Custom Media Setup Tool
Printer control can be optimized for custom media by registering a custom media le which contains
media information into the printer.
The Custom Media Setup Tool is used to register the custom media le to the printer.
The Custom Media Setup Tool has the following functions.
Registering custom media les to the printer
Deleting registered custom media le from the printer
Changing the name of registered media

The custom media le is a custom media information le that controls factors such as the xing temperature and printing
speed for custom media in order to ensure excellent printing results are obtained for the specic print media.

Registering custom media
to the device (Windows)

Execute the Custom Media Setup Tool
(Custom Media Setup Tool.exe).

Select the language that you want to
use and click [OK].

Read through the [Software License
Agreement], select [I Agree] and click
[Next].

Select the device that you want to set
and click [OK].

Enter the device password and click
[OK].
z
The factory default password is [aaaaaa].

Select [Register new media to the
device] and click [Next].

Select the location (Index) where you
want to register the media, and click
[Enter media information...].

Select the custom media le that you
want to register by clicking [Browse...],
and click [OK].
Enter a name if you want to rename the
registered media.
Note
z
The specied media name must be within 15 one-
byte alphanumeric characters.
z
A media name that has already been registered
cannot be used.

Click [Register].

A dialog box prompting you to [Restart]
is displayed.
Click [Yes] to restart immediately, or
click [No] to continue registering other
media information.
Note
z
When restarting, check to make sure the device is
not being used by another user.
Note
z
If you select "No" in the dialog box above and
immediately exit the tool, you may need to restart
the device yourself in order to apply the settings.

Click [Cancel] to exit the Custom Media
Setup Tool.
Click [Back] to continue registering
media information, or to delete or
rename media.
Deleting custom media
from the device (Windows)
Note
z
Deleted custom media cannot be recovered.
If a custom media has been deleted, you need to obtain
the custom media le again and register it to the printer.

Select the language that you want to
use and click [OK].

the device] and click [Next].

Check the check box of the left side
of the media name that you want to
delete. Multiple check boxes can be
selected at the same time.

You can select all registered custom media les by
selecting the [Select all] check box.

Click [Delete].
When the conrmation window is
displayed, click [Yes].

A dialog box prompting you to [Restart]
is displayed. This setting is enabled
when the device is restarted.
Click [Yes] to restart immediately, or
click [No] to continue deleting other
custom media.

you want to rename and click [Enter
name...].

Change the media name and click [OK].
