INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
GRAIN PUMP LOOP CHAIN INSPECTION KIT
Safety: Electric motor(s) must be locked out/tagged out before work begins!
Directions:
1. Remove the driven pulley from the reducer input shaft. This may require adjusting the motor
mount plate to remove tension from the drive belts.
2. Bolt the torque arm to the hydraulic motor, with the ports on the motor facing away from the
torque arm. Use four ¾” lock washers & four 3/8” x ¾” long bolts to accomplish this. (see Fig. 1)

3. Attach the 1” chain coupler to the shaft on the hydraulic motor. Tighten set screws.
4. Attach the appropriate sized chain coupler sprocket onto the reducer input shaft. Position the
chain coupler flush with the end of the reducer input shaft. Use either the key that was used to

locate the reducer bushing, or the new key supplied with the kit to locate the chain coupler half
on the reducer input shaft.
5. Use the chain to join the chain coupler halves. (see Fig. 2)

6. Install either the 90° 7/8” male o-ring to ½” female pipe fitting, or the straight 7/8” male o-ring
to ½” female pipe adapters into the ports on the hydraulic motor. Use the fittings that will put
the least amount of stress on the hoses when they are installed.
7. Apply a thread sealant (Teflon tape or pipe joint compound) to the threads on the ends of the
hose. Connect the hoses to the previously installed fittings. The hose must be purchased
separately or supplied by the customer. A 3/8” hose with ½” pipe threads is recommended.
The hose should be long enough to comfortably reach a hydraulic power source on the ground,
positioned where it won’t interfere with chain inspection. (see Fig. 3)

8. Route the hoses to the ground, making sure they are not in contact with sharp edges where they
may be cut.
9. Attach one end of the supplied chain to the torque arm. Attach the other end securely to a solid
point on the supporting structure. (see Fig. 4)

10. Connect the other ends of the hydraulic hoses to a power source, such as a tractor. While
observing the travel of the chain, slowly engage the hydraulics & make sure the chain is
traveling the proper direction. If it is not, reverse the fluid flow. Clearly mark the correct
direction on the controls. MAKE SURE ALL PERSONEL ARE CLEAR BEFORE ENGAGING UNIT!!!
