

accidentsorinjuriesoccurringtohimselforherself,other

people,ordamagetoproperty.

Preparation

•Evaluatetheterraintodeterminewhataccessoriesand

attachmentsareneededtoproperlyandsafelyperform

thejob.Onlyuseaccessoriesandattachmentsapproved

bythemanufacturer.

•Wearappropriateclothing;includingahardhat,safety

glasses,longpants,safetyshoes(rubberboots,gloves,

andhearingprotection.

Wearhearingprotectionwhenoperatingthis

machine.

ensurethatallobjectsareremovedfromtheareabefore

use.

chemicalresidueanddebrisbuildup.

ChemicalSafety

WARNING

Chemicalsubstancesusedinthespreader-sprayer

systemmaybehazardousandtoxictoyou,

bystanders,animals,plants,soilsorotherproperty.

•Carefullyreadandfollowthechemicalwarning

labelsandMaterialSafetyDataSheets(MSDS)

forallchemicalsusedandprotectyourself

accordingtothechemicalmanufacturer's

recommendations.Ensurethataslittleskin

aspossibleisexposedwhileusingchemicals.

UseappropriatePersonalProtectiveEquipment

(PPE)toguardagainstpersonalcontactwith

chemicals,suchas:

–safetyglasses,goggles,and/orfaceshield

–respiratororltermask

–chemicalresistantgloves

–rubberbootsorothersubstantialfootwear

–hearingprotection

–cleanchangeofclothes,soap,anddisposable

towels,tobekepton-hand,intheeventof

achemicalspill.

•Keepinmindthattheremaybemorethan

onechemicalused,andinformationoneach

chemicalshouldbeassessed.

•Refusetooperateorworkonthespreader-sprayer

ifthisinformationisnotavailable!

•Beforeworkingonaspreader-sprayer

system,makesurethatthesystemhas

beentriplerinsedandneutralizedaccording

totherecommendationsofthechemical

manufacturer(s)andallofthevalveshavebeen

cycled3times.

•Verifythereisanadequatesupplyofcleanwater

andsoapnearby,andimmediatelywashoffany

chemicalsthatcontactyou.

•Obtainpropertrainingbeforeusingorhandling

chemicals.

•Usethecorrectchemicalforthejob.

•Followthechemicalmanufacturer'sinstructionsfor

•Properlydisposeofunusedchemicalsandchemical

containersasinstructedbythechemicalmanufacturer

andyourlocalcodes.

•Chemicalsandfumesaredangerous;neverenterthetank,

hopper,orplaceyourheadoverorintheopeningfora

tankorhopper.

•Followalllocal,state,federalregulationsforspreading

orsprayingchemicals.

Operation

•Donotoperatethemachinewithoutguards,

shields,andsafetydevicesinplaceandworking

•Keephands,feet,hair,jewelry,orclothingaway

fromrotatingparts.

•Donotoperatethemachineundertheinuenceof

alcoholordrugs.

•Keeppetsandbystandersawayfromanoperating

machine.

Stopthemachineifanyoneentersthearea.

•Makesurethatyouhavegoodfootingwhileusingthis

machine,especiallywhenbackingup.

Note:Reducedfootingcouldcauseslipping.

•Stoponlevelground,disengagedrives,engagethe

parkingbrake(ifprovided),shutofftheenginebefore

leavingtheoperator'spositionforanyreason.

•Donotrunanengineinanenclosedarea.

•Lightningcancausesevereinjuryordeath.Iflightning

isseen,orthunderisheardinthearea,donotoperate

themachine;seekshelter.

•Onlyoperateinwell-litareas,keepingawayfromholes

andhiddenhazards.

•Slowdownanduseextracareonhillsides.Besureto

travelsidetosideonhillsides.Turfconditionscanaffect

thestabilityofthemachine.Usecautionwhileoperating

neardrop-offs.

•Slowdownandusecautionwhenmakingturnsandwhen

changingdirectionsonslopes.

•Lookbehindanddownbeforebackinguptoensurea

clearpath.

•Slowdownandusecautionwhenmakingturnsand

crossingroadsandsidewalks.

•Usecarewhenapproachingblindcorners,shrubs,trees,

orotherobjectsthatmayobscurevision.

•Allowengineparts,especiallythemufer,tocoolbefore

touching.

•Removeaccumulateddebrisfrommuferandenginearea.

•EnsurethatmotioncontrolisintheNeutralpositionand

thattheparkingbrakeissetbeforestartingengine.Only

starttheenginefromtheoperator’sposition.

•Donotoperatethemachinewithouttheshieldsor

otherguardssecurelyinplace.Besureallinterlocksare

attached,adjustedproperly,andfunctioningproperly.

•Donotchangetheenginegovernorsettingoroverspeed

theengine.

•Stopthemachineafterstrikingobjectsorifanabnormal

vibrationoccurs.Makethenecessaryrepairsbefore

resumingoperations.

SafeHandlingofFuel

•Toavoidpersonalinjuryorpropertydamage,use

extremecareinhandlinggasoline.Gasolineisextremely

ammableandthevaporsareexplosive.

•Extinguishallcigarettes,cigars,pipes,andothersources

ofignition.

