Refrigerant Precautions
Toreducetheriskofseriousinjuryordeath,thefollowingrefrigerant
precautionsmustbefollowed.
● Asoriginallymanufactured,thisunitcontainsrefrigerantinstalledbyJohnsonControls.Johnson
Controlsusesonlyrefrigerantsthathavebeenapprovedforuseintheunit’sintendedhomecountry
ormarket.JohnsonControlsdistributorssimilarlyareonlyauthorizedtoproviderefrigerantsthat
havebeenapprovedforuseinthecountriesormarketstheyserve.Therefrigerantusedinthisunit
isidentiedontheunit’sfaceplateand/orintheassociatedmanuals.Anyadditionsofrefrigerantinto
thisunitmustcomplywiththecountry’srequirementswithregardtorefrigerantuseandshouldbe
obtainedfromJohnsonControlsdistributors.Useofanynon-approvedrefrigerantsubstituteswillvoid

allowableconcentrationintheeventthatrefrigerantgasesshouldescape.Theinstallationshould
meettherequirementsinASHRAEStandards15and34.Ifrefrigerantgashasleakedduringthe
installationwork,ventilatetheroomimmediately.
● Checkthedesignpressureforthisproductis601psi(4.15MPa).Thepressureoftherefrigerant
R410Ais1.4timeshigherthanthatoftherefrigerantR22.Therefore,therefrigerantpipingfor

differsdependingonitsmaterial.
● TherefrigerantR410Aisadopted.Therefrigerantoiltendstobeaffectedbyforeignmatterssuch

● Toavoidthepossibilityofdifferentrefrigerantorrefrigerantoilbeingintroducedintothecycle,the
sizesofthechargingconnectionshavebeenchangedfromR407CtypeandR22type.Itisnecessary
topreparetheappropriatetoolsbeforeperforminginstallationwork.
● UserefrigerantpipesandjointswhichareapprovedforusewithR410A.
● Acompressor/unitcomprisesapressurizedsystem.Neverloosenthreadedjointswhilethesystemis

● Wheninstallingtheunit,andconnectingrefrigerantpiping,keepallpipingrunsasshortaspossible,