•Useonlyanapprovedfuelcontainer.

•Donotremovethefuelcaporaddfuelwiththeengine

running.

•Allowtheenginetocoolbeforefueling.

•Donotfuelthemachineindoors.

•Donotstorethemachineorfuelcontainerwherethere

isanopename,spark,orpilotlightsuchasonawater

heateroronotherappliances.

•Donotllcontainersinsideavehicle,onatruck,orona

trailerbedwithaplasticliner.Alwaysplacecontainerson

thegroundawayfromyourvehiclebeforelling.

•Removeequipmentfromthetruckortrailerandfuelit

ontheground.Ifthisisnotpossible,thenaddfuelwith

suchequipmentasaportablecontainer,ratherthanfrom

afueldispensernozzle.

•Keepthenozzleincontactwiththerimofthefueltank

orcontaineropeningatalltimesuntilfuelingiscomplete.

Donotuseanozzlelockopendevice.

•Iffuelisspilledonclothing,changeyourclothing

immediately.

•Donotoverllfueltank.Replacefuelcapandtighten

securely.

MaintenanceandStorage

•Donotallowuntrainedpersonneltoservicemachine.

•Donottouchequipmentorattachmentpartswhichmay

behotfromoperation.Allowallofthepartsofthe

machinetocoolbeforeattemptingtomaintain,adjust,or

servicethemachine.

•Keephandsandfeetawayfrommovingparts.Ifpossible,

donotmakeadjustmentswiththeenginerunning.

•MovethemotioncontrollevertotheNeutralposition,

settheparkingbrake,stopengine,andremovekeyor

disconnectspark-plugwire.Waitforallmovementto

stopbeforeadjusting,cleaningorrepairing.

•Disconnectthebatteryorremovethespark-plugwire

beforemakinganyrepairs.Disconnectthenegative

terminalrstandthepositiveterminallast.Reconnect

thepositiverstandnegativelast.

•Cleangrass,dirt,anddebrisfromthedrives,mufers,and

enginetohelppreventres.

•Cleanupoilorfuelspillage.

•Parkmachineonlevel,hardground.Neverallow

untrainedpersonneltoservicemachine.

•Usejackstandstosupportcomponentswhenrequired.

•Carefullyreleasepressurefromcomponentswithstored

energy.

•Donotstorefuelnearamesordrainindoors.

•Lettheenginecoolbeforestoring.

•Keepallpartsingoodworkingconditionandallhardware

tightened.Replaceallwornordamageddecals.

Hauling

•Usecarewhenloadingorunloadingthemachineintoa

traileroratruck.

•Usefull-widthrampsforloadingmachineintoatrailer

oratruck.

•Tiethemachinedownsecurelyusingstraps,chains,cable,

orropes.Bothfrontandrearstrapsshouldbedirected

downandoutwardfromthemachine.

drivingthemachineovercurbs,rocks,roots,orother

obstructions.

•Donotjerkthecontrols;useasteadymotion.

•Donotcarrypassengers.

•Donotcarryequipmentonthemachine.

SprayerandSpreaderOperation

WARNING

Spraywandtrapsliquidsunderhighpressure,even

whenengineisoff.Highpressurespraydischarge

couldcauseseriousinjuryordeath.

•Keepclearofnozzleanddonotdirectspray

orstreamatpeople,pets,ornon-workarea

property.

•Donotdirectsprayonornearelectricalpower

componentsorsource.

•Donotattachhosesorothercomponentstothe

endofthespraywandnozzle.

•Donotattempttodisconnectthespraywand

fromtheunitwhilethesystemispressurized.

•Donotusespraywandiftriggerlockisdamaged

ormissing.

•Donotkeepspraywandinlocked-openposition

whenjobiscomplete.

•Donottouchtheimpellerforthespreaderwhilethe

inpellerisrotating.

•Stopspreading/sprayingwhenmakingtightturnsto

minimizeunevendistributionpattern,applicationrate,

andchemicaldrift.

•Chemicalsmaydriftandcauseinjurytopeopleand

animals;itmayalsodamageplants,soil,orotherproperty.

•Liquidloadsandgranularmaterialscanshift.Thisshifting

happensmostoftenwhileturning,goingupordownhills,

suddenlychangingspeeds,orwhiledrivingoverrough

surfaces.Shiftingloadscancausetheunittotipover.

•Safelyrelievepressurefromspraywandeverytimeengine

isturnedoff.

•Whendrainingorrelievingsystem,donotletanyone

standinfrontofnozzlesanddonotdrainonaperson’s

feet.

•Donotrepairspraywand,hoses,seals,nozzle,orother

wandcomponents;replacethem.

SlopeOperation

Useextremecautionwhenspreadingorsprayingchemicals

and/orturningonslopesaslossoftractionand/ortip-over

couldoccur.Theoperatorisresponsibleforsafeoperation

onslopes.

•Removeormarkobstaclessuchasrocks,treelimbs,etc.

fromtheareaonwhichyouarespreadingorspraying

chemicals.

•Watchforholes,rutsorbumps.

•Usecautionneardrop-offs,ditches,orembankments.
